“We’ve just returned from a fabulous stay at 5B Bridge Street and honestly couldn’t have asked for more.”
We stayed as two families (4 adults and 2 children) and were really pleasantly surprised by how spacious the property was — much bigger than we expected from the listing/photos. It is also dog friendly at no extra charge (for friendly, well-behaved dogs) which helped us out when our dog sitter let us down last minute. This was a real benefit for us as a lot of properties will charge extra to have dogs stay.

The location is absolutely spot on, literally a stone’s throw from the seafront, which made everything so easy with kids. There’s also a handy little convenience shop nearby for anything you inevitably forget, and a Tesco Express just a short walk up the hill for bigger bits.
The house itself was spotless when we arrived, with towels provided for everyone, which was a nice touch. The layout worked brilliantly for us: two really spacious double bedrooms with loads of storage, plus a single room with a pull-out mattress that easily worked as a twin. Having two large bathrooms was also a massive bonus with two families sharing.
Although there’s no outdoor space, we actually found this encouraged us to make the most of Lyme Regis — we ended up having BBQs on the beach most evenings, which turned into one of our favourite parts of the trip.
The kitchen was really well equipped with plenty of crockery, utensils and storage, plus a dishwasher and washer/dryer, which came in very handy after sandy beach days! We also appreciated the thoughtful essentials left by the holiday let — bin bags, dishwasher tablets, washing-up supplies etc. Perfect for shorter stays, though for longer trips or bigger groups you’ll probably want to bring extra supplies and washing pods.
A couple of very minor things worth mentioning: we were incredibly lucky with the weather, but the house did get very warm at night (we stayed in May) and we really struggled to cool the bedrooms down despite open windows, so a few fans or air con would make a huge difference. We also couldn’t find an iron — not essential, but useful to have (we also might not have looked hard enough so apologies if there is one!). There is also only one set of keys, which could prove to be a little tricky if staying as a larger group doing different things, especially as phone signal in Lyme Regis isn’t great!
That said, we are aware that this a relatively new let so none of this took away from what was a genuinely brilliant stay. We can imagine the property being incredibly cosy in winter too with the log burner and electric fire.
We would absolutely recommend 5B Bridge Street to anyone wanting to stay right in the heart of Lyme Regis, and we’d definitely return ourselves. Thank you so much for hosting us, Jo — your property is lovely!
