Upside Down Cottage

This was our first stay here at upside down cottage.

Its a great location in a very pretty village although they call it a town as it has a Town Hall. We loved the cottage. The downstairs has a very comfy bed and a fabulous shower. The upstairs has a super kitchen and dining area and the two settees were very comfy. The house was very warm and we had the option of turning the heating up if we wished. It was very cosy. There are some lovely walks around Colyton along the river and around the village. A walk up to view point is worth the short climb and you can walk along that very quiet country lane to Seaton which will take you approx 50 mins to an hour. One thing I would say : if WIFI is something you cant do without then this is not a place for you. Although there is a library and plenty of places for a meal or coffee where you could get wifi. We actually loved not having WIFI for a week. The outside seating area could do with a little bit of TLC and we did have a struggle on arrival opening the KEY lock box but apart from that we loved it and we will be back.

Very private , quiet stylish and well maintained . The village is lovely with friendly locals. Ample facilities , great dog walks and a short distance to the beautiful coastline. We would deifinitely make a return visit .

Great cottage.

Tucked away behind the main house but totally private. Lounge upstairs was very comfortable. It was really spacious especially for 2 people. Everything you could need was there. Lovely big dining table, fully equipped kitchen. Shower was great, really powerful. Comfy bed and the location was quiet . Colyton is such a gorgeous village and we were mesmerised by all the beautiful houses and cottages. Highly recommend a walk through all the little streets and the church. Kingfisher pub was very much a great community pub with a welcoming atmosphere. Great stay. Thank you.

No WiFi or phone signal .

No smart TV which is the standard now Lovely accomodation but uncomfortable bed

We stayed at Upsidedown Cottage very last minute as Hoeseasons cancelled our stay the day before due to them messing up and having no dog friendly accommodation available.

... actually glad they did as we wouldn't have stayed here.The cottage is in a great location, plenty of amenities in the village and near Seaton and Lyme Regis. Clean and tidy cottage and nice little courtyard. The only small negative is the bed isn't that comfortable, apart from that, we had a great stay. Thank you

Upside Down cottage is a lovely old building that’s been cleverly adapted to make a nice holiday home.

The owner greeted us with some welcoming treats and flowers which was a nice gesture,thank you! Colyton is a great little town,we particularly enjoyed the tram ride across the wetlands to Seaton and would like to return.

The property was very nice and we enjoyed our three nights.

If WiFi is important then this might not be for you as it seemed to rarely function and the phone signal is poor here too. Location is great in a lovely village.

The Upside Down cottage is located in a lovely spot within the town of colyton, convenient walking to the town square, both pubs, the tram, garden centre & the seafood shop, Plenty of places for dog walking.

The parking was a godsend as this has become a necessity in the town. The cottage itself was clean & nicely decorated, with a homely family room & contained everything we needed for our stay. Things that can be improved; some of the windows were swollen & therefore difficult to open/shut. 95% of the time thd WiFi signal had only 1 bar, or dropped you, the 4G signal was also 1 bar throughout our stay, something that the owner has no control over but a reliable WiFi signal is therefore a must. The courtyard needs a good clean and weeding, it is not a space that invites you to use & the approach through the owners garden is overgrown & the main house lookis unkempt, We were disappointed before we entered the cottage. The mattress was uncomfortable & really needs upgrading, I notice this was raised in previous feedback & the washing machine was not plumbed in so we were unable to use. The negatives do not out-way the positives and we would consider staying again Sykes responded immediately to issues we had with the key box. .

Very clean and comfortable cottage and was suitable for our needs

It was dirty, a terrible smell of mould as I entered the property, no hot water although maintenance checked so I couldn't have a shower, sofas were worse and uncomfortable, no cutlery, no heating till 1200 at night, no switch to turn it on or off, maintenance could not find it or the boiler, a total disaster, I left the property Monday 7th I stayed 1 night as it was so depressing I suffer with anxiety and it was to upsetting to stay any longer and me and my daughter had to pay for a premier inn the rest of our break.

unable to turn rad on in shower room to dry towels, wash basin in shower room would not hold water plug faulty, the bedroom and shower rooms we felt were both quite cold, apart from the above it was a pleasant stay.

A few problems with the property including the downstairs sink not holding water, the TV remote not able to turn the TV off, the radiator in the bathroom not working, no outside light , very limited space to park despite asking on booking and why did the owner insist on sitting in her car on the Saturday afternoon rather than speak to us(very rude).

We won't be booking this property again.

Although I was aware of the lack of outside space I found the small courtyard very disappointing.

I don’t think it was grubby but it looked like it. Hardly a welcoming space to sit out in and only briefly sunny even in good weather because of the surrounding buildings. It would have been nice to meet or even know the name of the owner.

the patio so called garden was covered in lumps of moss of the roof and all pots and plants were in a terrible state trying to not walk into cottage without getting dirt everywhere was bad.

No wifi when asked owner she said its in and out password would not work either really old tv ariel sitting on radiator. The corner of the floor in bedroom was soaking wet did not not till i lifted my dogs bed was like it every single morning dirty windows all round no where to dry clothes and towels as it rained was really difficult. would never go back so dissappointed host not helpful.
