“Wonderful property with everything we needed for a relaxing family holiday.”

The garden and views were fabulous. Just a short drive from gorgeous beaches. Millers farm shop, just a few minutes drive away had a fantastic selection of local products. We would definitely return.

“We absolutely loved our week at Culverwells.”

The house is beautiful but it's the garden and surrounding countryside views that really make it. Comfortable beds, nice big kitchen and it's a good location for getting to the beach other nearby activities. We did a segway, an alpaca walk, a guided fossil hunt. Then back to Culverwells each evening for dining alfresco and badminton in the garden. Definitely one of the best places we've stayed.

“Lovely spacious cottage with fantastic garden room and views over the garden and open countryside beyond.”

So handy for the beautiful Burrows Farm Gardens. Everywhere was clean, comfortable and well decorated. The community shop was very convenient for essentials. A problem with the microwave was dealt within a few hours by the agent. A plug or washing up bowl for the kitchen sink would be a useful addition. A great place to spend a holiday in Devon

“We stayed over Christmas 2025 for a 10 day period as a party of 6 adults, a child and a baby plus a dog!”

We loved the property. The lay out meant you had ample space in the kitchen area but were always close by to the living room and adjoining dining area. The log burner was wonderful to have on but the entire place is also fitted with underfloor heating and the reality was the house was very warm and cosy. The location meant you could walk your dogs in the field next door and we could easily walk to the pub (torches needed). We had day trips to numerous beaches and a large Tesco was only minutes away but you definitely felt like you were in the unspoilt rolling fields of Devon. Beautiful house in a nice quiet location. We would highly recommended this house.

“We loved the property but abysmal experience with Sykes when I had an urgent concern with my booking - couldn’t find any number that worked to call, tried web chat which was ‘offline’, texted as per other option which took hours for anyone to reply, then no further replies after that.”

Was very stressful to feel you just couldn’t get in touch at all with Sykes. Eventually resolved issue myself. Appalling customer service, will not use Sykes again

Beautiful family home in a great location. Fabulous countryside views. Beautiful garden. We really felt at home there. Our daughter loved the trampoline and tree swing! The house is equipped with everything you’d need for your holiday. Lovely bottle of local wine to greet us on our arrival, which was a lovely touch! The cottage has been beautifully and sympathetically restored and is super warm and cozy! Very comfortable beds. There’s such a nice feel to the property. If walls could talk I’m sure they’d tell tales of many happy holidays!

“While the property was indeed lovely.”

I have to take issue with it being marketed as dog friendly. With signs plastered everywhere that dogs are to be kept only in the kitchen area, This is not mentioned anywhere on your website. You don’t realise until you arrive. I have no problems with dogs not being allowed upstairs, but being confined to one area only is NOT dog friendly. It’s dog tolerant at best. This should be mentioned before you book and travel.

“We had an absolutely fantastic week staying at Culverwells.”

The gardens were huge and the children had plenty of room to play whilst we sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful views. The beds were extremely comfortable and we all slept very well. Plenty of living space allowing more than enough room for two families. Well situated for both Dorset and Devon and a short car ride to the beach. A short walk to the local village, Dalwood, which has a shop and pub and some beautiful walks. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and if we visit the area again we will definitely look to stay at Culverwells again.

The two sofas in lounge were very low and elderly parents were unable to sit in them. Also recommend a stair gate to stop dogs going up stairs.

“Culverwells, was a lovely property to stay in.”

The information on the website doesn't make enough of the glorious views to rear of the property of hills and farmland. You can see for miles. We stayed there with another family. There were four adults and four young teenagers. The boys particularly enjoyed the piano in the lounge. The garden was lovely to run around in with a great rope swing. There is a recreation ground just up the road which the kids used too. The rooms were large enough for a short stay. We loved the jacuzzi bath and made good use of it. The house is just a short drive from Lyme Regis and Beer and there is a good farm shop called Millers a short drive away. The house is very pretty and had been renovated beautifully. Some doorways are low, so the taller of us had a few bumps. Just don't put your food bags on the heated floor as we did and end up with melted chocolate biscuits. I would recommend this property.

“This property really has the WOW factor!”

Situated in a beautifully quiet location, but close to Dalwood, with it's superb community shop and The Tuckers Arms which serves amazing food. I cannot think of anything negative to say about Culverwells. It has everything you need for a really relaxing holiday and is very well equipped. My 4 yesr old grandson had the time of his life playing in the garden, and with all the toys and games in the cottage. It's also a great place if you have a dog/dogs, but I would have liked to know prior to going that there are cattle in the adjoining field. My dogs were fine but it might be a problem for other people's pets. My grandson summed it up for us all when he said, 'can we stay here for ever!' Hopefully we will back, we loved it!

The only comment I would add is that it wasn't obvious who we should telephone if there was a problem. The property

Culverwells is a detached property set in a quiet and tranquil rural village of Dalwood in East Devon. The property has been decorated and furnished in keeping its charming country style whilst also benefiting from a large modern kitchen and bathrooms one with a jacuzzi bath and four bedrooms. Why not take advantage of the wonderful sun room which has two walls of bi-fold doors which allow you to enjoy the spectacular views over the surrounding countryside. This area is popular with walkers and has a variety of rambles possible from your own door. The Tucker's Arms in the village is a beautiful thatched old English pub with a cosy interior which serves fine ales and good food with a warm atmosphere. Culverwells is perfectly located for exploring the wonderful Jurassic coast with the popular seaside resorts of Lyme Regis perfect for fossil hunting, Beer, Seaton and Sidmouth just a short drive away. Guests interested in indulging in local produce will find an abundance in the area, the acclaimed Lyme Bay Winery is a short drive away and farms throughout the area provide cheese and meat, whilst the proximity to the coast ensures fresh seafood. A perfect property for a family or group of friends to escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy breathing fresh country air close to the coast.
