The Penthouse

The Penthouse is in a great location and with beautiful panoramic views and there are 2 good sized balconies from which to admire the scenery whilst having a coffee, eating meals or just relaxing .

The beds are really comfy and the kitchen is well equipped on the whole - plus the settee and armchairs in the lounge area are great. The shower is excellent in the main bathroom. TV, dvd player, books and games were good to have on hand, even though we didn’t have occasion to use them - and the (unused) dishwasher and washing machine likewise. Minus points - the private parking (whilst quite a plus to have in Lyme) is VERY tricky and tight (being right in the more difficult corner for Flat 6) - and the en-suite bathroom is also really poky - plus the outdoor furnishings on the more frequently used smaller balcony have seen much better days! But even with these v wry few minor complaints, this is our third booking here and we’ve always enjoyed ourselves! (However, as we are both now 80, we probably won’t book again, as the several flights of stairs up to the Penthouse are hard work - especially when carrying suitcases and heavy shopping - so our next visit to Lyme Regis will probably see us booking an ‘easier’ property (though still with Lyme Bay Holidays, as they’ve always been great!)

The property was lovely and the views spectacular.

It could do with some updating in places but as this had been noted by other guests, it wasn't a surprise. Location was perfect for accessing everything we needed. We had a wonderful break and would return.

We had an excellent week in the Penthouse.

It was good to see that the owner had replaced the dishwasher since our visit last year. The apartment is well looked after, although may be the blinds in the bedrooms could be upgraded as they are looking a bit tired and let in alot of light? A lovely apartment though.

Thoroughly enjoyed our few days in 'The Penthouse'.

Yes it is about 50 steps up to it, but it's worth it in so many ways. A lovely, well-presented and cared for apartment, with superb views, great facilities and very quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed the local produce in the welcome pack and the short walk into town led to some more great local shops, with excellent local produce and goods. The walk through the gardens was a nice way of getting to / from the harbour and promenade as well. What's not to like? Very enjoyable.

We loved everything about The Penthouse.

It is spacious, light, beautifully fitted and very well equipped. Having parking onsite is a huge bonus. The location suited us very well but the Penthouse might not be suitable for the elderly or disabled due to the number of stairs. We certainly recommend it and shall definitely return.

Wonderful apartment with stunning views.

This was the third time we have stayed in it. Has everything you could need, even though it was January we had lunch on the terrace. Top quality fittings and appliances, the architect deserves praise for the design. Only issue is the stairs to get up there, it’s about 50 steps but it is worth it.

An excellent week in wonderful apartment.

More spacious than the listing photos show so that was a surprise. Beautiful view across Lyme Bay, in any weather! Bedrooms and shower rooms clean and very comfortable. This was our first stay at the Penthouse and we would certainly go back.

This was almost a 5-star review - the location and facilities were excellent.

What let it down was cleanliness in the kitchen - nearly everything we needed had to be washed before it could be used. And to make that worse, the dishwasher was unusable - it smelled and had mould growing in it: we tried running a hot programme with it empty, but that made little difference. We were called by the company on the Saturday morning and reported the problem - disappointingly, we were merely told that they would 'pass it on to housekeeping'. A 5-star response would have been to send someone round to sort the problem - instead, we spent too much of our weekend break doing the washing up...

A lovely property with amazing views across Lyme Bay!

Really good base for Lyme Regis and the surround areas. Real bonus to have car parking space, although some guests weren’t as mindful about their parking which made getting in and out of the small car park an issue. One day we were blocked in! Outside patio furniture had seen better days and was looking tired, as was some of the decor inside. The shower must have had a leak at some point and the flooring had been stained. But the apartment and communal areas were Very clean and tidy. It would have been nice to know that this was also a residential property, we had no problems with the neighbours but I would have liked to have been more informed and mindful. Apartment had everything we could have needed and we had a lovely stay.

The property was clean and comfortable and we would certainly stay again.

Our party comprised my wife and I, and my 86 year old mother in law. However, during our stay, we reported to LBH that several items were broken on arrival: a roller blind in the lounger/diner, a lifting door hiding the microwave (which made the microwave unuseable) and the dishwasher which the LBH maintenance chap concluded had a broken heating element, and, judging by the build.up of black mould on the inside, had been in this state for some time. For a luxury apartment a working dishwasher is a must - but all this suggests a poor level of maintenance overall and spoiled an otherwise super experience. We assume some compensation will be offered and that subsequent residents will be informed of these flaws which are surely easy to fix? Thank you.

