Rather dated internally. Kitchen needs maintenance- broken oven door handle, broken bread board. No sharp knives. Limited kitchen tools compared with most. No non stick pans. No pack of tips for the property other than a mini white board with the WiFi code and suggesting you call 999 in an emergency. We’ve used Sykes several times but this one is not a return to. In fact the poorest in my experience. One saving grace is the beds everyone said were comfortable.

We were sorry to read your review, particularly as it differs significantly from the feedback received from previous guests. You reported that the shower door had come off its runners on the day before your departure.The owner offered to attend and rectify the issue, despite this involving a four-hour round trip. However, you advised that you were happy for the repair to be carried out during the scheduled changeover the following day. Temple House underwent a comprehensive renovation four years ago to a very high standard, and the owner continues to invest in the property's upkeep and maintenance. As such, we do not recognise the property as being dated. The housekeeping team had not previously reported a broken oven handle, but this will be inspected during their next scheduled visit. The damaged chopping board has already been removed, and there are three alternative boards available for guest use. The knife block and cookware provided are of good quality; however, we will ask the housekeeping team to check the sharpness of the knives on their next visit. The kitchen is equipped in line with the property's inventory and is stocked with the items expected for self-catering stays. A welcome folder is provided, sorry if you did not find this. The white board holds the most useful infomration required in an emergency, the property address and the emergency, the whiteboard provides the key information guests may need in the event of an emergency, including the full property address and the emergency contact number. The owner takes great pride in letting Temple House and is committed to providing guests with the best possible holiday experience. We are sorry that your stay did not meet these expectations.
