“It was a privilege to stay at Lynch Cottage for 4 May nights.”

The setting, grounds and garden are perfect, the house spacious, spotlessly clean, and all we needed was thoughtfully provided. It was, just magic. We grearly enjoyed the pictures and information about the history of Lynch Cottage. We greatly appreciated our welcome pack of local treats and snacks. We grearly enjoyed the pictures and information about the history of Lynch Cottage. We greatly appreciated our welcome pack of local treats and snacks. It is evident that the owner takes great pride in this place, and we two friends, and our two dogs, felt quite welcome, yet also grateful for the opportunity to stay in this unique house. The woodburner was welcome on one chilly night, and the seasoned logs provided were most welcome. Reluctant to criticise at all, we might suggest that the owner provides a much larger, maybe, Smart TV in the sitting room and upgrades the seating in this room to seating a little less upright. Having said that, This will not put us off coming back again to this perfect house!

We tried to buy more comfortable seating for the sitting room but unfortunately it’s such a small room that it cannot accommodate deeper seats! “Idyllic cottage in a wonderful setting.”

This is probably the best appointed self-catering property we have ever stayed at. Everything has been thought of. Lyme Regis centre is also only a 5 minute drive away. Would definitely visit again. For those with kids, the broadband is very slow, so it would be a good idea to download content before your visit.

We have 3 rescue dogs and it really is the best place to be if you have dogs that need some space. Would recommend this property to anyone who likes to get away from it all.

“Staying at Lynch cottage was amazing , absolutely beautiful.”

A lovely welcome pack upon arrival and a very well equipped house . Beds were very comfortable with good quality linen giving us all a great nights sleep . We had fun with the outside ping pong and our dog Winnie very much enjoyed the lovely gardens , Thank you for our lovely staycation, lots of lovely memories made . One small point of improvement would be the lounge , not very comfortable as most of the seating needs replacing , but overall a magical stay .

“Beautiful Location, Great Walks We really enjoyed our week at Lynch Cottage and would echo what everybody else has said about the beauty of the cottage and gardens, and the seclusion of the location.”

It was very hot part of the time we were there but, like a lot of Victorian houses, the cottage was very cool. The great bonus for us was that just a stone's throw from the house there is a footpath that goes down to the Undercliff and the SW Coast Path. You can walk into Lyme Regis or Axmouth, or take the Pinhay Permissive Path - a 2.5-mile circular walk that branches off the Coast Path up to Pinhay and comes out just down the path from the house. A note of caution though for those who prefer a gentler ramble - there is no walk from the house that does not involve a steep gradient.

“Disappointing especially given the high price point.”

Exterior, gardens and location are really lovely. Sat outside for much of the time and views fantastic Let down by 2/3 showers being broken/poor, lounge poorly furnished so not really a family space, downstairs bedroom accessed through utility room, lock on back gate jammed to no access to path … and so so many forbidding rules! Don’t touch the shells, don’t drive loudly past brothers house, no food on soft furnishings, no food upstairs, take rubbish a mile up the road. Felt like we were being allowed to stay under duress Note: only saying not to publish as no reason to cause owner an issue with future lettings. Feedback being shared honestly rather than with malice

“We have been visiting Lynch Cottage, whenever we can, over a period of many years.”

Its location and gardens have always been the main attraction for us. We felt that the property felt refreshed and very welcoming on this trip and really enjoyed our time there. It’s a very unique and special place and always difficult to leave, both for us and our dogs, and we hope to return again in the future. Lyme Bay Holidays were there to rescue us and save the day when I managed to shut the front door with the latch on and the keys inside. The only small negative was that we forgot to bring our own salt and pepper, so will do so next time

“This was a wonderful cottage.”

We, and our dogs, loved our stay. It was in such a special location, quiet and peaceful but near enough to many interesting and beautiful locations. The kitchen was very well equipped, as was the cottage itself. So much thought had gone into ensuring that we were provided with everything we could possibly need, and more. The garden was amazing, huge and very well kept, so we, and our dogs, spent a lot of time outside as we had perfect weather during our stay. The beds were very comfortable too and it was a bonus to have the sinks in each bedroom. The cottage was well laid out and ideal for guests and another bonus was the bag of goodies provided on our arrival, plus the milk in the fridge. We really did have a special stay. Thank you all.

“The perfect cottage if you like tranquility and enjoy nature, being completely secluded but within easy access of the jurassic coast attractions.”

