“It’s our second stay at East Cliff, and again we have had a wonderful and relaxing week.”

The views from the cottage windows and the garden are spectacular, the location is private but with easy access to town. The accommodation is well equipped and comfortable, and everything works as it should. We loved the new seating in the garden, and the garden itself is looking great. We were a bit disappointed that the house is looking a bit unloved, with dust and cobwebs, dirty marks on walls and furniture (some we cleaned ourselves so not big jobs to sort). Our car is a Honda Jazz and ...

“We have stayed at 4, East Cliff many times and always enjoy our stay.”

We absolutely love the garden and appreciate the car parking space. In general the house needs refurbishing. Some of the windows do not open properly, the seating in the garden is old, rickety and not very comfortable (the seat cushions need to be replaced). I have made similar comments before but not much has been changed. As it is quite an expensive holiday week, I would hope the company would pay heed please.

“We really enjoyed our recentshort stay at 4 East Cliff.”

We first stayed there about 15 years ago and found the cottage to be as beautiful as we remembered. The beautiful aspects from the upstairs lounge, really make the place and the garden, overlooking the sea is divine! Everything was as described. A very well appointed cottage, really centrally located but away from the hustle and bustle. Only one very small “gripe”, the bedroom curtains are so light that it became impossible to sleep past 6am as it was so bright. I think maybe a black out blind underneath might help. Other than that, our stay was perfect.

“This is a lovely property with views exactly as described.”

We were very pleased with it, esp the garden. However our stay was spoilt by noisy neighbours in the ajoining holiday let. This was particulary the case on the friday and saturday night when it was impossible to sleep in the downstairs bedroom. The guest information folder also requires updating on two points: its difficult of not impossible to buy fresh groceries in Lyme Regis, as all food shops except a v limited comvenience store have closed. As has the last remaining Boots phamacy. This presented difficulties as both myself and guest have dietary requirements and ongoing health conditions. We book self catering for this reason but found we were still obliged to eat out at most meals bc of this. Nearest supermarket of any size is in Bridport. Secondly, some of the restauarants toward to Cobb end of town are also of extremely dubious quality. We had a bout of mild food poisoning from one establisment from which we are still recovering now. We noted this briefly in the folder itself to inform (warn) future holiday makers, and wrote a tripadvisor review accordingly, but as i say a review of the guest info in relation to the town itself is due.

“We had a lovely stay at East Cliff, the location was amazing, we left the car in the garage all week (which is probably for the beast as it was not easy getting it in!”

). The view for the lounge and garden are fabulous, there was plenty of space for the four of us and there was everything we needed there. The property lost a star from us for a few (very fixable) reasons, most notably, three bed in the master/downstairs bedroom was not that comfy, and pillows and duvet we're also not great and both bedrooms didn't have any form of blackout curtain/blind. Also there were only 6 plates in the house, and not loads of everything else (only one chopping/bread board), so we were needing to put the dishwasher on at least once per day when it was still half empty. The bath mat was mouldy and generally cleanliness was OK. Overall though, it was a lovely week, we'd definitely consider staying here again.

“This is an amazing cottage with breath taking sea views.”

The welcoming pack was lovely and thoughtful. The cottage was clean and tidy when we arrived and we were able to reverse our Ford Mondeo estate into the garage with just some of the front poking out, so couldn't close the door , but it didn't block anyone else. The property is centrally located and just a 5 minute walk to the beach. It was lovely to sit out in the terraced garden and watch the sea. We would definitely stay again.

“Lovely cottage with a beautiful garden and views.”

The owner is obviously gradually improving things as we have stayed a few times now and notice the differences. The garden furniture is getting a bit old and ‘rickety’ and the cushions for it need replacing. We loved our time and have already booked to come back for our fifth (I think) visit next year!

The cottage was perfect in a great location overlooking the sea and within easy walking distance to Lyme Regis town and beach. The cottage was very clean and comfortable, beautifully decorated and furnished. We had a lovely time there and the garden spread towards the sea. We will not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

“We really enjoyed our stay.”

Good weather was a bonus. The property is all about the location and beautiful views. Extra plates for food like pasta etc would be good. Also hand towels for the kitchen/toilet. Whilst the property is adequately equipped, it would benefit from a proper fridge/freezer and a larger TV. (We also found that the basin in the upstairs bathroom did not readily drain. As we were only two we used only the downstairs basin, but not ideal for a family)

The garden wasn’t quite so well maintained or pretty this year but then the weather hasn’t really been kind to gardeners. This was our last hoorah in Lyme Regis as it is just getting too far and too expensive for us. We have lovely memories to keep ❤️

The parking is an issue but you can park with the Garage open and it works fine. Our only issue was the communication with Sykes. I asked a few questions before we got there but got an acknowledgment but no response. Pretty poor really. Nice house though

I think the listing on the website could make more clear the parking situation- it is quite tricky with anything other than a small car, & although this would not put me off coming again I was not aware of it when booking.

