“What can I say?”
Sophisticated, serene and stunning sea views – we loved every second of our stay at No. 13.
From the moment we arrived, we were bowled over. The apartment was spotless, beautifully decorated (total interior designer vibes) and instantly calming - think luxurious yet homely, with that elusive “home from home” feel...if only this were home!
The layout worked perfectly for us as a family, with plenty of space to be together, yet enough room to spread out and enjoy some peace with fabulous break out spaces angled around seating - a handy table and stools in the kitchen, the stools in the window, the comfy couches in a horseshoe. Thoughtfully zoned spaces meant the adults could unwind while the children played nearby. As for the 'Knights of the Round Table' dining experience with the lazy Susan at the centre - a total highlight - we would normally eat out most evenings but it was such fun eating in!
And everything was so easy: a welcome pack of information covered everything from local history to places to eat, while manuals for the appliances were clearly laid out and super helpful.
The welcome goodies were such a treat ... we adored the Dorset tea, devoured the fudge and the biscuits didn’t last long! The apartment was filled with thoughtful touches from the books (love how they were a mix of local authors or set in Lyme Regis or Dorset - Persuasion by Jane Austen was a great nod to the nearby Granny's Teeth), games, even colouring pencils placed near the window (I found myself sketching the view – and I’m not even an artist!).
Being the only apartment on the top floor gave a real sense of penthouse seclusion, privacy and peace – not a sound from neighbours, though judging by the quiet carpark we may not have had anyone beneath us during our stay, and the gated entrance made it feel completely secure. Designated parking - literally by the communal entrance - was another huge bonus, it just takes the stress away (will we/won't we find a place to park, Is it nearby??). It was also wonderfully quiet, tucked back from the road, yet super convenient to pick up the keys from the office literally across the road. The key safe box means it doesn't matter what time you arrive, it's SO easy holidaying here!
Location-wise, we loved the short stroll down to town and the beach each morning – and even the uphill yomp back home felt good after all those ice creams (ok - one complaint - SEAGULLS ha ha - be on guard and opt for tub rather than cone as our 7 year old discovered to her dismay!).
If you want to enjoy everything Lyme Regis has to offer and return to a peaceful, stylish, secure base at the end of the day, you couldn’t ask for better. Excellent value too. Should we return to Dorset (and we will) – there’s only one place we’d want to stay.
Thank you for making our holiday easy, comfortable, luxurious… and full of joy, we honestly all shed a little tear when it was time to leave.
