The perfect location to enjoy the charm of this town and the surrounding area

This property in Lyme Regis is in a prime location and within walking distance to shops and beach also the added benefit of two off road parking spaces at rear of property.

It's probably one of the cleanest we have stayed in. Just a note for owner One observation although the property was spotless I noticed that there is a severe build up of unsightly dust inside the double radiators. This can cause a smell in the autumn/Winter months and significantly reduce convection resulting to higher fuel bills . Retired heating engineer

A great, clean cottage close to the centre of town and with physical parking.

We only catered for breakfast, but the kitchen is sufficient for cooking meals. Goodie welcome bag is a nice touch and substantial compared to some. We are only a family of 3, but would also work for a family of 4, or two couples (one couple would have separate beds).

Blacksmiths Cottage was an ideal bolthole for the two of us.

Nice neat kitchen, comfy bed, two parking spaces and a suntrap terrace looking down the high street of Lyme. The terrace was lovely in the morning, with your first cup of tea (when it wasn't raining) and before the town fully came to life. The goody bag and milk in the fridge was appreciated, and needed, as we forgot to bring teabags and coffee. Dishwasher tabs, clothes washing tabs, cleaning fluids etc were all supplied. However, the location was both the biggest selling point and biggest downfall. It is ideal for the town, the shops, all the pubs and restaurants and the gardens and the beach. But it is noisy. Unless you are a heavy sleeper you'll be woken between 4 and 6, every day, by a bin lorry, a road sweeper, a delivery to the hotel opposite or vehicles revving their engines to bits to get up the hill. I know that can't be changed so bring your earplugs and you'll be fine! Also the main bedroom has two windows and light floods in (in fact I've never seen so many windows in a small house!). There is a streetlight right outside to help you see around inside at night. It could do with blinds or lining on the bedroom curtains. So bring an eye mask too! We don't cook when on holiday so can't comment on pots and pan but there is no salt, pepper or oil if you do intend to cook.

We have been to Blacksmiths many times.

The location near shops, Langmoor gardens and opposite Hotel are all positive as are 2 parking spaces.The cottage is also warm and cosy out of season. As the cottage is equipped for 4 guests and we pay the price for 4 guests and not two we would appreciate towels for 4. The bath towels are small and a change in the middle of the week is ideal. There is a very bright street light outside main bedroom. I woke up in the night thinking it was early morning, but it was 2am! Blackout curtains would be a good solution ( as you get in Preier Inns and other places.

This was our second stay at Blacksmith's Cottage, and it was a very enjoyable stay.

The property itself was as good as we have always found it.

Clean and comfortable especially with a less noisy new condensing boiler. However some minor housekeeping is needed. Some of the instructions were out of date. The dvd player was not connected. The Freesat handset does not switch off the audio text on the 'on demand' services.

We have stayed in Blacksmiths Cottage before which is an indication of how much we like it.

It is very conveniently situated, comfortable and well-equipped. It is rather expensive which perhaps reflects that it’s for four people, but four adults might be rather short of space, especially to accommodate luggage. It’s perfect for two.

We have visited Blacksmiths multiple times since 2012 as its location is ideal for us.

The property is spotlessly clean and recently redecorated. The recent additions of a new kitchen and an up-dated heating system make the house warm and cosy, ideal for out of season holidays. If the property is still available for rent next year we will be booking yet another holiday there. I would, without reservation recommend Blacksmiths to anyone looking for a holiday in Lyme Regis.

The property itself was in good order, clean, instructions clear and in an excellent position for the town.

However it's a bit dated, like a 90's time warp. VHS videos and cassette players for example, a lick of paint and modernisation would make this a really great place to stay. I would say the kitchen was modern and clean however, maybe some black out blinds in the main bedroom as well, the street light was quite noticable (as we are folk from a village in Oxfordshire)

We chose it for on site parking which is at a premium in Lyme Regis!

The cottage itself was lovely.

It was clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed for our weekend in Lyme Regis. The parking was a big bonus, being so close to the centre and seafront. However we felt disappointed with a few things. The noise from the hotel opposite, on Monday morning at 4am we were woken by their VERY loud laundry lorry and then it was 2 hours of lorry after lorry, not just a little bit of noise it was too noisey for us to get back to sleep. Then after our lovely relaxing weekend away, we then have to do chores, including take out the bins, one was full of glass bottles that we hadnt used. We also then have to completely strip the beds and towels etc. I find this odd. We have stayed in alot of cottages and never had to do either of these chores before. We came away to get away from chores but ended up having to do yours for you. We paid over £500 for 3 nights and we have to do these household chores. Its not v good customer service.

Loved our stay in blacksmiths cottage.

Great location near the town centre but not busy around the house and the road outside. Having private parking was fantastic. Property was perfect for us (couple with 17yr old) for 2 nights. Kitchen was well equipped and bedrooms were cosy. Main bathroom was fine. Great to have a separate wc as well downstairs. Would definitely recommend this cottage.

