Lyme Bay Holidays are impossible to get in touch with now they've been taken over by Sykes (I will use Toad Hall ...

As the Owner I’m sorry you found some things not to your liking and I will be bringing these issues up with Lyme Bay/Sykes as of this week. WiFi is a constant problem in the building and we have made extensive efforts to improve it. Sometimes it drops out for no good reason. I appreciate how essential it is nowadays and we are trying to get this situation right. Door bell situation is on the agenda for the AGM in October so hopefully this will be resolved soon after. I can request an extra key is included in the key box. as for the cleanliness I shall be addressing this with Housekeeping as of tomorrow. I’m pleased you found the.parking space sufficient, It is a valuable asset. As for access to the Garden we can do nothing about that as it’s not owned by us. I will also bring up the fact that Lyme Bay are impossible to get hold of. Thank you for letting us know and I hope these issues didn’t impact your stay too much. Property Owner

“The apartment was fabulous and had everything we needed.”

Really generous living space & bedrooms and en-suite was a bonus. Welcome pack was exceptional and best we’ve ever had. Only slight issue was Wi-Fi not very strong ….couldn’t stream movies. But other than that place was exceptional.

“A lovely position apartment, very convenient to walk to all attractions, views outstanding.”

Well equipped with homely feel, easily accommodated 4 adults. Small points to mention, coat hooks to hang wet coats would have been helpful, more mirrors in family bedroom, only 1 dressing table mirror and a full length mirror somewhere would be appreciated. Would stay again though, overall lovely stay.

“We loved this apartment, it felt very spacious and light, and the view is just lovely, especially for spending a rainy day indoors - you still know that you're on holiday when you can sit on a sofa gazing out to sea!”

We also enjoyed how warm and cosy it was, our February holiday was chilly out so it was great to get back in again to this warmth each day. We self-catered most nights and found the kitchen was really well equipped. A perfect location, equidistant to both the Cobb end of town and the other end with shops, museums and cafes. It was also great to have a parking space and not have to walk up the hill to the carpark! We would definitely recommend the Portland Suite and may well return. Only slight issue was with the wifi, but this was resolved when we mentioned it.

Our only negative was we struggled a little getting into the key safe because we suffer a little with arthritis and we found it a little stiff and fiddly, having said that we would definitely go back

“The rug in the living area had a tendency to crease up which could potentially be a trip hazard.”

We had to straighten it out several times. The toothbrush/shaver charge point in the en-suite didn’t work. The shelf in the bottom of the fridge door was broken at one end. A lot of the wardrobe space was taken up by storage bags which left no space for stowing suitcases. During our stay someone put up 3 notices reminding people to be quiet when using the common spaces and that children under 10 were not allowed. We weren’t aware of any excessive noise/ children during our stay and found the notes to be a little disconcerting.

“The Portland Suite is a superb property.”

It is well equipped and comfortable with excellent decor it is a lovely light airy property with wonderful sea views. The location is excellent close to all amenities and just a short stroll down through the park to the Beach and Cobb. We shall definitely be booking again.

Having visited Lyme on many occasions but a first visit to Portland suite We found in general the facilities to be of a very good standard and well equipped One addition we would recommend would be a hard rail from the kitchen to the lounge area steps for the elderly who have walking for issues are a problem something to hold onto would be a help Tv and Wi-Fi access/sky don’t work needs addressing Would recommend and we would use again our selves

“Excellent property, spacious, comfortable, a short walk from the high street and with a view to die for, regardless of the weather!”

The property had all the essentials needed. The parking space was snug for a big car, but workable. The only slight negative was the limited TV channels available as we stayed in every evening. A sky box is provided but it is not connected to broadband so you can only get certain channels (the guest information provides a password to access movies etc, but it doesn't work without a broadband connection), and you cant connect to your own accounts on other services such as prime/Netflix etc either. We ended up buying some DVDs in one of the charity shops as there was a DVD player. All in all, a lovely stay and we will definitely be back.

“What a beautiful place, the apartment was so comfortable, clean and airy.”

Loved that it was so close to the town and we could walk down whenever we wanted. Although the weather wasn’t great during our stay, the apartment was comfortable to stay in if we wanted to. There were games, puzzles and dvds. We loved sitting by the window and looking out at the ocean. Would definitely recommend and would stay there again. We also had an issue with the boiler, I phoned the number given and someone was there within an hour and fixed it straight away. Thank you for providing such a lovely place.

We solved this by going to see friends in Bridport and using their internet. You need to put details of the internet key in the info folder (your office did try to find this but sent the wrong ones - I suspect there are some old routers kicking about). The actual password is correct but this isn't what's required for laptop access.

“We have been visiting The Portland Suite for a number of years now and St Michaels house for 6 years I believe.”

The decoration is a really good standard with lovely local art on the walls and the new carpets throughout are a welcome new addition. Unfortunately despite the wardrobe space being good, there continues to be very limited hangers (you have to bring your own). Drawer space is also very limited in the bedrooms, nowhere for trousers / shorts / jumpers and we end up having piles on the floors. In my opinion 10.5 tog duvets in the summer should be swapped for 4.5 or 7.5 tog, we end up every year taking the duvets out and using only the covers with a blanket for colder mornings ( again that we bring from home). The seating furniture in the living room has seen better days now, particularly the cream sofa bed and is uncomfortable to sit on for a period of time, but it was nice to have all the extra decorations and cushions back and the lamps in the living areas. The best thing is the location and easy parking, we are really close to the main shopping and eateries and short walk to the beach as long as you are fit enough to deal with the steep hills and steps. Given the large price rise for 2023, unfortunately this will probably be our last year at St Michaels House. :(
