    “Saybrook Cottage is a cosy cottage in a convenient location.”

    It’s small, but every care has been taken to utilise space. The top bedroom was very hot and the lack of a door meant that sound from the TV downstairs was loud. The front bedroom was very light as the curtains are thin. The cottage was well equipped, clean and we enjoyed the garden. The food in the nearby pub was excellent. A great short stay.

    Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. We are really pleased that you enjoyed your short break in Saybrook Cottage and that you made good use of all that Charmouth and the local area has to offer. We have worked hard to think of everything that our guests might need during their holiday and so your feedback is important to us. All of our curtains are handmade from heavy duty cotton and fully lined, but we can see that on a sunny morning the south facing front bedroom could be light. In addition, we have found that by opening the Velux windows in the top room we can keep the whole cottage nice and cool even in this very warm weather. We designed the cottage with an open plan top storey to showcase the two oak staircases. The two main bedrooms do, of course, have doors. Saybrook Cottage is an attractive period terrace located in the centre of Charmouth, thoughtfully updated by its current owners to create a stylish and well-presented holiday home. Finished to a high standard throughout, the cottage blends original features with contemporary touches, with colourful artwork adding character and a welcoming feel. Step through the entrance door into the open plan living space where parquet flooring and a striking hand-built oak staircase immediately draw the eye, creating a real focal point and adding character to the cottage. The sitting area offers a beautifully arranged space to relax, complete with a sofa and a gas flame-effect stove, while the dining area provides an appealing setting for shared meals. To the rear of the cottage, the recently fitted galley kitchen is well equipped, including a dishwasher, and leads through to a handy utility space with a washing machine and fridge/freezer. A cloakroom on this level adds convenience. The first floor hosts two bedrooms. The principal bedroom features a king-size bed and a feature fireplace, while the second is a compact double. The bathroom is particularly spacious and includes a freestanding bath, a large walk-in shower, basin, WC and heated towel rail, all finished in a contemporary style. On the second floor, an open-plan bedroom set beneath the eaves includes a single bed and a small desk, offering a useful spot for reading, working or planning the day ahead. Outside, the pretty, cottage-style garden to the rear is an ideal spot for spending time outdoors, with a patio complete with a picnic bench and BBQ base, as well as steps leading up to a lawn where views across the surrounding countryside can be enjoyed. The property is also pet-friendly, welcoming one well-behaved dog. While there is no designated parking, roadside spaces are generally available nearby. With village shops, a bakery, places to eat and two popular pubs all within easy reach, the cottage is well situated to enjoy Charmouth. The beach is close by, along with the Heritage Coast Centre, known for fossil hunting, and access to the South West Coast Path. For a change of scenery, Lyme Regis offers its well-known Cobb harbour alongside a range of independent shops and eateries.