Everything about the property was ideal for visiting Lyme Regis, we couldn’t have asked for a better location.

The only disappointment was the boiler unable to deliver hot water. Whilst your local service staff were helpful it should have been checked that was working the morning before we arrived. British Gas had to come out to restart the boiler a few days later.

Great accommodation perfect for a family of 4.

The key collection information did not make it clear that the key box was at the property and not at the Office courtyard (where we have collected keys in the past).

Great cozy cottage

A very comfortable and higher-spec property with easy access to the ‘old’ centre of Lyme Regis - you are literally metres away from the shops (but just far enough away to be quiet and private) We appreciated the dedicated off-road parking facility and the fact that we could simply park our car, leave it and enjoy our winter break.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The cottage was spotlessly clean.

It’s in a wonderful location & has off street parking which is great. There’s everything you want in the cottage. The furniture & beds are comfortable. We are hoping to book again for the summer. I can recommend this cottage without reservation.

The upholstered chair needs cleaning, threadbare towels, dinner plates old and with brown stains and only three tea plates.

Lounge windows need cleaning (childs hand prints inside and seagull poo outside). You cannot deal with the seagull problem but the council needs to do something as it was not possible to use the terrace due to their aggressive presence.

Having stayed in many different properties in Lyme over the years this one is perfect location wise. Just a lovely walk through the gardens to the beach front and right in the town. Cute front little terrace to sit and watch the world go by, you can see the sea past the Bell Cliff and two parking spaces behind which is rare in the centre! Property is detached and quite compact but we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay 2 adults 2 children. Decor is an eclectic mix of older furniture which lets it down a little...but clean and tidy and all that you need. Overall I would definitely stay here again

Great little place.

Close to town with parking which is really important for us. Only criticism is that the beds were too hard apart from that it was really good.

We’ve been twice to The Blacksmith’s Cottage, it’s great, location, views, comfort, everything you want from a holiday home.

Fantastic location, perfectly situated in the heart of Lyme Regis.

Just a minutes walk to Tesco, and there are several takeaways, shops and restaurants within 5 minutes. A cosy cottage that is even better than in the photos, with lovely views of Golden Cap and the sea. Easy parking at the rear of the property with 2 spaces, so lots of space to get kids and luggage out of the car. The cottage was perfect for our family of 4, with 2 kids under 10. The modern (and very quiet) dishwasher and washer dryer in the kitchen was a brilliant addition. The electric shower was very nice too. The cottage is well maintained and the kitchen looked very new. Minor suggestion for improvement... a more comfortable mattress or firmer pillows in the master bedroom - the mattress felt fine, but as side sleepers we ended up with neck ache.

This was our second visit to Blacksmiths Cottage.

Very happy with everything.

Disappointed that the shower did not work but very pleased that a good new one was installed on the Tuesday.

On a safety point, there is no grab rail on the wall and this is really needed because it is easy to slip when climbing in to the bath to have a shower.

A lovely, centrally located property.

Very comfortable beds and warm house. Nicely fitted kitchen and good parking. However, the shower broke down on the Wednesday, we rang straightaway, reported the problem to a member of staff but never heard anything after that. We had to try and wash under a tap! Frankly, this was poor and I really feel that we should have some of our payment refunded.

Clean, comfortable and superb mattresses - clean and new kitchen equipment Front bedroom would benefit from blind to blackout street light close by on main road.

lovely position, great for beach and shops, ideal for 2 persons, a bit small for more, the only concern was the iron bedsteads at the bottom of the beds which for a tallish person meant sleeping diagonally

This is a comfortable cottage, well equipped and in a lovely position in Lyme Regis with lovely views over the town and the sea.

We were lucky enough to have lovely autumn weather. Really happy to make a return visit.

Loose tap in bathroom and loose hook on door.

Carpets are showing wear and stains. Also crack above terrace door.

We had a lovely time at the cottage it was great to have parking as it is a problem in Lyme Regis .

We would recommend the cottage to anyone it has everything you need and very clean, would go back again.

Lovely fully furnished cottage in a great position in Lyme Regis close to all amenities and the sea front.

A delightful holiday cottage, our second time back and we do hope to return again in the future.

(only one thing that I feel would make a good improvement - this is just for the owner- a new mattress on the double bed would be great. )

We have had an amazing long weekend here in Lyme Regis.

Our 2 year old daughter has loved the cottage and exploring (as have we all). The cottage is perfect and caters for literally everything you could ask for. Very cosy too. I have been coming to Lyme since I was a baby, and bringing our daughter here has been very special. the local aquarium was brilliant and very interesting and interactive for us all, especially Grace (she loved feeding the fish!) We would love to come back soon. Thank you for a lovely stay.