We loved our few days at the Penthouse.

The weather was great so we spent most of our time sitting on the terrace admiring the stunning views of the sea. Everything was perfect. Very well equipped and comfortable. We will definitely be back. Thank you.

A lovely property with stunning views over Lyme Bay that I could stand and watch for ages.

Really nicely set up inside with everything I needed for a weeks holiday. A big bonus is having the parking space next to the property. A 5 minute walk to the beach via the high street or gardens is excellent. There is quite a gap in the windows in the main bedroom leading to a strong draught which does make the room chilly in cold/windy weather, which the heating struggles to deal with.

This was just perfect for 3 adults.

The parking was a necessity for us and why we chose the property but the fact that it was so close to town and the seafront was a bonus . Kitchen was well equipped for self catering . Beautiful views we would definitely stay here again

We had a lovely time at The Penthouse.

Very clean, cosy and comfortable. We found all we needed for a nice relaxing stay. The views were beautiful and the apartment is just a short walk to the shops and restaurants. There is a beautiful walk down through the gardens to the harbour and beach. We would love to stay again.

Enjoyed stay at Penthouse, it is light and spacious, the balconies fabulous, great view of the fireworks!

Bedding good quality but felt towels not penthouse quality, too small and crunchy. Well equipped kitchen although dishwasher left clean but loaded and had no salt or rinse aid in. Unable to work DVD and Wi Fi temperamental, we weren’t bothered but others may be. I think description should be more enlightening regarding access to property, again we weren’t unduly bothered but there is an awful lot of stairs to reach the penthouse, unpacking the car was hard work although grateful for the parking space. All in all a great few days away, the Penthouse was warm, comfortable and peaceful.

We love the view of Lyme Bay from the Penthouse, which took us there for the third year in a row.

We love the comfortable and spacious sitting room, the nice bathroom with shower, the 2 balconies, and the spacious and comfortable bedrooms. We have had another lovely and memorable holiday and love Lyme Regis. We were pleased that the landings and staircases had been painted and stair carpets cleaned; that has really improved the building. Room for improvement: we need and would wish for some storage space for our own food in the kitchen. There is a strong smell of smoke in the living room as if someone has been smoking in there. Suggest the carpet and soft furnishings need cleaning if that is the case

The Penthouse is absolutely perfect for two to four people - it has everything you need, enough space to spend a rainy day inside and nothing can beat the spectacular view of the Golden Cap from the southern balcony!

We enjoyed our stay immensely! The only tiny remark I have is that Lyme Bay Holidays please clarify in the booking confirmation / key collection notice, that the key safe for the Penthouse is located directly at the building, not at the agency offices like with other properties. That information would have saved my friends and I about an hour of trying to get the key out of the wrong safe, calling the help hotline and having to wait for assistance (after an 18h day driving), only for them to tell us that we were standing in front of the wrong key safes. I have booked other properties via Lyme Bay Holidays before, where the key safe was always at the office building, so I assumed the same for this property. I feel this could be made clearer in the key collection note shortly before the stay. Nevertheless, the long day driving and the late night arriving were forgotten once we got up the next morning to be welcomed by the marvellous view of Lyme Bay and the Golden Cap, so we will certainly be back :)

A bit tricky to find at first, the accommodation is very comfortable and the view is fantastic.

A lovely goody bag to welcome us and we felt at ease in this lovely penthouse. Walking distance to the sea front and shops, plenty to explore nearby.

Since my last visit to this property in Jan/ Feb 2023 it was great to find on this visit that the bathroom has been brought up to a far better standard that now matches the high standard of the rest of the Penthouse Really enjoyed my second stay at the Penthouse - great views & spacious light feel of the flat .

Lovely to be in such a quiet accommodation whilst being so close to the Cobb / beach plus also all the restaurants , shops etc

The Penthouse is splendid.

The views are spectacular and the location is convenient to all Lyme has to offer as well as the local bus. The cold weather prevented my use of the two decks, but they are amazing additions. I will return. Mary

The Penthouse was a perfect stay for our family of 3 adults.

