Overall we had a fantastic stay in the house and it brightened our January, however, there are a few negatives.

We arrived to a cold house. We chose a modern property rather than a cottage so we could be sure it would be warm being January. The stay was to celebrate an 80th birthday and she was not happy at how cold the house was. There were no instructions as to where the boiler or control panel were and we assumed it was controlled remotely so we switched the lounge fire and oven on. 2 hours later at 6pm the heating came on and we coincidentally realised it was in the garage. The glass back door is badly fitted and has to be kicked to open; only one of us had the strength and courage to do this. The patio doors are completely jammed shut. The radiator in the top double bedroom still doesn't work. These three problems are listed as faults by other users online and surely after a year or more the owners would sort this out! The doors are a safety issue in the event of a fire. The door to the rear single bedroom does not shut so light comes in at night. The kettle lid does not shut, that's a cheap and easy fix. Overall a spacious and comfortable house for the winter and was ideal for our birthday celebration. We enjoyed the walks from the house.

Fantastic place to stay!

Previous reviews have said that: : the freezer doesn't work properly : the French window is difficult or can't be opened : the back door is tricky to open : the raised wooden platform structure in the garden is unsafe.

None of these items have been addressed. The freezer was a particular issue as my grandchildren are on a special diet. My daughter made food to freeze upon our arrival, it didn't freeze and had to be thrown away. The problem with the two doors to the garden could present a fire risk if exit is only obtainable via the front door.

The cottage is nice.

However the patio doors would not open. The back door was difficult to open. The freezer did not appear to work properly. Could do with redecorating as the paint is chipped in some places. I tried to phone but got endless answering messages. We have been using you for over ten years

We were booked into this property for a week (Sat to Sat during the Easter school holidays), however, we left a day early due to bad weather.

This property is in a great location for exploring the Jurassic Coast by car. The outlook over Uplyme from the front of the house is gorgeous even on a gloomy day. The surrounding area is however very hilly so would be ideally suited for the more able walker/hiker. We had younger children and a 70 year old in our party so we didn't do a lot of walking. The property was comfortable and clean and the beds and their bedding were super comfortable. Great touch with the welcome pack of local goodies and also milk waiting for us in the fridge. The rear garden is part grass and was ideal for our 2 dogs, however, the fence isn't completely secure as there are gaps underneath some of them that a smaller dog could easily escape through if they wished. The property could do with some general TLC i.e. overflowing guttering and plant growth where it needs clearing, rotten decking and railings in back garden (we stayed away from this area the entire holiday as was dangerous). We also had a couple of issues with loose bricks in garden and a leaking shower tray but the maintenance team were very friendly and responsive, addressing both issues the same day. All in all it was a good stay. 4 stars given as the property just needs a little love.

This was our first visit to 28 Barnes Meadow and we really enjoyed our stay.

The property is spacious, warm (although we couldn’t get the radiator working in the 2nd double bedroom), clean and comfortable. We found some good walks for the dogs although the weather wasn’t very good. We would certainly stay here again.

The location of the property is great, And the property itself is large and spacious.

However, it is in need of TLC and basic maintenance. All of these findings have been reported back to the company/owner, so hopefully they will be rectified - The back door does not open or close properly, which is difficult when you have a dog, The bathroom has clearly suffered a leak and there is a large damaged patch to the ceiling which has been noticed before on a previous review but obviously not been dealt with, The main bathroom is scruffy, with badly bodged repairs and in need of a repaint. The walls throughout also are quite badly marked and there are several marks and stains on the carpets. Unfortunately, having stayed in several Sykes properties before we would not rate this as a four tick property currently. We did have an issue (just an unfortunate and unavoidable problem) which was resolved brilliantly by the Sykes team very quickly. The area is lovely and it’s a good walk down into Lyme Regis.

A lovely house in a fantastic and quiet location.

We were a party of 3 generations and a dog for a short weekend trip. The space was fantastic and the kitchen well equiped. The only down down sides were it felt a little unloved. There were lots of cobwebs in the windows especially behind the blinds. There is a leak in the top floor bathroom, which must have been there for a while as the ceiling is stained. Shower heads also need replacing in both bathrooms. Outside lights front and back are not working and the decking area looked rotten. We didn't use it just in case!

We had a problem with the Tv but after a call this was fixed.

Thankfully as we had some wet weather. Other than that the house was clean and warm and we had a great stay. Beds were very comfortable. Maybe baby gates being supplied might be good. We couldn’t fit one in our car and had to improvise with the airer to stop our blind dog toppling down the stairs to front door. We would still stay again so Thank you

several lights were not working and tv reception was unwatchable all week long.

however, the location was lovely and peaceful and ideal for touring the area.

