“What a fabulous property.”

Located in a small private road in a very quiet area. The property looked great on arrival and the inside did not disappoint either with virtually everything you could ever need from kitchen equipment, great WIFI, comfortable beds and good selection of TV channels . A real home from home feeling with the added bonus of fantastic views. Nice touch was the fantastic welcome pack which included some lovely local produce.. Located only 10 min walk to the beaches and town, but like all great seaside ...

Located only 10 min walk to the beaches and town, but like all great seaside towns there is a bit of a hill to descend and climb. Overall a top quality location well worth a visit and stay.

“Just to say we enjoyed the house, thank you - it was comfortable, clean and well equipped, on the whole, with wonderful views.”

We liked the location but it would not work for anyone with mobility problems, as the walk down to beach or town is very steep. The weather was exceptionally hot and the house did get oppressive in 32C, even though we drew curtains during the day etc -to the extent that it was impossible to sleep upstairs. As such heatwaves look likely to happen more often, it would be a good idea to add some black-out blinds and provide a fan. It was strange not to provide any salt and pepper: I have never before stayed in a holiday cottage without them, indeed most also have some oil, vinegar, foil, etc. In the downstairs en suite bathroom, a grab-rail in the shower is really needed, and a shelf for toiletries. The basin taps need some attention - perhaps even replacing. Otherwise the cleaners are doing a great job.

“Westhaven is clean, comfortable and in good location for access to the town.”

It’s set on a private road so very quiet. Whilst not advertised there are towels provided plus a small welcome package with tea, coffee, milk and washing up essentials including a tea towel which was very helpful.

“The location and views from Westhaven are amazing.”

The ample parking was a real bonus too (we managed to get 4 cars on the drive). The kitchen is incredibly well stocked with everything you could need to cook. We all loved the cushioned window alcove upstairs and had several breakfast at the table outside enjoying the view. The property overall is a little bit tired but comfortable for 6 adults. One of the cupboard doors in the kitchen is broken and we had to clean the dishwasher filter as it was so clogged up and stopped cleaning. We found the key safe easy to use.

Well looked-after. In a great location, with sea views and a short, if hilly, walk into town or the seafront. Be warned; the jigsaws provided, for the odd rainy day, are fiendish :)

“Lovely spacious, clean house.”

Kitchen was well equipped but lacking an outdoor bbq. Beautiful views from most windows. Very steep back garden and needs a gate at the top of concrete front steps as dangerous for young children as this is also the main patio area. Whilst the downstairs bedroom and bed is very comfortable with nice white linen and towels, it would useful to have somewhere to put shower gel/shampoo in the en suite shower. Also a mirror above the dressing table. It was a very enjoyable stay and would return but without a young grandchild!

“Westhaven is a beautiful property overlooking the Cobb side of the seafront.”

The house is open plan, perfect for socialising as it is a school reunion with 2 other school friends. Our 2nd year at Westhaven and have re-booked for 2027! Says it all really. Sykes communications are great and ease of lock up and leave and bookings make it our go to.

“Wonderful views with lovely outdoor furniture to take full advantage of, plentiful parking, very comfortable, excellent bathrooms, brilliantly well equipped and relatively handy to the beaches, restaurants and town attractions.”

It was lovely discovering all the quirky alleyways with interesting dining venues. The welcome pack was very useful and certainly appreciated, especially the nibbles. Cant wait for a return visit. Only one suggestion; a mirror in the downstairs bedroom would be a most useful addition as the only mirror is in the ensuite and is too far from an electrical socket.

“Our only comments would be the access steps up to the property where the fencing doesn't quite go to the top of the steps.”

One of our party has poor eyesight and it was a continual worry that she would fall down the steps. Also, another set of keys would have been useful so that when we did not all go out together, we would not have had to use the key safe every time we went in and out.

“Lovely cottage, would stay there again.”

The views are gorgeous (though you do have to look through faux leaded windows to see it!). There was a problem with heating in one of the bedrooms and it would have been helpful to have extra blankets to keep warm until it was fixed (the next day). Outside lighting would also be helpful as couldn't see a thing on arrival. The cottage is tastefully decorated and well equipped. The "famous" mattress in the downstairs bedroom was just fine. Really quiet spot.