A short walk directly from the cottage through unspoilt and well maintained woodland takes you directly onto the south coast path. We enjoyed days out followed by relaxing evenings sitting on the patio with a drink, listening to and watching the birds flying about the wooded valley. We were a party of 5 (+dog) and the only improvement we would make to the accommodation would be to have more comfortable furniture in the lounge to relax in after our days out. Also, a sign to the cottage from the main road, or even half way down the track would be useful, as there is no indication at all that you are in the vicinity of the accommodation. We will definitely be returning at some point.

It is very much a home from home and has a wonderful calmness. The peace and tranquility mean that you don’t really have to go anywhere but when you do there are plenty of attractions and good walking within easy reach. “Amazing place, we will be back.”

You under sell this place, its nicer than it looks and my only gripe is the seats in the lounge very uncomfortable. The beds are comfortable, water hot and its well heated. lots of books to read and activities to do. Arriving there is like stepping back in time, so quiet and right by the coastal path. Loads of fossil hunting done, great meals out and memories made

“We had a lovely stay over Christmas at Lynch Cottage.”

We had plenty of space, were warm and comfortable and the range cooker is fabulous. The living room furniture is a little small, a smart tv would have been nice and a better hoover would have helped with keeping the lovely house clean but these are small points intended only as feedback for future improvements. We would thoroughly recommend the cottage for a cosy winter stay.

The location is perfect and the views are stunning. We love the peace and quiet, a real get away. The only reason that we marked slightly down on ‘Comfort’ is that the sofas are not very forgiving otherwise it is very comfortable and well equipped.

No room felt welcoming as many notes with instructions everywhere. Perhaps the welcome pack/book a more suitable location? Beds not made up as requested, despite confirmation they would be. Access to property from road blocked by bins second morning. We therefore left three days early from a five day stay.

“We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Lynch Cottage.”

The property has a very secluded, quiet location, within sight of the sea - although we could not find a route to the sea within easy walking distance. The lovely gardens are fully enclosed, making it a safe space for our dog to roam free. Inside, the house is well furnished and equipped. The bedrooms were comfortable, and the dining room and kitchen had everything you would expect in terms of appliances, utensils, cutlery, etc. A slight disappointment was the small TV with no SMART facility. Our boys very much enjoyed using the table tennis table at the of the property.

“We greatly enjoyed a very relaxing week at spacious and well-equipped Lynch Cottage - made really perfect by this unique property's very private and peaceful "Secret Garden" setting, where the trees and meadows slope gently down to the nearby sea - and the noisiest neighbours were wood-pigeons song-thrushes and chaff-chaffs.”

It all made for a perfect escapist retreat, whether under a blue June sky or wrapped in an atmospheric sea-mist (and we experienced both!).We have rented many a holiday cottage over the years - but have never found a better hideaway far from the "madding crowd". We were reluctant to leave at the end of our week. After two weeks we would probably have refused to!

“This is our second stay and overall the property was as delightful as always.”

Having towels provided was a bonus this time. However it was a pity that the gate to the field is now padlocked. We can understand why if other guests are letting dogs run wild but it meant an awkward climb for my elderly mother instead. Otherwise we had a lovely stay.

Lynch Cottage is a unique and beautiful former Gamekeepers cottage set into the hillside with stunning views over a quiet woodland valley all the way to the sea. Built in 1850 on the private Pinhay Estate the property, nestled in a wonderfully secluded position amidst its own large grounds, provides flexible accommodation for up to 6 guests. The area is a haven for wildlife and the surrounding area is ideal for walkers with an abundance of footpaths including the South West Coastal footpath taking you to Lyme Regis and Seaton (weather and conditions permitting). A welcome pack for your arrival ensures a great start to your holiday and will include milk, tea and a selection of locally sourced produce and treats. Lovingly converted and restored to retain all of its unique character and charm the property also benefits from all the modern conveniences you will require including woodburners in the lounge and dining rooms. The delightful seaside town of Lyme Regis has much to offer its visitors, boasting a maze of narrow streets filled with craft and antique shops, galleries and cafes. Take a stroll along the world-famous Cobb causeway overlooking the ancient harbour, where fishing trips can be enjoyed, or try your hand at fossil hunting in the area. The scenic coastal path offers excellent walking opportunities and spectacular views of the stunning Jurassic coast, whilst the gently shelving sands and sparkling waters of Lyme Bay provide the perfect place in which to relax and unwind.
