What guests are saying
This was our second year at this cottage, the location between Charmouth and Lyme Regis is superb, you can walk to both as long as you are crossed with a mountain goat, steep roads, glorious views.
The cottage is adequate, it has everything you need, it’s a bit grubby, could do with a bit of love, beds creak like you are on a creaky sailing ship. Again though, it’s still very good value for what you get. Don’t miss Bridport market on Saturday and West Bay, cliffs are magnificent. We enjoyed our stay in Dorset very much and would go again.
We made a last minute booking (day before!
) and we still got looked after like we booked months in advance. When we arrived, the house was freezing, but it didn't take long to warm up. I received a courtesy call from the proprietor, making sure we were settled in nicely not long after we arrived, which was nice. We also got a courtesy call from Syke cottages the next day, making sure everything was okay, and a number to call if there was any problems. The house itself was lovely, just right for our family. it is in a very quiet location which was nice. Everything was clean and tidy. the only thing was the downstairs bath/shower, didn't have a shower screen or curtain, so we could only use the upstairs shower in the mornings, which took longer (that's not a complaint in any way, shape or form and wouldn't stop me from booking again) The rooms were ample size and clean. Definitely consider coming here again!
The property was dirty we had to clean plates and cutlery and pans before using, bins were dirty covered by plastic bags to hide the dirt.
Safety concerns the bed ( someone did come out to tighten and in his words wow this is loose) Sofa ( wicker) failing apart and my husband cut his finger on it. Mould to both bathrooms and therefore stale smell to the home Dirty toilet brushes, dirty handrails and bed frames Dinning chairs dirty Fridge was not fit for purpose, it kept freezing food therefore food waste regarding salad items. Also was dirty and rushing along the bolts/hinges Washing dryer did not work, but also no instructions to even try and navigate how to use it At the time of booking the pool at the neighbouring hotel was in use, but on arrival it has been stopped and looking on line after the booking pictures of the pool access and details had been removed we were not made aware. This was a perk and a direct reason why we paid what we did originally! It was however an excellent location! And was well stocked with items despite being dirty. I would recommend this property to be paused for rental and a deep clean/attention to detail be made.
