“We really did enjoy this beautiful cottage and our visit to Beer in Devon.”

Perfect for our dogs who had access to a very pretty and secure garden. The facilities all good. We thought parking would be a problem but again very easy, multi-choice and well-laid out instructions. We had no issues whatsoever - a great cottage to rent, in the heart of a traditional quiet pretty town. There's so much to do in Beer, a range of interesting shops, kind people, good pubs and restaurants. We never go back to a place once visited but due to the abnormal temperatures for June ...

We never go back to a place once visited but due to the abnormal temperatures for June ("2026 heatwave") we weren't able to take the dogs too far for walks and beach so we will return! Wouldn't hesitate recommending this cottage and the town (& people) of Beer! 10/10

“This has been without doubt the best property we have stayed in in Beer in all the years we have been coming here.”

We have been coming here for seven years now and nothing compares to hope cottage it’s immaculate all over beautiful garden spotlessly clean excellent facilities best equipped place we have ever stayed in the only two recommendations I have for staying here in the future is there’s no grab rail in the shower and my dad is quite unsteady on his feet and he did struggle getting in and out of the shower but A grab would make all the difference and they could do with some wire mesh on the roof above the room with the two single beds to stop the seagulls landing on the roof because they make a lot of noise with a lot of banging on the roof early in the morning but I still give this place a 10 out of 10 it’s a beautiful cottage and I hope the owners maintain this for many years to come

“Hope Cottage is perfect both inside and out.”

It certainly has a feeling of luxury as the owners have ensured they have thought of everything in order for guests to have a wonderful holiday. Fabulous welcome pack too. Beautiful cottage garden with sunny aspect. Ideal base with plenty of options to eat out. We were in a Vauxhall Corsa which fitted into the cottage parking space without a problem. Beer is a friendly,welcoming village and Hope Cottage is the place to stay! Thanking all concerned.

“A fabulous cottage!”

On arrival we found the best welcome pack we have ever recieved. Everything we could need was there, a very well equiped kitchen and excellent coffee/tea making facilities. We visited the local pubs in the village (all in easy walking distance) we throughly enjoyed the friendly welcome amd food/drinks on offer. We wil certainly return!

“The property was lovely, perfect location and obviously very well loved and maintained.”

The kitchen was very well equipped which enabled us to cook a couple of meals at the cottage. Our only problem, was the WiFi, all we got was a selection of payments for WiFi use, which we weren't prepared to pay for, which in turn meant that we were unable to watch the catch up channels etc on the TV. We tried calling for help 3 times but couldn't get an answer or a chance to leave a message, we gave up in the end and felt quite disappointed at this. Apart from that we had a lovely week away and were impressed with the car parking arrangements.

“What a lovely, cosy cottage.”

Lots of personal touches that added to the charming character. The kitchen was superbly equipped and there was a very generous welcome pack, in addition to a selection of teas, coffees, condiments, oils and more; there were even some festive decorations and a Christmas tree in the living/dining room which was an unexpected surprise. It was clear that the owners want guests to have a special stay and go the extra mile to ensure this. Everything was much appreciated - thank you and best wishes.

“Lovely cottage in a fantastic location, photos didn't do it justice.”

The only thing I would say is that the bathroom is ready for an upgrade, the toilet in particular really needs replacing, looks quite grim inside and the seat is very stained. The owners have made the cottage very homely and had everything and more than we needed. Gate lock needs attention too. Thanks for a fantastic stay

“Absolutely lovely cottage!”

Stunning garden, very clean & ideally located. Everything you could need, although as a result, no cupboard space for food in kitchen at all. Kitchen hot water tap very hot & could do with a much lighter/thinner duvet in main bedroom during the summer. My only real grip though is the £30 charge to have anything you've forgotten, posted is ridiculous. Otherwise, a perfect holiday home.

“In all weathers we find that Hope Cottage is the perfect cottage for a blissful holiday.”

.It is extremely comfortable and very well equipped..The pretty garden and outside space is a wonderful bonus. Very comfortable and clean. Welcome bag a lovely treat and lots of information available. I would suggest a Smart tv as those with accounts for Netflix etc could access for those rainy days, especially during the winter months. I was disappointed there wasn’t an option to order logs for my arrival, but this is a small request during winter months when you don’t want to drive out to find some. All in all a lovely peaceful stay during December when the rest of the world is going crazy Christmas shopping!

“The front gate does not always shut properly - you have to lift it up a bit.”

Everything you need is there. Downside with the arch at the gate I am 5’9 and kept catching my head, gate doesn’t lock properly, had to watch the dog on his own in the garden.

“Lovely cottage, comfy bed, very clean.”

Front door lock drove me mad as the lock needs replacing and it was always difficult to insert the key from outside as the slim key rarely lined up with the lock. Also, the front gate latch needs re-fixing as it does not latch easily unless you lift the gate whilst closing. With a dog that's crucial!

“This is an ideal cottage for exploring this area.”

The village itself has everything you could need although the welcome pack was very good for getting us started. The dogs loved it and the enclosed front garden was safe and interesting enough for them. Good places to eat in the village and a short walk down to the beach. The cottage had everything we needed and was very comfortable. Our car (Renault Scenic) fitted the parking space perfectly although the car park is just across the road anyway. Overall a really lovely place to stay.

“Main concerns were the rules your company set for staying in the property.”

You seem to have kept to all the covid rules regarding bedding, bins, and general cleanliness even though covid had been relaxed. When I go on holiday like most people I want to get away from changing the beds , doing housework and putting the bins out, your rules we very strict as in saying we would be charged for not doing so , this is why I would not recommend your company , it’s such a shame as we enjoyed the property very much. BEER

Seaton 1.5 miles; Lyme Regis 9 miles; Sidmouth 9.5 miles; Exeter 25 miles.

Beer is a small picturesque fishing village on the south Devon coast near Seaton. The shingle beach is very sheltered, backed by limestone cliffs and was once fertile smuggling territory, plus contraband was hidden in nearby caves, which are now a popular tourist attraction. Beer is situated on the stretch of Devon coastline, known as the Jurassic Coast, a designated World Heritage Site, and the village offers sloping streets lined with picturesque stone houses and cottages built on many different levels of the steep valley sides. There are a good range of shops, friendly cafes, restaurants and pubs in Beer. Beer is a unique Devon fishing village and a great place to stay.
