    “The accommodation is nice, excellent position in town.”

    However, listed as sleeping 4, you can only seat 2 normally sized humans on the sofa. If, as in our case, the 3rd person has to sit on either the floor or a dining room chair to watch television with the group. There are TVs in the bedrooms. There are no appliance instructions in the property, and you need a degree in computer science to work the oven. We downloaded the instructions, but even with those it was temperamental. It took 2 hours to cook oven chips at allegedly 200°C. Cooking ...

It took 2 hours to cook oven chips at allegedly 200°C. Cooking anything on the hob set the smoke detector off; you didn’t need to burn anything. There is a window above the hob, but it is too high to reach to open. If you open the window in the kitchen/lounge prior to cooking, the smoke detector doesn’t go off, but in February that was a bit chilly. It’s a lovely quiet apartment for 2 people, but too small for anymore. If you don’t want to cook, it’s ideally situated for town and eateries.

As a historic period property right in the heart of town, Drake’s Hideaway is compact by nature, which we aim to reflect clearly in both our listing and our very competitive pricing. While it is advertised as sleeping four, we understand your comments regarding the living area seating and appreciate how this may have impacted your stay. We have received some similar feedback and are currently exploring alternative sofa options and possible layout changes. Regarding the appliances, the instruction manuals should have been located in the small storage cupboard to the left of the kitchen. We recognise this could have been made clearer and will ensure this is better highlighted going forward. While we haven’t previously received negative feedback on the appliances, we appreciate you sharing your experience and will review the points raised, including ventilation guidance when cooking. Drake’s Hideaway is particularly popular with guests looking for a quiet, characterful base in a prime location, offering excellent value for money when considering the central setting, period charm, and proximity to Lyme Regis’ many eateries and attractions. Drake's Hideaway is a charming first floor apartment tucked away on a quiet pedestrian walkway in the heart of Lyme Regis, Dorset. Situated close to the seafront and family friendly beaches, this delightful retreat is perfect for families or friends, accommodating up to four guests and their well-behaved pet. As you enter the property, you will be greeted by a spacious open-plan area, housing a well-equipped kitchen, perfect for preparing home-cooked meals to be enjoyed together around the dining table. The sitting area, with its comfortable seating, offers a relaxing space to unwind after a day of exploration, with a selection of books and games for your entertainment. All on one level, the property boasts two beautifully presented bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with a twin, both offering a peaceful haven for a restful night's sleep. The luxurious modern shower room is another impressive room with a walk-in shower ensuring you can freshen up in style before you head out for the day ahead. The property is ideally located just a short walk from the beach, making it perfect for those who enjoy coastal walks and beach days. The town is famous for its fossil-rich beaches, where you can spend hours searching for prehistoric remains. Visit the Lyme Regis Museum, which tells the story of the town's history and its connection to Mary Anning, the famous fossil hunter. Located on the stunning Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you can enjoy scenic walks and spot local wildlife. Take a stroll along the iconic Cobb Harbour, which has featured in many films and is a popular spot for fishing with boat trips offered throughout the season. The town centre is also within easy reach, offering a range of shops, galleries, and attractions to explore, together with an excellent choice of eateries. Other nearby towns worth a visit include Charmouth with its Heritage Coast Centre, and Seaton, home to the Seaton Tramway which offers a unique way to explore the beautiful Axe Valley.
