“Accomodation is very comfortable ,clean and well equipped.”

Unfortunately during the hot weather the cottage becomes very hot on the upper floor(even with doors and windows open). Thank goodness the lower floor made sleepng easier, being cooler. Would recommend if you want a quiet,secluded location. Well situated for accessing Devon,Dorset and Somerset.Would happily return in the future.

“The property was very modern and clean and facilities were excellent and in a very quiet location.”

The only downside was the access road to the property the last part it had many potholes and several high parts in the middle which made it very difficult driving in a car

“A hidden gem!”

I almost didn't want to write this review because I wanted to keep this place for ourselves, but it's actually too good not to write a review! Everything was absolutely perfect about the stay here. The house is well equipped, is comfortable, is cool downstairs (sleeping area is downstairs, (you will see why when you get here)) when it's very very hot. We stayed in that super hot week in May and the sleeping area was lovely and cool and the beds were comfy. Welcome basket was a lovely touch and the grounds with river you can walk along are sublime. The location is incredibly peaceful, no traffic AT ALL as you are in the middle of nowhere - but only a 10 min drive from Axminster. Thanks for a lovely stay from all of us :)

The Cottage Middle Westwater is a charming detached retreat offering the perfect blend of comfort, privacy and rural beauty, tucked away in the peaceful countryside just outside Axminster. Approached via a long driveway and surrounded by rolling fields, farmland and the gentle sounds of the River Yarty, the cottage provides a tranquil escape from the bustle of everyday life. The cottage has been cleverly designed in an upside down layout, allowing guests to step straight out from the first-floor living space onto an elevated patio with sweeping countryside views. It’s the perfect spot for morning coffee, leisurely lunches or evening drinks as the sun sets over the valley. A large lawn stretches out below, ideal for children to play or for simply relaxing in the fresh Devon air. Inside, the first floor is bright and welcoming, with an open-plan living area that includes a stylish and fitted kitchen, a dining space and a cosy lounge with soft sofas and a log burner for cooler evenings. The windows frame the surrounding landscape beautifully, making it easy to feel connected to nature even while indoors. A cloakroom is also located on this level for added convenience. Downstairs, the cottage offers two comfortable bedrooms. One is a double, while the other features twin beds that can be converted into a king-size on request, making it ideal for couples, friends or small families.
