Graham “Lovely cottage.”
Lovely location.
Lovely location.
- Graham, July 2025 -
Barry “We enjoyed the cottage very much.”
The gardens were lovely and well kept. An additional part of the garden was shaded with a stream nearby a perfect spot to sit on a hot day. The views all around were lovely. The host made us very welcome
- Barry, June 2025 -
Susan “We thought we had cleared everything but on returning home realised we had left something in the washing machine.”
We contacted the owners and they very kindly laundered our items and sent them on which we received within a few days. We are truly grateful. It's been our second visit and we absolutely love it. It's the most beautiful and tranquil spot and within easy reach of much loved destinations.
- Susan, June 2025Hi Susan You're more than welcome. When you come from a family who leave things behind all the time we're just repaying all the efforts of others sending our stuff back too! We once had to return a forgotten airfyer so a few items of clothing is pretty minor really :-) Property Owner

Susan “The cottage was spotlessly clean and in a very pretty, peaceful location.”
The owners were really helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. We had a lovely week visiting places in East Devon and managed a trip to Longleat Safari Park. Our daughter and granddaughter joined us midweek and enjoyed it so much that before we left for home our daughter booked for them to go there again in August. Thank you for everything.
- Susan, June 2025Thanks so much for the feedback. I saw your daughters booking come through! We're delighted that you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

Eileen “Lovely property, we both enjoyed our stay, very quiet, tidy gardens, clean rooms and everything we needed to hand.”
A pint of milk and a bottle of Dalwood wine awaited us in the fridge and plenty of tea and coffee. The only suggestion we would make is that the directions to find the property could be altered to come through the village of Dalwood, rather than the property post code as it takes you down very long , rough, potholed lanes , but once we found the other way in, it was much better. Thank you for a lovely stay.
- Eileen, June 2025Thanks for your lovely review and the feedback on the directions. I've contacted Lyme Bay Holidays and asked them to update the directions with your suggestion for future guests. Thanks again and we're very pleased that you enjoyed the cottage Property Owner

Belinda “The whole experience was a pleasure.”
The interior and exterior of the property was spot on. There was everything you could need. It was so peaceful and the dog was safe in the garden as no traffic passes by. It is ideally located for many nearby resorts. I would definately recommend it and hope to go back myself.
- Belinda, May 2025Thanks for your lovely review. Hopefully we'll see you again sometime! Property Owner

Robert “We had a wonderful stay at Cider House.”
The setting of the house is beautiful as is the accommodation. Such a lovely place to stay. Everything you need and the bed was so comfortable. The place was spotless. Just sitting listerning to the birds and the river was so relaxing.Easy walking distance to a great pub. Lots of places to visit. Thank you again for a lovely stay. Molly our dog love it too.
- Robert, May 2025We're very please you enjoyed your stay. Thanks for the lovely review Property Owner

Noreen “This was a charming property in a beautiful setting.”
We had everything we needed and more. The outside gardens were well maintained and a lovely place to sit. The only sounds being the horses in the next field, the stream and the birds. It was very restful which is what we needed. Our son has profound learning difficulties and can struggle in new places. He was very settled here and happy. We would definitely recommend this place,
- Noreen, May 2025Thanks for taking the time to write a lovely review. We're really pleased that you all found the cottage a restful place to spend your holidays. Property Owner

Stephen “We had a lovely week at The Cider House in Dalwood.”
Great place to stay along with our dog, lots of outdoor space and beautifully kept grounds, wonderful riverside setting with horses and woodpeckers and 10-15 mins walk along quiet lanes to The Tuckers Arms, an excellent village pub.
- Stephen, April 2025We're very pleased that you had an enjoyable stay at the cottage. Thanks for leaving the review Property Owner

Lovely welcoming cottage set in beautiful surroundings. The cottage had everything we needed, comfortable lounge and bedrooms, well equipped kitchen, amazing garden. Short drive to beautiful coastal and cliff walks and can also walk from the cottage to The Tuckers Arms. Everything was so inviting we will be back! Thankyou!