Fantastic location with amazing views of the waves crashing over The Cobb. Everything we needed and perfectly clean and comfortable. We managed to get our large 4x4 in the parking space!! We loved the welcome pack, the only thing it lacked was some sugar sachets which we had forgotten to bring with us. Thanks for a brilliant stay we would definitely return

This is a lovely apartment and the photos don’t do it justice.

The parking space is a bit tight, but it’s great to have one and there are a lot of stairs, but you get the most amazing views. Everything we could wish for was provided including a lovely welcome hamper and milk in the fridge. Thank you!

We enjoyed our week’s stay at The Penthouse in Lyme Regis very much.

The apartment is modern, stylish and comfortable with great views from the balconies. There is a smallish allocated parking space but we managed to fit our Peugeot 3008 into it. There is no lift to the third floor so renters would want to have a reasonable level of fitness to access the apartment. The weather was mixed during our stay but between enjoying the ever changing skies and seas and watching Netflix on wet days it was a perfect break and a great base for exploring the coastline.

Fantastic flat and enjoyed the Welcome pack.

Car parking could have been an issue. Fortunately Flat4 could park in Flat5 space, which was lucky.

The bathroom is so much better with the new walk in shower. The views are stunning and the balconies are lovely. There is a great feeling of space and light and it’s a good space to be in if the weather is poor.

The panoramic views from the Penthouse were lovely.

The furniture needs upgrading. The seating area in the lounge looks grubby and uninviting. Definitely a need to provide fans for bedrooms because if you leave the windows open, the blinds are rattling all night. There should be a choice of a lighter duvet for hot weather as those provided were too heavy. Quite a surprise at the end of the stay, we then found out we had to strip the beds and remove all rubbish before departure, something we were totally unaware of. Fortunately, after contacting Lyme Bay Holidays this requirement was waived.

It’s a lovely flat with spectacular views.

We very much enjoyed our stay and would hope to stay there again. The only minor negative point is the tiny parking space - the parking space for the Penthouse seems to be the narrowest of all of the flats. This didn’t cause a major problem, but we had to ask the chap in flat 2 to move his car to let us out.

Have used this nice apartment a number of times and other than a few few small signs of wear and tear it never disappoints.

Lovely spot for a relaxing holiday only tempered slightly by the maintenance works. I felt the communication and level of information on contractors requirements could have been better and whilst we were able to vacate for much of the two working days, we did feel somewhat compromised. This will be a consideration when looking where to book next time but the only cloud on an otherwise pleasant stay. As a footnote and purely personal observation I am not sure the incorporation into Sykes Holidays has been a beneficial one as it feels less of a personal local service than before with "no reply" emails and option lists when calling.

Great flat and views.

Enjoyed my stay and team very helpful when issue with boiler - but bathroom really needs a refresh of paintwork / grouting/ extractor fan plus I was there 2 weeks & only a linen dropoff & no light cleanthrough or bedchanging - disappointing

Wonderful apartment with spectacular views.

Very comfortable we loved it. January was a bit cold to sit out but it would be fabulous in warmer weather. The real bonus is having an allocated parking space.

Really lovely property.

Loved the space, loved the views. Well-equipped and really comfortable. Fabulous place. Note for owner: there is a tiny leak from under sink in small bathroom. Noticed little pool of water collecting on floor over a couple of days - nothing huge but could cause damage if left for a long time.

Our second stay at the Penthouse .

We love the views and the peacefulness . Very much appreciate the well equipped kitchen. Bathroom starting to look a little tired. It feels like a home rather than an anonymous holiday let . It’s a bit of a walk up the stairs, but the positives far out way this small niggle, not for everyone and should be strongly emphasised on listing . Booked again for next year , disappointed that there was no discount for loyalty. Preferred when we dealt with a small independent holiday co.

Overall, we were very happy with our stay at the penthouse.

Great location, views and facilities. The apartment did smell musty when we arrived and continued throughout the stay. The seemed at its worse when we arrived back from a day out. The stairs were not a problem for us, but I could see how less able people, or those with young families would really struggle.

We loved the penthouse, the views and location were excellent, the only two negative comments would be the stair climb with suitcases, and the shower over the bath , could do with a handle on the wall for safety reasons.

Great holiday and would like to return .

The bathroom is a bit tired and needs updating. On the whole we think the Penthouse is a fabulous place to stay. We were able to entertain my sisters and husbands who were also staying in Lyme. The views are spectacular. We’ve been to Lyme several times and love it here.
