    “Very disappointed with the unclean crockery and cutlery and dirty mugs, pans and dishes.”

    we had to wash up before we used any and the kitchen bowl was dirty. The property is in need of a dishwasher felt the washing machine was a waste for a rented property, we also felt the surfaces hadn't been cleaned or the floor for some time and found ice cream wrappers under sofa cushion and windows were in need of a deep clean. appreciate the age of the property but too many cobwebs for our liking. However, the beds and bathroom were fresh and adequate except one of the on-suites had a very ...

However, the beds and bathroom were fresh and adequate except one of the on-suites had a very impersonal toilet. we had a heavy downpour of rain and the upstairs bathroom roof window was leaking badly as was the shower door which was difficult to open and close. all the above sounds petty but for £1900 for the week it was not a fair or acceptable price to pay,

The property

The Forge was originally the Rousdon Estate's blacksmith's forge. This listed Victorian building has been completely refurbished in a Tuscan farmhouse style, offering very high quality accommodation with a wealth of character. Features include huge beams and cathedral ceilings, terracotta flooring, real slate kitchen tops and a huge Tuscan style fireplace incorporating a large cast iron stove. This spacious property offers two double bedrooms, one on the ground floor via a short flight of steps, and the other on an open mezzanine floor above the lounge area. Both bedrooms offer ensuite shower and w.c. facilities. The lounge also has a double sofa bed adding flexibility to sleeping arrangements. The large open plan kitchen, lounge and dining area offers dinner seating for 8, as well as a second seating area in front of the large wood-burning stove. A welcome pack for your arrival ensures a great start to your holiday and will include milk, tea and a selection of locally sourced produce and treats. Outside there is a patio area complete with outdoor log burner and garden furniture. Ideal for the glass of wine before dinner! The Forge is part of the beautiful and historic Rousdon Estate, set on the stunning Jurassic coast, part of the World Heritage coastline. The estate sits on the Devon and Dorset border just five minutes by car from Lyme Regis. The area is a haven for wildlife and the estate grounds cover 350 acres of pasture and woodland. Please note: A maximum of two dogs are accepted.
