Pasta sauce splattered up the kitchen cupboard. Dirty work surfaces, taps, kettle splattered with food. Hob covered in crumbs and dials greasy & dirty. Bedside tables dusty. Headboard thick with dust. Shelves in bedroom so dirty we left our clothes in our suitcase. Venetian blind on bedroom door has clearly not been cleaned in a very long time as so dusty. Plug sockets & switches throughout are greasy & dirty. Bathroom bin rusty & doesn’t open. Thick dirt & dust under cabinet & skirting boards in bathroom. Extremely unpleasant smell in the flat. We had to sit with the front door open. We discovered it came from the large cupboard in the living room, which is crammed full. On opening the door I gagged at the smell. The doors of this cupboard are covered with dust and hairs. The bedroom needs a blackout blind as in July the sun streams in at 4:30am so don’t expect a restful stay. The shower is either scalding hot or extra scalding hot & needs servicing. We book Sykes cottages as they are always of the highest standard. This property fails on all levels.
I am the owner of Waterloo Place and am most disappointed to read your review. The cleanliness is extremely uncharacteristic of the service that the agency provides and I have alerted them seeking an explanation. The shower taps have since been changed, as a consequence of your feedback. The limescale is so aggressive in Charmouth I believe. I note that you have marked the property incredibly low on all areas, rightly so, it seems, for the cleanliness. I am not sure that is quite fair around the accuracy of listing, comfort or facilities. Reviews like this are incredibly damaging for single property owners like myself, but it is your lived experience that counts. I hope that you made the office aware during your stay, so that they could rectify your findings immediately. I am genuinely sad that you did not enjoy your time at Waterloo Place.
