Sitting at the mouth of the River Char and dubbed the ‘Gateway to the Jurassic Coast’, Charmouth is famed for its fossil beaches. Not only rich in Jurassic treasures and sublime scenery, the beach is also perfect for rockpooling, swimming and building sandcastles.
Despite being just two miles from Lyme Regis, the village has its own distinct character and history (including being home to King Charles II during his escape from France), as well a cluster of restaurants and pubs plating up the finest local produce.
