We thought everything was excellent. The only difficulty we had was getting the key code in plenty of time. We got it on the day of travel, but this was quickly sorted by the company when I rang. A really excellent stay.

“A lovely cottage in a beautiful village.”

Very clean and well maintained. Easy access to both Hive beach and the local pubs. Minor maintenance problems were dealt with very efficiently by Stephanie at Lyme Bay holidays. Although very well equipped, maybe a set of wine glasses would be good as opposed to the ‘odds & sods’ in the cupboard. We graded the comfort option lower as we all felt the mattresses were too soft. Also, very confused on the rubbish disposal instructions as we came across two differing sets of instructions. We deposited our bin bags into the wheelie bin and left it for collection on the Friday morning as no one had appeared before the refuse lorry arrived. A man did appear late in the afternoon to collect our rubbish by which time ours had gone! Lastly, We also descaled the kettle due to deposits from it in our water. Minor problems, which did not affect our enjoyment of the cottage.

Dear Mr Bennett, thank you for taking the time to write a review for us. I am pleased the maintenance problems were resolved quickly. I am not sure what has happened with the wine glasses, we expect to hear from the house keeping team if replacements are needed so we will rectify the wine glass situation. The rubbish collections have been problematic! The cottage waste is collected by Dream Cottages a partner organisation on a Saturday; originally it was Friday clearly we have overlooked checking the instructions are up to date, my apologies for the confusion. Again the cleaner should have checked the kettle, disappointing that you had to do it, I am sorry. On a positive note I am pleased the problems did affect the enjoyment of your holiday! It’s a perfect mixture of thatched cottage charm and modern amenities and space. The garden room is so lovely filled with air and light. Burton Bradstock is the perfect location, a couple of good pubs and a stones throw from the beach. I would highly recommend anyone booking Stable Cottage, you won’t regret it !!

“Stable Cottage is an absolutely lovely property in a great location in Burton Bradstock Village.”

It’s a 10 minute walk from Hive Beach and 5 minutes from the lovely Three Horseshoes Pub and the bus stop. As well as the pub, we had dinner a couple of times at the Seaside Boarding House and The Parlour too and we enjoyed great food at both. The cottage is spacious and beautifully furnished and decorated. The kitchen is the best equipped of anywhere I have ever stayed. Alexa in the kitchen was great fun, mainly used though for egg timing, music and radio. We love Burton Bradstock and this part of Dorset and very much hope to return to this property. Highly recommend.

We are naturally disappointed to read your comments about the difficulty that the low beams/ceilings may cause tall people as this is mentioned in the information about the cottage. We are concerned that you have rated the cleanliness so poorly without providing any detail; to date we have never received such a poor rating. Living close by we are frequently at the cottage and know our cleaner well and we keep a close eye on the standard which she is always keen to maintain. “Cottage was lovely, in a beautiful location.”

The en suite toilet seat was broken when we arrived but managed with it for the week. The blind on right hand side door of master bedroom was broken at the bottom, think it just needed the screws putting in but didnt have a nut. The seating area in the main lounge - the setees and chairs were low and could do with a bit more padding but beautiful garden and plenty of space to spread out, we have really enjoyed our stay. Having Alexa was good to put the tunes on too! The welcome pack was a fab gesture, lovely treats. We will be returning, thanks for a wonderful stay.

I am sorry you had to endure a broken toilet seat for the duration of your stay, we do have a maintenance contract with Lyme Bay, so should you stay again please do call them should you have any problems. We have repaired the blind, thank you for bringing that to our attention. Not sure what we can do about the settee’s but we will consider changing the 2 older chairs at the end of the season. “What a gem of a cottage!”

With so many beautiful places to visit in this part of Dorset, Stable Cottage is the perfect base for you to stay. The cottage itself is presented very well & has all mod cons & amenities, a real home from home. There was also a lovely welcome pack provided upon arrival, such a lovely gesture. There is a compact, private garden at the rear of the cottage with birdsong or the local church bells being the only sounds you hear. We would not hesitate in returning to Stable Cottage & cannot recommend it highly enough to any potential visitors. Two nice pubs are also in the village, only a few minutes walk away, along with a Post Office, a Petrol Station (with mini supermarket) & the picturesque Hive beach less than ten minutes walk away. I guarantee that you will not regret booking this beautiful cottage.

“Beautiful location and comfortable spacious cottage.”

Well equipped kitchen and extended garden room looking out onto enclosed garden. Welcome pack on arrival was much appreciated after a long journey! There are two pubs within 5 min walk where we had two great meals. Hive beach 20 mon walk away with cafe and breakfast. We had a slight issue with washing machine. We ran a small white wash but machine failed to drain, likely due to previous use. The maintainance team were there within an hour to fix it.thankyou.Booking and queries were easy and team very helpful. A lovely relaxing week exploring Dorset.

Super welcome pack- very much appreciated by all. The attention to detail in the cottage was lovely, a real home from home with all the bedrooms super comfortable. The main bedroom was if anything a little too warm even with the radiators turned down! We just opened the windows for a little while before sleeping. Kitchen was very well equipped and the Aga though traditional looking is electric so fully controllable. We had a really lovely few days stay in ‘Twixtmas’ and highly recommend Stable Cottage.