3 generations stayed at your holiday home.

We all enjoyed the space and cleanliness of all the rooms. Children enjoyed the playroom which was also used as quiet storytime, reading and play room. Welcome pack was top quality, thank you. Well equipped kitchen. A comfortable retreat to return to after days out (especially appreciated as we stayed during a stormy weather week). Bus service is available from the village. Bus stop a short walk away. Up hill walk on return to the house. We would highly recommend holiday home.

The property was very comfortable and homely, well equipped and maintained, and had everything we needed for a very enjoyable and relaxing holiday.

There was plenty of space in this super clean house and well set up for bringing our dog. We would definitely recommend this property and hope to return again. Thank you to the owners.

Just the tonic we needed booked as a last minute five day get away.

This fantastic clean and dog freindly home is perfect with all that is necessary and more for a lovely Dorset holiday. Set in a quiet cul-de-sac Very impressive kitchen everything you need. Lovely chunky solid Dinning room table and chairs Lounge with two large comfy sofas tv and modern electric fire. If you have toddlers you will need to sort out stair gates the stairs are only short flights but at the bottom it has modern tiled floors. The tiled floors are in the hall way from the front door also the kitchen and the dining room so all entrance doors have tilled floors which is brilliant for a soggy dog to be cleand and dried off before reaching the carpets. Bedrooms are spacious with comfortable beds Main bedroom nice ensuite with wc and a (large shower) Spacious main bathroom with bath and separate shower and wc Property also has a downstairs wc just inside the front door handy on returning from a long day exploring

Lovely property lots of space, we stayed with my Son his Wife and baby, Thankyou for recommending to use x2 stair gates, we bought our own travel cot and high chair.

Sofa in the lounge very comfy. Master bedroom lovely comfy bed, and spacious, however 2nd bedroom double bed was too firm and too short for my Son who is 6’4”. Comfy single beds in the remaining two bedrooms. Outside space could have benefitted from some TLC on the decking area. However we have recommended to friends and would book again, great location, very quiet residential area, lovely views from living room and master bedroom and only a short drive into Lyme Regis. We really appreciated the very nice welcome pack Thankyou

The property was very suitable for our stay.

It would have been helpful to have had a folder of information in the house about local doctors etc as one of our party was unwell and we needed to contact one. Also the heating was a little erratic as it went off in the evenings and turning up the thermostat did not turn it back on.

We had a lovely family holiday.

28 barnes meadow was very homely and spacious .. this is now the 4th time we have stayed there and we will be coming back

We enjoyed our holiday at Lyme Regis and the house was the perfect size for our family.

It was well furnished and we appreciated the wall art, which is in keeping with the coastal location. We would recommend a visit to the nearby Axe Wildlife Park which has a good selection of less common zoo animals and friendly, informative staff. The walk from the house along the River Lim pathway to Lyme Regis is also well worth doing and if you’re interested in fossil hunting, we suggest that you visit the Dinosaur Museum first, so that you know what to look for.

We had a lovely break in this property and found it very clean and tidy.

Our only feedback would be that it lacked a bit of T.L.C. Whilst we appreciate it's a holiday property we were surprised that it didn't have a few of the basic touches like toilet roll holders and we were concerned that we only had 1 set of keys so in the case of an emergency in the night or a fire our exit would be somewhat restricted because the front door did not have a turnkey inside. That said we would not hesitate to go back (if they will have us) :-)

although the house was spacious it lacked things that should have been there, with lots of stairs no stair gates were provided, the price being very high we thought a first priority would be protecting very young children from falling down stairs.

also the kitchen bins lid would not close allowing little fingers to rummage through dirty rubbish, overall a nice house with a few improvments and a price reduction we would return.

Great sized property, and a fantastic location.

It is clear that the property will be popular - and whilst it was clean, it would benefit from a 'deep clean'. There were quite a few cobwebs, and dusty surfaces which can't be tackled in between lets (i.e. 5 hour turnaround). Couple of things really ought to have been tackled - these had been noted in the visitors book by previous visitors. 1. The bin in the kitchen needs replacing or a better lid. To not have a bin that can close in the summer months is problematic (smell and flies). 2. The fridge has a broken shelf (spotted on top of one of the kitchen cupboards), meaning it was not easy to store milk/juice etc. upright. 3. Would have been nice to have a washing line put up outside (found the folded device on the last day in the garage).

Great holiday home, in a great location, with Lyme Regis within easy reach via The River Lyme Path.

Literally the only two things we could fault are the bin in the kitchen that doesn't stay closed (without a weight on it) and there being only 5 large plates for a party of 6. That aside, perfect!
