    “Holly Cottage is beautifully furnished, quiet, very clean and extremely comfortable.”

    There were a few shortcomings; there is no iron or ironing board in the property, no tea pot, and a lack of wine glasses. While we knew there was no dishwasher it seems an oversight that a property of this standard doesn’t have a dishwasher. Of all the holiday accommodations we’ve stayed in this one did seem lacking in the provision of additional amenities, e.g there was no welcome pack. It would have been good to have had a few basics provided like salt and pepper and shower gel. I also ...

I also feel it would be good to consider the waste of individual washing up liquid tubes and sponges that shed plastics …this is a coastal location and maybe more thought could be given to caring for the local environment than the convenience and waste of washing up packs. There were no instructions for the hob or oven that some might find difficult to use. The guide book in the house was outdated with many businesses no longer trading. I think that there could be a little more clarity regarding whether it is Lyme Bay holidays or Sykes you are contacting, there seems a lot of confusing cross branding. On arrival we found the front garden covered in waste from the bin bags left out. Seagulls are an issue in Lyme but maybe a proper dustbin would help! Clearing up refuse was not the ideal start to our break. There was a lot of debris around the back door, plastics, leaf litter and other debris that looked like it had been there a while. My main gripe is the total lack of support from Sykes. We tried ringing different numbers provided, no reply even after long waits. We sent a message via WhatsApp and while it said someone would be in contact we heard nothing. Absolutely awful service. Overall a beautiful little cottage that the owners have clearly put a lot of care and love into that a few little improvements would make absolutely perfect.

The delightful seaside town of Lyme Regis has much to offer its visitors, boasting a maze of narrow streets filled with craft and antique shops, galleries and cafes. Take a stroll along the world-famous Cobb causeway overlooking the ancient harbour, where fishing trips can be enjoyed, or try your hand at fossil hunting in the area. The scenic coastal path offers excellent walking opportunities and spectacular views of the stunning Jurassic coast, whilst the gently shelving sands and sparkling waters of Lyme Bay provide the perfect place in which to relax and unwind. A holiday destination to savour!

Note: The Cottage is accessed via a steep pedestrianised lane and access to Woodmead Carpark can only be accessed by navigating the steep hill - access is not suitable for the elderly or people who struggle with mobility.
Note: Please be aware that the property is visited by a gardener once every two weeks to keep the property looking lovely and for your enjoyment. They will attend on alternative Thursdays between 1pm- 5pm and will knock to check you are happy for them to access the back garden through the property. This is starting from the 26th March 2026 and will run until the end of Dec, starting again in March 2027.