“Stable Cottage is beautiful, it's the perfect place to stay in Burton Bradstock.”

Our family of four were very comfortable during our stay, the cottage had everything we needed. The welcome pack was a lovely touch and we throughly enjoyed it. During our stay we enjoyed walks around the village and to Hive Beach, along with day trips to Charmouth, Lyme Regis, Bridport and Weymouth. Dinner at The Three Horseshoes was fantastic as always, and the fish and chip van on Thursday night was a bonus.

“This is a great cottage in Burton Bradstock, which is thoughtfully designed and decorated.”

The modern extension is a triumph and the main bedroom is much larger than the photos show, so that there is no problem with sloping roof or low beams. Our only irritation is the request to strip the beds, bag up towels etc on day of departure - it's a busy last morning packing up without this extra chore. This would not put us off returning though!

“Kitchen and lounge areas well up to speed and satisfactory in every way - upstairs only suitable for 2 adults plus children because of sloping ceilings.”

Bathroom shower space again compromised- both showers produced very low results and performance. Very disappointed not to receive Welcome Pack, especially when as we were leaving the next guests pack arrived- she assured us ours had been delivered on Saturday 30/9! It should also be noted that fire extinguishers were 3 years out of warranty- not good in a thatched cottage!

“We had a lovely stay.”

The location is amazing and is local to the beach, a great pub (the three horseshoes) and plenty of walks. We stayed with our 2 year old and 2 month old. The master bedroom is big enough to fit a travel cot and my 2 year old slept in a double bed. The door handles are high enough that he couldn’t leave the room which was good as no stair gate. The kitchen was well equipped and we received a lovely welcome pack, but there were no basic items provided such as, olive oil, salt, pepper, dishwasher tablets, or washing machine tablets. We had to keep our 2 year old out when cooking as the Agar gets hot to touch, but this wasn’t a problem and the sun room had plenty of space for him to play with his toys. We really enjoyed our time at the property and the village it’s located in is very quaint. We would definitely return again!

I am sorry that there were no basic grocery items provided, we questioned this with Lyme Bay holidays and were advised that since Covid nothing could be left. I have spoken to them again and we have agreed that we can leave some basic grocery items as long as we check the dates. The property

Located in the heart of the picturesque village of Burton Bradstock, Dorset is Stable Cottage, a charming, thatched cottage made of the ham stone this part of Dorset is renowned for. Perfect for families or friends this stunning three-bedroom dwelling is situated close to beaches and the UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coast and is a wonderful location for enjoying all that this part of Dorset has to offer. The spacious and well equipped kitchen with dining area provides guests with a wonderful sociable space with ceiling beams giving the room character in abundance. The range oven is perfect for conjuring up meals which can be enjoyed together around the dining table. The spacious lounge with high vaulted ceilings is a stunning room with and large full height glass doors opening on to the rear garden and flooding the room with light. A bright and contemporary feel, the owners have added careful splashes of colour throughout which compliment the mix of newer and period furnishings. The large wall mounted TV and electric wood burning effect stove, make this a room you’ll want to spend time in. The large sliding doors open onto the south facing walled garden with mature trees and colourful cottage style planting. Stone steps lead from, the lounge to a seating area with table and chairs which is perfect for dining alfresco and with a bench and summer house providing a tranquil spot to sit with a book or glass of something chilled and enjoy the setting. When it comes to nighttime, there is a spacious kingsize bedroom with ensuite shower room and two further double bedrooms, all with ceiling beams and sloping ceilings and furnished to provide guests with a comfortable night’s sleep. A family bathroom with bath and shower over, is also located on this floor. Burton Bradstock is wonderful choice for visitors to the area with so much to see and do. There are two popular village pubs, The Three Horseshoes and the Anchor Inn both within distances and specialising in locally sourced produce. Hive Beach at Burton Bradstock is a coarse sand & shingle beach with views all the way along Chesil Beach to Portland in the east and the East Devon Coast to the west on a clear day. The Hive Beach café, located on the beach is open all year round and a great spot to enjoy a local seafood dish maybe even treating yourselves to a West Bay lobster or crab. Nearby West Bay is a charming fishing village and harbour located on one of the most dramatic stretches of the Jurassic Coast. With delightful beaches and a wonderful selection of places to eat that surround the harbour, West Bay is a favourite destination for holidaymakers and day trippers a like. Bridport offers visitors a great choice of fascinating attractions, many of which celebrate the heritage and art influences in the town. Beer lovers will enjoy taking a tour of Palmer’s, England’s only thatched brewery, with all the ales made to a centuries old process. A wonderful coastal village in Bride Valley on Dorset's picturesque Jurassic Coast, flanked by the River Bride. Burton Bradstock is the perfect spot for a peaceful break on England's south coast, with the South West Coastal Path running alongside for you walking enthusiasts. The village itself boasts 16th and 17th century thatched cottages as well as two pubs, a shop and a Post Office, the glistening Hive Beach is a wonderful spot to spend the summer days with the magnificent cliffs as a backdrop, there is also a lovely café to sit and relax in, once a year the Spring Tide Festival is held which would be worth lining up your holiday with! There are many attractions and activities to enjoy around here, with the stunning coastal resort of Weymouth making for an excellent day out. Alternatively, head inland to Dorchester and Yeovil for great shopping, architecture, eating and drinking.
