“We have stayed at Waverley 6 times now, but after a break of a couple of years from Lyme we missed the town and the cottage so had to return.”

The cottage location is great and we love the proximity to the Mill, the pedestrian only access and all that goes with it. About three or 4 years ago the cottage had a makeover when the new owners came in, new breakfast island, sofa etc. Just a couple of little observations: We think the sofa is now uncomfortable; it has probably had at least 3 years of heavy use, so the bounciness has gone and probably needs replacing. The other minor observation is the blinds, they are probably ok for a ...

The cottage location is great and we love the proximity to the Mill, the pedestrian only access and all that goes with it. More robust blinds wouldn’t go amiss. Other than that we love the cottage and wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Lyme, but hope these comments help.

“A lovely property, well equipped and in a great location.”

“The most lovely cottage we’ve ever stayed in- beautifully decorated and immaculately clean.”

Only downside was the hill up to the property was steep beyond belief! We took a suitcase on wheels as recommended but even that was a struggle. And then the hill to the car park was equally steep! Our knees were worn out by the end of our stay

“Loved the cottage.”

Perfectly situated for the town. The property was clean and was just right for 2 couples. The welcome pack was unexpected but a lovely touch. We stayed in February and therefore probably spent more time inside than most; however managed coastal walks most days. Would recommend UpLyme walk, route to Charmouth, Colmar Hill and the Holloways and Golden Cap. Thanks for a super week’s break. (Please be aware hot tap in kitchen is broken: can be used but fiddly, radiator cover in lounge damaged. Some blinds faulty)This did not spoil our stay, not a criticism just for owner to be aware)

“The cottage has a lovely atmosphere.”

It’s very well placed in the town and has everything we needed. We stayed with our dog and there were bowls and treats for him. You can’t park nearby so if you have a mobility problem, this isn’t the one for you. I would definitely go again

“One of the best holiday cottages I have stayed in over the years, very comfortable, clean and everything you would need.”

We had a lovely stay at Waverley and much needed break away. The outside space is great and very well thought out and made our stay even more enjoyable as we were lucky with the weather. The property is in a great quiet location, not far from everything in this lovely town with lots to see and do. I cannot comment on parking as we came by train and bus.

“A lovely homely peaceful house, comfortable, warm and well equipped!”

Great location for the town shops pubs and beach! Definitely recommend it! The parking permit works well but you need to be fit to pull the baggage trolley up the hill! Loved the generous local produce goodie hamper! The only additional kitchen equipment I would recommend is salt and pepper ( I forgot mine) and some bigger ice cube moulds. The little dinosaur moulds melted too quickly in my g and t!! Not too important but thought I’d mention it! Thanks for a lovely stay!

“One of the best properties we have stayed in at Lyme over the years of visiting, the property was spacious, cozy and warm and had most things needed.”

My only negative if I had to give any would be the cleanliness off the decking, this has not been swept for sometime and the last occupants had missed cleaning up after a dog. We sorted this ourselves but would have been nice if the cleaning team had just checked it before our arrival.

Cottage very homely & everything we needed. I was able to cook as everything was supplied that I needed. The only negative is the cushions for the outside seating needs a new home from under the stairs when you want to sit around the table the are in the way. Thank you so much for the welcome pack that was a lovely touch. Other than that it’s a perfect place to stay so close to town & amenities. We would definitely book here again. Thank you

“The property was beautiful.”

The only issues with it were the difficulty on arrival and departure, having to park temporarily a little distance away and climb a steep slope; and the low ceilings upstairs. However both of these issues were clearly highlighted. We also had a problem that, on arrival, we found that the beds were unmade with dirty linen left on the floor. But this was quickly and efficiently resolved. The standard of the house is excellent, the outside has been set up brilliantly and the location is excellent.

“We had a fabulous stay at the Waverley.”

It has everything you could ever want in holiday accommodation, stylishly furnished, clean, comfy beds and a fantastic garden area with a beautiful view! Our two children 9 an 6 loved it especially the garden space! 10 minute walk to the beach with all the shops and cafes nearby we could not have asked for anything more. Thank you for the lovely welcome pack too. We would not hesitate to recommend and hope to stay at the lovely Waverley again one day

“This was our 5th consecutive stay and the first under the new ownership.”

The new decoration was very nice, but could be very dark on a dull day. The outside space is really lovely, the increased decking and addition of the planters has made a lovely garden and a much more useable space, a big improvement. The only negative we had was that we felt the furniture is very overcrowded. There were only 2 of us, 4 people would have struggled with the lack of downstairs space. It is always a pleasure to stay at Waverley and we have had a lovely holiday.

“The written description of this property is very accurate apart from some very important omissions.”

It is beautifully presented with a lovely garden/patio. It is well equipped and maintained with everything you could want. There was also a very nice welcome bag of lovely goodies. However, we would not book again for the following reasons: The description does not let you know that the car park is down and then up very steep inclines. You can't unload outside the property so everything has to be dragged, down hill from the car park, then uphill to the property by way of a trolley. We are both fit over 65s but found this very challenging. There were 2 of us with luggage, the dog with dog bed etc and a couple of bags of essential food as its self catering. The other issue was the sloping ceilings in both bedrooms. We slept in the double and as the shortest at 5 ft 3 I got the side of the bed with the slope (spandrel.) I either banged my head or had to crick my neck over to walk around the bed. So, to conclude, the written description is accurate other than the omissions of the 2 above issues I've mentioned. We enjoyed our holiday in Lyme Regis but this left a rather flat note.

It is because Waverley is located on a peaceful, pedestrian lane dating back to Saxon times that makes it so appealing to many of our guests. We provide a trolley for guests to use and also a parking permit for the car park. The sloping ceilings in the upstairs bedrooms are a feature of a cottage property and we have updated our listing to make this clear to future guests.