..we all loved it and hope to come back.
- Ayline, August 2024So pleased you loved it! Thanks Property Owner
-
Philip “Nice little cottage in lovely grounds, it has everything thing you would need.”
The only downside would be for drivers of larger vehicles, who will need to be wary of some of the nearby roads, which can be a bit narrow in places, but don't let it put you off.
- Philip, August 2024Thanks for your kind words about our cottage and we're very pleased you enjoyed your stay Property Owner
-
Hazel “Very delightful, comfortable, well kept, cosy accommodation with all requirements met in beautiful garden and countryside surroundings.”
The narrow lanes to access the property require some reversing at times.
- Hazel, July 2024Thanks for your feedback Hazel and we're delighted that you had an enjoyable break. Property Owner

Kim “The property is located in a very rural spot in the Devon Countryside and is approached by very, very narrow country lanes.”
Driving to and from the property is not for the feint hearted. It is an excellent spot for walking in the surrounding countryside and provides a very tranquil area in which to relax. A very good local pub is accessible along an enjoyable walk along a local stream. Although the property has two bedrooms, the living area is small, and the property only has one toilet. Sadly, the WiFi buffers when watching Netflix. Overall a very nice property in which to stay.
- Kim, July 2024 -
Marja “A unique location, especially with the dog.”
Lovely area to walk around. There is a good pub at walking distance and a community shop.
- Marja, June 2024Thanks for your lovely feedback. Property Owner
-

A little bit of paradise perfect for relaxing and recharging. An absolute pleasure to have stayed.
- Karen, June 2024We're very glad that you enjoyed your break "in a little bit of paradise"! Your kind words are much appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback. Property Owner
-
Darren “Lovely cottage and location, we have a very relaxing mini break.”
Local pub is great very friendly and welcoming and excellent food. Cottage was very comfortable and well equipped. Lack of a welcome pack a little disappointing, no fresh milk or bread. Would be useful if some washing up liquid was provided too. Please note the radiators in the Kitchen & Bathroom get super hot and would be dangerous for young children, I actually burnt myself after showering on the bathroom radiator so we had to cover it with towel to avoid doing it again!
- Darren, April 2024 -
Bethan “Lovely warm cottage with lovely walks on the doorstep”
- Bethan, March 2024We're very please you enjoyed your stay and appreciate the feedback. Thanks! Property Owner
-
Kevin “A gem of a place.”
Thoughtfully equipped throughout. Cosy and warm ... even though it was (mostly) a cold, windy March outside. Very peaceful. Streamside walks straight from the door. Dalwood is ten minutes away that way ... where the Tuckers Arms is a delight. The food there is exceptional quality and value. Jurassic Coast is twenty minutes away by car. Would recommend.
- Kevin, March 2024Thanks for the lovely feedback and we're very lucky indeed to have such a good local pub available to us. Property Owner
-
Alison “A gem of a place!”
Gorgeous self contained cottage. Ample room for 2 kids and 2 dogs.
- Alison, December 2023Thanks for the lovely review. We're delightedl you enjoyed the cottage. Property Owner

Ian “Turn off the A35 onto Loughwood Road towards Dalwood Village and you instantly travel back 50, 60, 70 years to an age when parents taught their children good manners and people had time for each other.”
The narrow lanes seem to regulate the pace of life. No boy racers here! The Cider House is set in peaceful countryside behind a once working farm and what hits you immediately is the silence. Once darkness falls a glance up to the night sky takes your breath away. The house has a pleasant atmosphere and is comfortable but take sundries such as salt and pepper with you. The village boasts a Community Shop which is rather expensive but has some little gems, such as delicious dry cured bacon. The nearest supermarket is 5 miles away in Axminster. The village pub, The Tuckers Arms, is warm and welcoming and serves good food but be sure to book a table. Nearby Lyme Regis (9 miles) is good for seafood but don’t expect too much from Honiton Market (it may be better in season, but our visit on an October Tuesday had three stalls). It’s hard to see how anyone can fail to enjoy their stay at the Cider House. We had a super time.
- Ian, October 2023Thanks for taking the time to write this review, we really appreciate it. We#re very pleased that you had such a lovely stay! Property Owner

Maureen “Cottage was lovely ,but roads to it were horrendous.”
We were very pleased with the cottage, and plenty of space for dogs.We think there should be some indication of the state of the roads, in description. It spoiled holiday to some extent, because we were not inclined to use the roads again in the evenings, as we normally do to go out for a meal, so therefore we had to eat in the day, or buy food to cook in cottage.
- Maureen, September 2023Thanks so much for you positive feedback on the cottage. The local roads have been in poor condition. Thankfully repairs have been carried out and they are now better but I'm really sorry that it impacted on your stay. It's obviously most frustrating for us as it's out of our control and we do our best to ensure that guests have an enjoyable stay. Property Owner

Marion “We had a lovely time, thank you.”

