Whether you\u2019re on foot, two wheels or in your car, Devon is \u2013 without a doubt \u2013 one of the most beautiful places to explore in the world.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a bold claim, but one backed by stunning tors, dramatic coastline, rugged cliffs, lush and verdant hillsides and endless hidden beaches and coves<\/a><\/strong>. In fact, you can set off in almost any direction in Devon and discover something amazing.<\/p>\n

Each year, we welcome thousands of guests (and quite a few of their four-legged friends) to our Devon holiday cottages<\/a> where they enjoy all the comfort, luxury and excitement that Devon has to offer.<\/p>\n

But when you\u2019re short on time and with so much to see and do, it\u2019s hard to know just the spots work your time are. Luckily, we\u2019ve been there, seen it and eaten the sandwiches \u2013 so where are they? Let\u2019s take a look at some of the best:<\/p>\n

Jubilee Gardens, Beer. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Located in the charming town of Beer<\/a><\/strong>, Jubilee Gardens is perched high atop a cliff face which looks down over the beach and out over the ocean. It\u2019s a stunning view and was recently named by Countryfile as the top picnic spot in the UK, giving the area some well-earned exposure in the press.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s also the start of the South West Coast Path, a stunning set of walks<\/a><\/strong> which take in some of the UK’s most beautiful scenery.<\/p>\n

Start Point.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The most southerly tip of Devon and (almost) the most southerly tip of the entire country, Start Point is a place which feels like no other, with spectacular views out over the ocean and across Devon\u2019s rich and varied coastline.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s also the ideal spot for wildlife watching, as regular aquatic visitors to the area include seals, dolphins and even the occasional whale.<\/p>\n

Sheeps Tor Summit. <\/strong><\/p>\n

If you\u2019ve got your walking boots on, then we\u2019d highly recommend you take an afternoon to scale the gorgeous Sheeps Tor. It\u2019s only around 4 miles from the car park to summit and along the way, you\u2019ll see Devon from an entirely new perspective, amongst iconic rock formations and contrasting moorlands.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s at the summit of Sheeps Tor where you\u2019ll enjoy the best view though. Situated 369m above sea level, you get stunning 360-degree views of the surrounding Dartmoor countryside, including a remarkable view over Burrator Reservoir.<\/p>\n

Jurassic Coast, Lyme Bay. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Jurassic Coast<\/strong><\/a> stretches from Exmouth in Devon to Studland Bay in Dorset, but the best viewing can be found in and around Lyme Regis.<\/p>\n

The site was one of vital importance to life in prehistoric times and today is stuffed with fossils. With a number of viewing platforms in which to take in the Jurassic Coast and it\u2019s surrounding towns and waters, Lyme Bay makes a great place to visit. When you\u2019ve done enough seeing, get hands-on and collect a few fossils for yourself!<\/p>\n
