Overall, we were really impressed, but there are a few areas where improvements could be made. The main issue was the cleaning. I removed a large amount myself, which wasn’t very pleasant. There were also cobwebs above the curtains in the bedrooms, and some of the light fittings were extremely dusty.
The top rack of the dishwasher was also broken. On our first evening it came away in my hands while I was unloading it, causing a glass to fall and smash. Thankfully only one glass broke, but it was an inconvenience to clear up. I’ve reported it, but it should ideally have been picked up by either previous guests or the changeover team before our arrival.
During our stay, my son, who is 6ft 3in, accidentally hit his head on the low light fitting at the top of the stairs, which caused one of the glass shades to break. We reported it immediately, and maintenance arrived within an hour to remove the damaged shade. We were really impressed by how quickly and professionally this was dealt with.
The garden is a really nice space and has a lot of potential, but it would benefit from a bit more comfort and usability. A couple of loungers to sit on, along with a parasol on the gravel end of the garden, would be a really nice addition and would make it much more enjoyable for relaxing outside.
Despite these minor issues, this is a lovely property in an excellent location. The only thing worth noting for future guests is that the walk back from the town involves quite a steep hill, so it’s something to bear in mind if anyone in your group has mobility issues. Other than that, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it and would happily stay here again.