Lynn “Beautiful cottage in peaceful surroundings.”
Well equipped .Very friendly owner. Road too it a little difficult due to potholes. Pleasant walk to the village. Tucker's arms excellent food. Electric pylon close but not disabled from the property. Would definitely recommend Cider barn and go again.
- Lynn, July 2023Thanks for your positive review and thankfully now the major potholes have been repaired :-) Property Owner
-
Andy “This is a lovely cottage in a beautiful and remote location.”
Unfortunately the cottage was not as clean as we expected, and the furniture shown in the profile pictures was not in the cottage. The bed was also uncomfortable. On the plus side the gardens and surroundings are great for exploring and unwinding.
- Andy, July 2023Thanks for your feedback. I’m sorry that you were disappointed with some things at the cottage. We take all clients comments on aboard and have ordered new mattresses for the beds. In response to previous feedback we upgraded the living room furniture to a larger and more luxurious sofa but haven’t yet had an opportunity to update the photos. In relation to the cleaning, I’m very disappointed that the cottage was not as clean as you would have expected and we will review our cleaning schedule. Property Owner

Paula “Beautiful location and lovely comfortable cottage.”
A hot tub would finish it off perfectly. Would definitely come again. A couple of suggestions to maybe consider would be having a dog shower or outside tap to wash down dogs when they get muddy or roll in cow dung and a stair gate at the bottom of the stairs to prevent small children and dogs going upstairs. Ps don’t swap the washing machine for a dishwasher would prefer to wash dishes than hand wash muddy clothes :) Thank you for renting out your beautiful cottage
- Paula, July 2023Hi, thanks for your feedback and we're very please you enjoyed your stay. The outside tap is a very good idea, we'll try to get one organised during the winter renovations this year and agreed it's easier to wash dishes than hand wash clothes! Property Owner

Alisdair “Enjoyable stay in a lovely cottage, with a delightful garden, in a quiet location.”

Abigail “We had wonderful break at The Cider House, situated in the stunning village of Dalwood.”
We were 3x adults and 1x teenager plus our small dog. Although the cottage looks small on the outside, it actually felt very spacious with good sized bedrooms, vaulted ceiling and beautiful garden area. The cottage and grounds absolutely met all our needs and creature comforts. You can access the village by a short walk along the river and walking the country lanes is equally pleasant as hardly any road traffic. Waking up to the sound of birdsong and the babbling stream was the tranquil break we needed. Thank you so much!
- Abigail, April 2023Thanks Abigail, We're very pleased you had a restful break and enjoyed the cottage. Thanks for the kind comments, we appreciate it :-) Property Owner

Thank you .
- Celia, October 2022So pleased you enjoyed it! Thanks Property Owner
-
Karen “Lovely barn in stunning setting.”
Quite off the beaten track but ideal for exploring inland or the Jurassic coastline which is just a short drive away. The barn is well equipped, but would benefit from a dressing table and mirror in each bedroom, just a very minor tweak to an otherwise perfect holiday let. I would definitely recommend it to my family and friends.
- Karen, October 2022Hi Karen, delighted that you enjoyed your holiday. We'll be making a few improvements this winter and will be taking account of your suggestions and others left in the guest book. Property Owner

Danella “We wish we could have stayed longer - the Cider House is such a gorgeous place.”
The garden is a particular bonus and the BBQ too. We had everything we needed (and some things we didn't strictly NEED but did appreciate, like the Smart TV and Scrabble!). Anyone unfamiliar with Devon needs to be prepared for the narrow lanes in the surrounding area and if you can, do visit the Dalwood village shop!
- Danella, August 2022Many thanks Danella, we think it's a pretty special place too :-) Property Owner
-
