“We found Nutwood Cottage v relaxing for a week's stay as a party of 6, 4 adults and 2 teenage boys.”
Close to the quieter beaches, great location for fossil hunting! Fantastic educational guided walk from Charmouth Heritage Centre. Pop in the fossil shop a few doors away from Nutwood and meet Chris Moore, a passionate, humble & humourous man who discovered and excavated the ichthyosaur from BBC's Attenbourough and the Sea Dragon.
Beautiful views from the cottage patio which provided another outdoor room for a bit of peace and quiet away from the group when needed as the front living room with tv was a very cosy and open plan with the dining and kitchen. It had a v pretty garden. Beds, mattresses were v comfortable, although personally I found my pillows a little lumpy. The ensuite shower room is v small so some may find it a struggle to get in and out. However, there is a spacious family bathroom downstairs.
The kitchen was very well equipped for cooking for 6 people. We, a couple, travelled easily by train from W London to Axminster. Then, bus to Charmouth via Lyme Regis . Whilst my sister's family travelled by car due to the allocated 1 parking space. Buses do stop running from Lyme Regis to Charmouth by about 7pm which means evening meals and returning will be by expensive via pre booked taxi. However, the fun and most enjoyable day events for the Life Boat Week more than made up for that.
