Excellent location and well laid out accommodation we have used the old lace shop several times and look forward to our next stay

Well designed ‘home’ obviously someone with a love of style and family owns this property.

Lots of good equipment in the kitchen little things like the plug in torches were a brilliant idea. Lots to read and do if it was poor weather. A boiling week what a delightful village.

The property looks small when you arrive; however, inside it is extraordinarily spacious, with a large dining room, a large lounge, and a well-stocked, spacious kitchen.

There are four bedrooms, one downstairs with a wet room and toilet, a further toilet off the lounge and a toilet and shower upstairs The cottage is decorated to a high standard and was extremely clean, and the five of us spent a very comfortable week there. Fantastic!!!

It is beautifully equipped and very clean. Everything to make a holiday comfortable and easy is provided, from all the necessities in kitchen and bathrooms to books and dvds, games and information - and throws on the sofas! Sun trap garden area with more than sufficient furniture to make sitting out in the sun a pleasure. Would recommend highly.

We had a wonderful Easter holiday in Beer at the Old Lace Shop with our grandchildren, who were so excited when they first saw the accommodation and how spacious it was.

They loved choosing their own bedrooms! The building is of hstorical interest, and we even had an American tourist knock on the door to ask whether the shop was open!The pub next door is probably the best in the village and attracts a local crowd, as well as tourists. We found it convenient for an early evening drink with the children without having far to walk home. They also serve food at lunchtimes. One small niggle (for the owners to note): the back door of the cottage is quite difficult to operate -unlock and lock - and this made putting the rubbish out a bit time-consuming.

The Old Lace Shop is in a great location in Beer, just a few minutes walk to the beach and surrounded by pubs, restaurants and little shops / delis. The cottage has some beautifully old features and character, whilst being spacious and warm. The kitchen was very well equipped and we appreciated the provision of a high chair and cot with linen. The two parking spaces were a bonus and meant we could always park easily. We tried Steamers Restaurant and The Anchor Inn, and we'd recommend both. Woozie's Deli is a wonderful cornucopia of locally produced foods. We visited The Donkey Sanctuary and The World of Country Living which are both good day trips.

Although only two of us stayed here, it is well equipped for much larger groups.

Clean and warm with an extensively kitted out kitchen. Although next door to a pub this only caused a noise problem on one night in the downstairs bedroom and that was noise from them doing building work after hours rather than patrons. The downstairs bedroom is a big plus for those with mobility issues including an en-suite. Great bonus of having two private parking spaces saves legwork and £.

The Old Lace Shop was just perfect for our stay.

There were 7 of us altogether but it is a very spacious property so we didn’t feel cramped at all. The cottage is maintained very well, the kitchen is well stocked and there were plenty of board games and children’s toys/books to keep everyone occupied. The cottage is a stones throw from the beach, so ideally located. Although it is located next to the pub, the only noise we heard was on at Saturday night, which is probably the busiest night, but wasn’t bad at all. We’ve been to Beer 4 times now and it’s the best cottage we’ve stayed in, we will definitely go there again.

Great place to stay.

There was some confusion regarding the bin collection as the other bins were collected on Tuesday. This was soon clarified when I called the agency as the cottage has a private collection for rubbish. We really enjoyed our stay in Beer

Lovely cottage with lots of history.

The cottage is in a great position within the village which has shops, galleries and places to eat. Two minute walk to the pebble beach and two second walk to the pub next door!! Other local attractions nearby.

I cannot get through to anyone on Lyme Bay Holidays by phone to see if my 85 year old mother had left her glasses in the properpty - I have now been holding for 20 minutes after finally getting a ring tone circumnavigating all the automated nonsence.

This is so frstrating as she is distressed. Terrible customer service.

Our second visit to The Old Lace Shop and just as enjoyable.

A couple of fairly minor points. Over the last 40 years or so we have stayed in dozens of cottages, and I believe that this is the first one with an empty fridge when we arrived. No big deal you might say, but a welcome pack is perhaps disproportionately, well, welcome. If times are hard why not add £5 to the rental charge - no one would notice. Secondly, a local Alan Titchmarsh could do wonders with the courtyard and make it much more welcoming.

We had the perfect stay for Easter week at The Old Lace Shop even the Easter bunny came !

Very nice cottage with some issues.

While it is noted on the listing that it's next to the pub - I think it would be best to mention that there will be some noise and a few smokers out the front. Not a massive issue unless you are in the street level bedroom. Big condensation issue in that room too and no opening windows or working extractor in the wet room. No cafetiere either which was a shame. Location was great and house was warm, but I think given the issues with noise, condensation and general condition perhaps a bit expensive.

The property was in a wonderful location with all the facilities to make us comfortable.

. The only things that let it down was the lack of a welcome pack when we arrived. A loaf of bread and 2 pints of milk go along way. The car park was absolutely pitch black, and there was items left in the dishwasher from previous occupants.

Cosey and convenient, nicely laid out.

Easy parking and handy for shops with a short walk to the beach. Can highly recommend.

Enjoyed a lovely holiday in this spotlessly clean and lavishly equipped cottage.

The situation is perfect - a short walk to the beach - and the off-road parking a bonus. Eating places abound within strolling distance, the locals are friendly, and most of the shops are independently owned. We love this village and hope to return soon.

We loved the location.

The property was spacious and included all of the expected facilities. The bedding and towels were all top notch. We had a broken toilet seat in the downstairs cloakroom which we reported and it was replaced within 24 hours. We had a great holiday so are reluctant to criticise but there are a couple of things we should mention. The wet room (which is the downstairs en-suite) is tired and in need of a refresh. Whilst the cottage was fairly clean, there were some shortcomings which we felt were mainly due to the end of holiday cleaners probably not having sufficient time to do a proper job. There was a lot of dust on the doors and skirting boards, and a fair amount of mould in the bathrooms plus the radiator in the wet room was very rusty. Finally, we think it would be very helpful if the access to the car park was mentioned in the description of the cottage as it is very narrow and because of car parking on the road opposite the cottage, can be difficult in anything larger than a medium size car. That said, we loved it and would certainly return.

Comfortable, spacious cottage in a great location in the heart of Beer close to beach and all amenities.

Fantastic property it was like moving from home to another home as it had everything in it iron ironing board coffee machine etc and the location couldn’t be any better or closer to the beach the pub next door can get a little noisy on weekends but that wasn’t a problem and what we expected being joined on next to it The only thing we said which wasn’t a problem or issue it that the garden could do with abit of a revamp as it could look beautiful weeding etc
