The property

Damson Tree Cottage is a wonderfully-presented cottage, located in the seaside village of Charmouth, Dorset, close to the beach and stunning coastal walks. Perfect for couples, friends, and extended family groups (max 5 adults or 4 adults and 2 younger children), this property has been cleverly configured to incorporate a separate bedroom annex with shower room, making this a great option for those wishing to share holiday experiences together. The area lies within the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty near the National Trust Stonebarrow Estate, which incorporates Golden Cap, the highest point on the south coast. The South West Coast Path takes in a stunning stretch of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, making this pet-friendly property a great choice for those wishing to explore the area on foot. The cottage has an impressive open-plan interior with vaulted ceilings and beams. A bright and sociable room, the kitchen is well equipped for a self-catering holiday and creating meals which the group can enjoy around the dining table. The sitting area is a relaxing space perfect for unwinding at the end of the day, where you can kindle the woodburning stove to create a wonderful ambiance when the temperatures dip. Outside, the cottage has an enclosed garden with pretty planting and shrubs. Step up to the raised patio seating area where you can dine alfresco or sit and enjoy a glass of something chilled. When it is time to return to bed, the first of the two bedrooms is located in the main part of the cottage. The large double room has a lovely outlook over the rear garden and benefits from an en-suite shower room. The twin bedroom is another good-sized room with a view out to Lyme Cobb in the distance and the family shower room conveniently located next to it. The third room is annexed from the main house and accessed via its own entrance. A fantastic addition to the cottage, this bedroom has a king-size bed with the convenience of a tea/coffee making area with fridge, perfect for that early morning coffee. Stairs lead from the bedroom to an impressive first-floor shower room with walk-in shower, wash basin, and skylight windows. Charmouth itself is a delightful seaside location with so much to offer visitors. The local shops and eateries are within walking distance and include Charmouth Bakery, renowned locally for its fresh bread and pastries, as well as two village convenience stores for your everyday essentials. For times when you prefer not to cook, Charmouth has two popular village pubs serving local food and beverages, and no trip to the seaside is complete without tucking into some freshly cooked fish and chips. The beach is popular with beachgoers and for water sports such as paddleboarding and kayaking. Renowned for its fossils, you can learn about the area's rich geology at The Heritage Coast Centre and get up close to Attenborough’s Sea Dragon and other fossil exhibits before perhaps joining one of the guided fossil walks to find your own fossils on the shore. The neighbouring seaside town of Lyme Regis is only a short drive away, with its iconic Cobb harbour, visitor attractions, and seafront, making it a great place to spend a day. Other popular places include the fishing village of Beer, with its beach and a stunning backdrop of limestone cliffs where you can watch fishermen hauling their catches ashore in traditional fishing boats, or Seaton, with its heritage tram and wetlands centre. However you choose to spend your days, Damson Tree Cottage is a wonderful choice for your next Dorset trip.
