“We had a lovely ten day stay at Rosemarie Annexe this August.”

It is situated in a very peaceful, rural location on the outskirts of Axminster. Being so close to the coast, it was a great base to explore Dorset and East Devon. As the name implies, it is an annexe to the main house where the owners live. The annexe is offset from the main house, and has a separate entrance. The owners were very mindful of our privacy, and the neighbouring properties are too far to be seen or heard. It was good to know that we could call on them if there was any problem - ...

It is situated in a very peaceful, rural location on the outskirts of Axminster. Being so close to the coast, it was a great base to explore Dorset and East Devon. As the name implies, it is an annexe to the main house where the owners live. The annexe is offset from the main house, and has a separate entrance. The owners were very mindful of our privacy, and the neighbouring properties are too far to be seen or heard. It was good to know that we could call on them if there was any problem - but there were none. The annexe is very clean, modern, and equipped with everything you would normally expect (including the washing machine, iron, hairdryer etc). We appreciate the welcome gifts that the owners left for us, they were useful after a long journey! There is a working internet connection (37 Mbps for those who care) and a TV with good signal, which is a bonus in that part of the country. If you don't like driving, the trains and buses are 15 - 20 minutes walk away. We had a very peaceful relaxing stay, and would not hesitate recommending Rosemarie Annexe as a great base for your holiday.

However long guest's journeys are to us, we know ourselves that getting the kettle on or a bit of a biscuit pick me up when you first arrive can be much needed indeed. Sadly being on the outskirts of the town we are still only privileged to part fibre broadband, so I hope it wasn't too slow for your needs. Whether back home or travelling to your next adventure, we do hope your onward journey was trouble free. “Rosemarie Annex was clean very comfortable very well equipped with everything we needed and spacious.”

The Owners live next door but we didn't need to bother them as there were no problems we just met them to say hello. It was central to where we wanted to visit Seaton, Beer, Branscombe, Sidmouth and Lyme Regis. Thank you Dan and Hollie for letting us stay at Rosemarie Annex we would recommend this property to anyone who wanted to visit Devon.

“We found a little gem in Rosemarie annexe!”

Very clean, warm and comfortable. We had a small problem on arrival weekend (totally our fault) and had to try and contact someone for help. The welcome folder said to call Lyme Bay Holidays but after trying to, I'm still waiting over 2 weeks later. Sykes however were extremely helpful and we got sorted. The owner next door also popped in to help and produced useful information to add to the folder. As previously mentioned in reviews a different outside seating area would be nice but patience is a virtue and this is a new rental property. All in all a lovely stay in a very nice area!!

“A great little cottage: the kitchen is supplied with everything you need; the furniture is very comfortable; the decor makes it feel really homely and the welcome box is a nice treat.”

(Not a huge amount of outdoor space if sitting outside is what you're after.) We would definitely stay again.

“The property was comfortable.”

The shower was very good but a rack was needed to hold shower gell etc in shower.The bathroom sink has a cupboard under it and the shelf inside has no proper pegs to hold it just broken toothpick sticks.In the kitchen the cutlery draw only has three screws holding the wooden front on .We have not stayed at a sykes property where there were no spares or tools available. But on the whole a nice property and would stay there again.

Thank you for your feedback. We recently had a new shower cubicle installed, a shower caddy to store guest shower items was sadly an oversight on our part. One has now been ordered. The kitchen drawers have been checked as we were unaware that they were not held on with the correct amount of screws. These have now been rectified. During our joining process to Sykes cottages we were not advised that we needed to provide any spare items or a toolbox. Politely we would rather guests informed us of any issues rather than tackle any tasks themselves during their stay with us. We thank you kindly for choosing to stay with us, and we were pleased to read your review in our guest book. We would of course welcome you back to stay in the future. All our best Property Owner

“The annexe was lovely and clean and the location was perfect for exploring dorset and east devon.”

Lovely quiet area. The only negative for us was no rear area of garden to sit out in the sun after a day out walking . We didn,t find the front seating very inviting due the the flies round the shrubbery.Also privacy may be an issue if the owners were out in their garden.

We appreciate your comments regarding the garden and we are looking at altering the front garden in the future to make this feel more separate and will now provide a citronella candle to deter any flies that wish to disturb visitors. The property is however, surrounded by open farmland with sheep currently in the field at the immediate rear of the property. We are also looking to provide further seating on the small rear patio to make this area feel more usable to guests. Rosemarie Annexe is a charming holiday home situated on the outskirts of the market town of Axminster, Devon and within easy reach of Lyme Regis and the Jurassic coast.This delightful retreat, with countryside views and convenient parking, is perfect for small families or friends wanting to have a wonderful base to explore the popular fossil hunting beaches of the Jurassic coast, as well as accessing the many coastal and rural footpaths this area has to offer, whilst providing all you could need to enjoy a self-catering stay. Step inside to discover the well-equipped kitchen, leading to a spacious living/dining room, where you can unwind on the plush seating, enjoy your favourite shows on the Smart TV or appreciate your home cooked meals around the dining table that comfortably seats three.
