“We really loved our stay at the Old Dairy; it was an absolutely perfect location to access gorgeous nearby seaside towns.”

The photos do not do the location of this property justice; it is private and surrounded by beautiful views and rolling hills. Our toddler absolutely loved wondering around the garden and the field of cows next door! My only issue was that the WIFI was essentially unusable which meant we couldn’t do any research or planning for our days out whilst in the property. This didn’t matter too much to us as we were on holiday, but would be an issue for anyone wanting to work online or access ...

Safe for the grandchildren to play outside and good position to get to different locations in Dorset. Well equipped cottage. The decor felt a little tired but did not effect our stay We would definitely return.

“The old dairy is a lovely cottage in a fabulous location.”

It had most things we needed, however it was a heatwave week and be aware there is no garden furniture apart from the heavy wooden pub style bench or parasols for shade. Like a few others have said, the internet connection is poor, maybe it’s the trade off for the fabulous rural location. We really enjoyed our stay, especially the dog who was fixated with the hedgehogs at night.

Fire alarms not working, CO2 alarm not present by the wood burner - these are not in accord with regulations.

“What can I say!”

other than it was a beautiful property in a stunning location . It is immaculate with everything you could possibly need. We had two small dogs with us , and it has spoilt us for looking for property’s in the future ! The paddock was an amazing bonus! The old Dairy really is a credit to its owners . Our new granddaughters first holiday … the old dairy made it a holiday to remember for ever!

Whilst pretty clean a more detailed examination did reveal the odd cobwebs and dust, but nothing too bad! Would be pleased to return as all arrangements worked well - thank you.

“It was clean and peaceful and the furnishings very comfortable.”

The only potential if the weather was cold, heating seemed to be reliant on the Wood Burner as there were no instructions as to how the Central System was controlled/turned on. I think it would be prudent to mention somewhere in the property description/directions, that the roads/lanes to the property are very narrow which could have caused us an issue on one occasion. However the value for money was excellent and we will use Sykes again.

“Fab cottage, with comfy beds and everything you need for a comfortable stay.”

It’s situated in a secluded, picturesque location, but is just a short drive from the coast and a 15-minute walk to the local pub. We loved how peaceful it felt while still being close to everything we needed. The cottage itself was clean and well equipped, and had spacious grounds. It’s a great base for exploring the area.

“We loved our stay at The Old Dairy.”

It’s cosy, comfortable, clean and well equipped. It’s in a great location for the beaches and gorgeous countryside. Set in a secure private garden with its own gated drive. Great pub The Five Bells is just up the road, you’ll need to book a table well ahead. Can recommend a trip up to Coney’s Castle, 5 minute drive, for beautiful views. You can see it from the back garden. The lambs in the field were an adorable addition and as for the views, well you’ve got to see them for yourselves. Best place we’ve ever stayed in. Can fully recommend. Thank you to all involved.

“The accommodation was absolutely lovely, beautiful setting and views, very private and great for our dog.”

The cottage was lovely and comfortable and had everything we could’ve possibly wanted. Only slight downside which was on the last evening the heating did not work, nor the morning that we left. The heating controls appeared to still be working as was the thermostat, but none of the radiators came on. We rang the telephone number for Lyme Bay holidays but were unable to speak to anyone to advise on this. We were sent a text with a form to fill-in, however we were in a poor area for reception I could not create a log in / fill out the form there and then and really all I wanted to do was advise someone, not complain. It was long winded and not very user friendly.

“A great property to enjoy a well earned break, lovely setting and peacetul.”

Has everything you could need and garden is ideal for dogs. Local pub serves very good food but booking is advisable. Will return in the future. Only one complaint ...... House keeping needs to look above and below eye level.

“The Old Dairy was even nicer in reality than it looked online.”

Tastefully furnished, cosy and warm, with a well equipped kitchen and a great view of the Dorset hills. It's well situated to explore both coast and countryside. Whitchurch Canonicorum is an exceptionally pretty village with walks heading off in all directions. The enclosed garden was handy for the dog. We had a great stay and would be happy to book the same again. A small non-stick pan would be a useful addition, as would a dustpan and brush for the wood burner area.

“Great stay, amazing views, very well equipped.”

Though could have had a more thorough clean as there were a few cobwebs. However, don’t let this put you off as it was a great place to stay. Over all, we had a lovely family holiday.

“We have stayed in this cottage on multiple occasions when it was managed by another booking company and were happy to award 5 stars for each of our stays.”

This is our first stay since management has been transferred to Lyme Bay Cottages and we were disappointed. We arrived late due to heavy traffic and noticed that there was no welcome pack (not even a little milk) as there always had been previously. There was only one teatowel for a two week stay and no food waste bags for the caddy. The cottage had not been cleaned, there were cobwebs and dust that you draw outlines in with your finger tips. The shower was leaking so badly that only a small amount of water actually came out of the shower head, the rest streaming down the shower pipe. I brought these matters to the attention of the old manager, who I know personally and she alerted the owner, we also contacted Lyme Bay Cottages. The cottage was cleaned the following day and a new shower installed. We stayed for two weeks and under the previous management, there was a mid-stay clean and a change of bedding and towels. This did not happen under Lyme Bay Cottages. We will stay again but have to say that 'little touches do make a difference' and this stay did not impress as previous stays had done.

It had pretty much everything one could require. Easy to find, and friendly locals. Conveniently placed for jaunts out to different places. The overflow from the gutters following the heavy rain, was dealt with amazingly quickly by Lyme Bay.

“Didn’t appreciate the additional fee requested by Sykes when I had already paid ‘the total amount’ on VRBO.”

To then receive an email from Sykes saying I needed to pay more or lose the booking is just poor. Money grabbing where possible. However, the cottage is lovely, beautiful location, lovely garden, lovely fire place, very much enjoyed the short break. Would recommend the place.

“Lovely cottage, very quiet, ideal for a stay away from everything.”

Everything was clean and tidy. Lyme’s fish and chip shop in Lyme Regis was great. I would recommend taking a few essentials like milk(for that first cuppa when you get there) and maybe everything for your first night and breakfast the next morning so that when you arrive you can just sit relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. Logs for the fire if you want some can be bought from the shop in Charmouth. You won’t need them for anything other than effect as the cottage is lovely and warm. Really the only downside was that the beds were too hard for us, otherwise it is the perfect place to stay for the area.

The Old Dairy is a delightful bungalow located in the village of Whitchurch Canonicorum, close to the Dorset Coast. Full of rustic charm, this cottage is located in a peaceful rural setting with delightful countryside views and expansive garden, so is perfect for families and their 4-legged friends looking to enjoy all that this picturesque county has to offer. The cottage has charm and character in abundance, with the living area having a vaulted ceiling exposing the traditional beams and enjoying views over the garden to the countryside beyond. Cosy and inviting, the lounge is the perfect spot to sit back and relax with the stylish wood burner a real feature of this room and a welcomed addition during the colder months. The farmhouse style kitchen and dining area adjoin the lounge and makes this a sociable space for the family to gather together.