“We had a magical time at 4 East Cliff.”

The cottage was lovely, clean and bright. The garden was a dream, and the views were just spectacular. The cottage is easy walking into the village and although we rented a car for our trip we only used it to get to Lyme Regis and back to London again. It was easy to find charming and scenic running routes each day, with my favorite being the path to Uplyme along the River Lim - it was storybook scenery and I fully expected Peter Rabbit himself to make an appearance. We can't wait to come back next year! With love from New York. xxx

Just a few points concerning facilities: 1. Needs bath mat, the one (in cleaner's cupboard!) is not fit for purpose 2. Grab rails on bath or wall needed for safety 3. Oven gloves needed for safety.in kitchen 4. Fridge freezer compartment needs regularly defrosting (can't close compartment door due to ice build up)

“The key was not in the security box.”

A request for assistance was answered quickly and a spare set of keys provided. However the security box, although empty was set at the pre assigned code which could be noted by someone seeking unauthorised entry. The question arises, if the keys are missing, and in addition the code is visible, is the security of the property compromised for the ownwe and the renting client. It is not clear from the promotion details that the rented property garden is not directly behind the property itself, but behind the neighbouring property. Whilst this did not cause a problem, to have a neighbour using a garden directly behind the rented property was a surprise. Having said that, the garden itself was a 5* feature of the property, as was the 1st floor lounge, both with superb views, making the holiday experience wery good.

“This is a great cottage with a most attractive garden and view of the sea.”

It is well placed for walking in to Lyme and the garage space (though a tight squeeze) is very useful. This was our third holiday here. We had beautiful weather so we’re in the garden or on the front nearly all the time. I would agree that some aspects of the accommodation are tired looking.The garden chairs need replacing for instance. I appreciate that some updates have been carried out and we find the beds very comfortable.

“A beautiful place to relax and the view from the garden is stunning.”

Well kept, well presented, with every convenience supplied. Beds were comfortable. The only problem we had was that the shower leaked very badly right down into the downstairs toilet! Even though a plumber came out super-fast, the issue was not resolved and I was concerned about the subsequent guests having their holiday marred by such a problem! All in all, I would go back there in a heartbeat. Thank you.

“4 East cliff is fantastic.”

Our second visit was as good as first. Obviously the views are stunning which is worth it in itself. The place was immaculate and comfy. Its so good to arrive and find milk in the fridge and tea and coffee provided. The garden is a lovely seaside garden and worth a stroll even when too cold to sit. Quiet and yet 5 mind from town.

“Lovely cottage but furniture needs improving.”

It looks so quaint and lovely online but doesn't live up to the photos. The mattresses are worn and slope to the middle; the sofa is sagging and offers no support or comfort. The kitchen is well stocked but a second tea towel would have been nice for a week's stay! This would be a top listing if some upgrades were made.

Cottage is a real home from home just a short walk into Lyme and to the beach. The garden was a delight with the most amazing sea views, which are also enjoyed from the living room. We holidayed as a couple but plenty of room for five. Bed was very comfortable and the bathroom and shower brand new. Bonus of having parking too. We can't wait to return. Even better if ...some champagne flutes and more than just freeview on TV. Only tiny issues as this accomadation exceeds all expectations. Thank you.

We have a BMW X1, so not overly large. In the end we parked in the car park up the hill. This, obviously added to the holiday cost. One thing I would point out is that I think you should have a hand rail by the shower for safety purposes. Apart from these points the cottage and view are stunning. Extremely clean, welcome pack a nice surprise. The property didn't really feel like a holiday home, more a home from home.

The views across the sea and coast line are beautiful. It’s just a few minutes walk into town and to the beach meaning we didn’t need to use the car which was a real bonus. The kitchen was clean and equipped well for a week’s holiday. The beds were comfortable. The shower powerful. The lounge comfy (with that wonderful view). The only thing missing was pegs for the washing line (there’s some there now). Lyme Regis is a lovely little town, incredibly friendly! The Ammonite pavement at Monmouth beach is stunning and local icecreams aplenty - we had a lovely week.
