Ancient Lights

Ancient lights is a beautiful house with planting floors and doors and other lovely features.

The views of the sea from all windows was amazing, everything you needed was there plus more. The only negative was the hill which my husband struggled with, didn't realise it was so far from the centre. Havnt said that the buses were regular and local taxis very good

A super holiday cottage!

Beds were really comfortable, fans were very much appreciated in the bedrooms, the kitchen was extremely well equipped for self-catering, views were stunning and the garden was the cherry on the cake.

As always a lovely stay at this property,spotlessly clean and very homely.

Stayed during heatwave and the only improvement would be a summer quilt at this time of year and maybe an additional fan as it looks like this may be the new norm!

The accommodation was pristine, everything was available for our use including garden furniture . Very impressed, it was like home from home and the welcome pack was a lovely surprise.

Very well appointed, there is everything you need to help you relax and enjoy a traditional British sea-side holiday whatever the weather. The views from the property are stunning, enticing you to explore the town and further afield.

What a good week we had at Ancient Lights in Lyme Regis.

A well equiped and comfortable house, well positioned for access to the town and all facilities. The welcome pack was most acceptable and enjoyed by all. The only draw back was that 'change over day' is a Friday which is a very busy day for traffic when travelling on the M5. Otherwise it was great accomodation.

Ancient lights is the most beautiful house we have stayed in!

Comfortable and beautifully decorated with some lovely original features. Some low doorways ( my 6 ft 6 husband soon learnt to duck ) and the floor was a bit wonky donkey but beautiful view and quick walk down to town or the beach. Driveway quite steep on the side of the house. Would definitely stay again!

Everything you could need and lots of small touches that add to the stay. Very comfy and no negatives.

Very cosy with spectacular views. Definitely a 5 star property, welcome pack was lovely and well thought of. Can't wait to visit again.

The cottage was lovely, spotlessly clean, had everything we could possibly need, and more!

We also loved the garden, it was well-maintained and the perfect place to sit with a morning cup of tea or evening drink. The welcome pack is a lovely addition. The only slight drawback is the low doorway heights - my husband took a few knocks to the head before he remembered to duck! It was a privilege to stay in a traditional cottage which has been thoughtfully modernised but still shows its links to the past.

I enjoyed my stay in Ancient Lights.

It was my second visit and if I plan a visit to Lyme in the future I will probably stay there. The property is fully equipped for four people. Bed linen and towels of excellent quality. A couple of points to make, on the first evening after a long journey I planned to relax and watch T.V. Despite several attempts I was unable to switch it on. I recognise I’m not technology savvy but usually manage. I contacted Lyme Holidays who sent their representative Andy, he turned out to be a god send! Talking me through the process making sure I was able to switch the tv on myself. He also helped me with the front door which was stiff and difficult to open. Because of his help I was able to enjoy my holiday. Thank you Andy for helping me in my hour of need, you really made the difference between a miserable holiday and the holiday I enjoyed.

Beautiful house and spotless.

Everything we needed for a stay over Christmas. Lots of throws and very comfortable. Would definitely return if in this area again. Lovely welcome pack too.

But not suitable for anyone with disabilities due to the many steps and no walk in shower , everything else was great and we still enjoyed our holiday.

Our 3rd time here I think (possibly 4th!

). Love it every time - I always feel the pictures don’t do this place justice. Very well equipped too, the owners have done a great job to cater for so many needs (eg bbq / tumble dryer etc)

Lovely property within close proximity to town centre.

The property had all necessary amenities and even offered a high chair which was great! Home from home like feel with some original characteristics which we loved. Only recommendation would be to take some slippers/house shoes as the carpet upstairs is of a rough texture and downstairs hard cold flooring (but that is just personal preference). Overall fantastic stay!

Was a great place to stay.

An easy walk to centre of Lyme Regis. There was parking at the property which was good but a bonus for us was a rapid 50 kw charging point in car park opposite the house so could charge car. In fact rarely used car as lots to do in Lyme Regis. The king sized bed is gigantic and very comfortable.

A relaxing week at Ancient Lights.

Equipped with everything you might need on holiday - including scales which is a first for me! I like to make myself at home and often make some scones! Couple of things to mention. The tin opener needs replacing and the fridge settings. I bought boiled ham for sandwiches and in both cases it had gone off the next day. Perfect though in so many ways, I will visit again.

