Winter is drawing in and with it come the cold days, early sunsets and gorgeous, crisp scenery that typify the season.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a period of the year that\u2019s rapidly approaching and here at Lyme Bay Holidays, we couldn\u2019t be more excited to see it in with our guests, many of whom will be visiting us in Lyme Regis.<\/p>\n

Sitting at the very edge of Dorset, a spitting distance from Devon<\/a>, Lyme Regis\u00a0 transforms in winter into a gorgeous, festive wonderland with stunning Christmas lights, plentiful celebrations and a frozen splendour – all of which ensures our Lyme Regis holiday cottages<\/a> are often in hot demand.<\/p>\n

With chilly airs on the horizon though, you\u2019ll almost certainly be ducking in one of Lyme Regis\u2019 excellent pubs for a touch of warming refreshment.<\/p>\n

But what are the best winter pubs in Lyme Regis? With no shortage of experience behind us on this matter, join us as we share with you some of our favourites:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Volunteer Inn<\/strong><\/p>\n

With a history which stretches back to the 17th<\/sup> century, The Volunteer Inn<\/a> on 31 Broad Street is truly a Lyme Regis institution. Family run and with an outstanding selection of locally produced beers and ciders, The Volunteer Inn makes for an excellent winter stop off point.<\/p>\n

Its comfortable dark wood interior is complemented by exceptionally friendly staff, but we\u2019d be remiss if we didn\u2019t mention their excellent selection of pies, all produced fresh and served hot to your table.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Cobb Arms <\/strong><\/p>\n

Light, bright and located right on the seafront, the Cobb Arms<\/a> is a hugely popular family run pub in town.<\/p>\n

Taking its name from the harbour wall constructed in 1842 which products Lyme Regis Harbour, the Cobb Arms specialises in Palmers beers, a local brewer in Dorset since 1794. With four delicious Palmers beers on tap and two Dorset Orchard ciders too, you\u2019ll never be short of a wonderful pint.<\/p>\n

Perhaps their greatest success though is their menu, which is reliably fresh, seasonal and delicious.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Pilot Boat Inn<\/strong><\/p>\n

Another beachside pub, the Pilot Boat Inn<\/a>\u2019s main claim to fame is its 110-seat restaurant towards the rear of the building, serving superb modern pub classics. However, its standalone bar and table service make it a great destination for the whole family.<\/p>\n

Drinks include both local Palmers beers with popular national brands, alongside a huge range of spirits, wines, liqueurs and soft drinks, so you\u2019re certain to find something to warm you in the cold winter evenings. If you\u2019re feeling particularly brave, there\u2019s a roof terrace that offers spectacular 360-degree views, too.<\/p>\n

The Rock Point Inn<\/strong><\/p>\n

Situated right where the river Lym flows into the sea, the Rock Point Inn<\/a> is a stunning, iconic whitewashed building which offers a friendly, welcome greeting every time you step in.<\/p>\n

Named the #1 bar in Dorset and East Devon by the Campaign for Real Ale, the Rock Point Inn offers an exceptional selection of real ales, beers and ciders and fine wines, alongside comfortable seating and an intimate setting.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s real speciality though is its fresh fish dishes, which are the perfect reward for tackling a touch winter walk.<\/p>\n
