“The cottage was beautiful.”
Excellent refurbishment and spotlessly clean. Great shower, comfortable bed ,sofa and armchair. Lovely welcome hamper. However the hot water system to hot taps in the kitchen and bathroom are abysmal. You have to run the hot water tap for ages -wasting a dreadful amount of water - and then eventually the water becomes warm. Not hot enough to do the washing up ( no dishwasher) so you have to boil a kettle for that. We had to get the owner round as the tap in the bathroom failed 2 days into the ...
We had to get the owner round as the tap in the bathroom failed 2 days into the holiday ( it was replaced the next day) and when he demonstrated the “hot” water from the kitchen tap I said I didn’t think it was hot enough for washing up. All I got was a shrug and the comment “well……”. Heating is great but no air vents above windows and patio doors so the cottage got appalling stuffy if the heating was on. In January it was needed. No doormat at the patio doors and laminate flooring! Seemed ridiculous when it’s dog friendly so presume dog owning guests like us will be using patio doors all year round. We put towels down but it wasn’t ideal as they slipped around on the laminate. We came home early. I would politely suggest that the owner’s lovely wife be the one to deal with guests as she was far more friendly and approachable than he was. I would add that this is the first time I have ever had to complain about holiday accommodation .