Only a short walk away for the hustle and bustle of Lyme Regis but far enough away that it's lovely and peaceful.

Great house invited in-laws to stay with us this time and plenty of room for 4 adults.

ate out most days but the kitchen is well stocked with equipment if you did decide to cook a meal

This was our second visit here after last year.

We love this cottage, great facilities - the kitchen is lovely and the new wooden floor in the living room is very nice too. We had two children with us, nearly 4 and 6 months. The garden has two locked gates which means you don’t have to be on the lookout all the time which is good, and is a lovely place to sit in to take in the amazing views of the Golden cap. I would say that whilst the property might aesthetically not look the best, everything else about it is top notch, we are looking at when we can next go.

Ancient Lights is a lovely, comfortable holiday cottage.

It was exceptionally clean and tidy and we really enjoyed our stay. It offered everything we needed, however, a couple of extra bin bags for the kitchen bin would have been useful.

We had a great time, staying in a house we've stayed in at times over the last six years.

We wanted to re-book for September, having enjoyed ourselves so much, but it proves impossible because of the huge rise in costs. We know about inflation, but your prices go above and beyond what is reasonable. Oh, and I notice we couldn't book 4-day stays any more, just 3. It seems a bit odd, given there are 7 days in a week.

We visited with our 7-yr-old and new baby in February half term. This holiday let is absolutely stunning and far exceeded all our expectations. It is bigger than the photos suggest, spotless, tidy, comfy and very well equipped. It has character, stunning views and a great location walking distance into Lyme Regis. We even had a lovely little welcome hamper when we arrived. There are no negative comments, this is honestly one of the best places we have ever rented. Thank you

Ancient lights remains our favourite place to stay in Lyme; it is beautifully presented, spotlessly clean and very comfortable.

It really feels that the owners want us to enjoy our time there as guests and that we are valued as such. The cottage is immediately welcoming and very easy to settle into, with a lovely welcome pack. The quality of the fixtures and fittings is excellent; lighting is well thought out (especially in the sitting room); the bed is very comfortable and the whole cottage is a lovely place in which to relax.

The cottage is superb with everything in it you could possibly ever need.

The view of the sea is good and it’s proximity to the town excellent. Couldn’t have asked for a better home from home. Thank you to the owners. The only letdown is the management company who really are disappointing. They send copious emails about what you have to do on leaving, whilst you are trying to enjoy your time away (including stripping the beds - never had to do this anywhere) which takes the shine off the stay especially as you can’t get into the property until 4pm and have to leave by 10am! What do the housekeepers need all that time for when we’ve emptied the bins and left everything as we found it - they have 6 hours!! 11am and 3pm seems to be the norm elsewhere.

We love this property it is just perfect for us.

.beautifully kitted out, great garden and view. The house is really comfortable and has pretty much everything we need.This is our 2nd stay and were looking to come again but REALLY concerned with the price increase for next year so just not sure if it will be possible for us to return which is a real shame.

I stayed here with my Husband, parents and daughter.

We had a lovely stay, it had everything you needed and even the little things had been thought of. It is very modern and clean and in a perfect location. It was lovely being able to sit in the window seats and look out at the sea my 1 year old enjoyed this very much! We will definitely be back.

This is our third visit to Lyme Regis and to Ancient Lights.

It was as always an absolute delight and we had the added bonus of good weather. We love Lyme Regis and would not consider staying anywhere else but ancient Lights as this now feels like home from home. Thank you for your great service we will be back.

The pictures on the website do not do it justice. It was even better in person! It was the perfect place to relax and call "home" during our stay in Lyme Regis.

We had a great stay here, the cottage was fantastic, lovely location and all the facilities you would need.

We’d love to come back again! Only very slight concern from the stay was that we couldn’t find the key for the upstairs twin bedroom (we have a 2 year old boy), but appreciate this can happen. One other point I’d like to mention is we have looked at the same week next year and noticed the price has gone from £962 to £1309 - whilst I’m fully aware prices have gone up on most things, 36% seems quite excessive - my fear is this is following the takeover by Sykes as I have read a lot over the last two years about them putting the prices up. This will change peoples choice of holiday and put them out of reach at a time when peoples pockets are hurting. I would have given the property 10 out of 10 were it not for this.
