Yes, the stairs are steep but perfectly doable. The two bedrooms upstairs are very quaint, the bedding is immaculate and the storage space very adequate. A mirror in both bedrooms and not just one is, I think, indispensable.

The kitchen is nicely laid out and pretty. There are plenty of appliances but we felt that it lacks a little in glasses ( beer in a water glass), different sizes of cups (an expresso in a mug) , serving bowls and dishes and cutlery.
The living room/dining area is very quaint but overly furnished with a much too big upholstered bench or footrest being used as a coffee table. No room to circulate and impossible to lay down your glasses. We rearranged everything and put the said table in the bay window and used a cane chest as the coffee table. Much better.
Things go downhill when you go out the back door. It all looks a bit neglected. The ‘outdoor utility room’ is a door you open and discover a cupboard with an overflowing freezer (for which Lyme Bay Cottages offered immediately to send someone out to defrost it) and a washing machine perched on top for which there are no instructions. It’s not a walk in cupboard, just a cupboard which is pretty dirty.
The top of the garden seems a little ignored as when we arrived all the cushions had been left out in the pouring rain. We couldn’t sit out in the evening as all the garden lights were out of order and seemingly had been disconnected ‘for security reasons’.
The staff in the Lyme Bay Holidays office were pleasant and very accommodating as we did have a couple of problems during our stay most of which they rapidly took care of.
Despite all that, we felt totally at home and had a lovely week in Holly Cottage.