“Our feedback is based on the fact that the bed in the master bedroom was extremely uncomfortable.”

Mattress was way too soft and we both suffered from back pain during and after the stay. having said that, we had a brilliant time at the house. It was spacious, well equipped and perfect for a family holiday. We booked the holiday based on the fact that reviews said the bed mattress was going to be changed and this was clearly not the case.

Hello, I was sorry to read your feedback and that the mattresses were not to your liking. However, the mattresses were replaced in the summer for both the double and king size bed - with John Lewis medium tension mattresses. We made the decision to choose a medium tension in the hope that this would be ‘a middle ground’ as equally some people do not like firm mattresses. The open plan living/dining/kitchen area is a great convivial space. Stunning view from the front of the house and large terrace. We always feel fitter upon returning as we walk down for our morning swim and then get the opportunity to get our “Lyme Bay” legs in on the walk back up.

“Beautiful house and garden.”

View of the sea and harbour are wonderful. TV set up is decent for a holiday cottage. Fridge must be in the verge as makes a constant loud hum. Not a big deal for us but needs sorting. Downstairs mattress is absurdly soft and gave me back and hip pain within one night. It is obviously notably soft as another reviewer mentioned it. Property needs a tumble drier and/or a proper rotary washing line at the back. It was infuriating to have a washing machine but one tiny drying rack. Impossible to do any washing, which is a major advantage of self catering versus a hotel. Have not been to another self catering where this was the case. An easy fix, but I see has not been fixed as this was also mentioned in another review. Honestly this made me really cross

“A lovely place to stay, large, well equipped and close to shops, beach and amenities.”

Plenty of room to relax, sit out or eat together. Not straightforward to access (via Holmbush Car Park and not Cobb Road or the post code which takes you up a closed private road!) but great views from the front and very quiet at night.

“We all enjoyed our three generations family holiday in this spacious house with magnificent views over Lyme Bay.”

The property was clean and welcoming with a well equipped kitchen which is such a bonus when self catering. It was the perfect place to relax and take in the blue skies and amazing sunsets. It’s certainly a holiday home we could imagine returning to but have some reservations about the parking area which had a very uneven surface with a number of drops and protruding rocks making it hazardous for tyres and suspension when parking more than one car. The owners might like to know that the loose patio slab at the top of the approach steps although reported to Sykes 9 a.m. on the Monday morning was not repaired during our stay. Westhaven is no doubt in one of the best locations in Lyme Regis.

Beautiful views from all windows. Plus parking for 3 cars. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at New Year as the town had a good ‘buzz.’ One or two suggestions - for us the mattress in the en-suite bedroom was too soft. We felt a couple of side tables in the lounge would be useful and the large settee isn’t ideal. Noise from the nearby building project wasn’t intrusive but then we went out exploring the surrounding stunning scenery.

“We enjoyed our stay and have stayed here before.”

The outside of the property needs some attention. There is a washing machine but only one small clothes airier so very little space to dry the washing. A washing line should be supplied. The lampshade in the twin room is too low and needs changing. We would happily stay here again but cannot believe the £600 price increase for next year. We understand that prices are going up but cannot see how such a large increase can be justified. We have to travel in school holidays and will need to look at alternatives. This is a great shame as we have used Lyme Bay holidays for many years and have stayed at Westhaven for 3 out of the last 4 years. We would have happily booked again had it not been for the excessive price increase.

“We thoroughly enjoyed our 5-day stay in Westhaven and so did our son's family with 2 young children.”

The house itself was immaculate and the view over the pine trees and the bay from the bedrooms and the upstairs landing was fantastic. The kitchen was particularly well provided for (welcome pack plus cleaning materials for sink and dishwasher). We all appreciated being within walking distance of the beaches, the harbour and the shops. We thoroughly enjoyed a fossil-hunting visit with the children to the nearby beach of Charmouth.
