    Upper Cottage has been extended & maintained to a high standard and all the resources / facilities required for an easy to use property are in place. Super showers, plenty of hot water, underfloor heating (I know it’s the summer, but as a bare footed lover this was an extra delight!) Gorgeous garden to relax in & secure for our two little dachshunds who enjoyed sniffing & a snuffling to their hearts content! The kitchen was VERY well organised, ovens easy to use, dishwasher lovely & clean & ...

Located perfectly in Rocombe for all the joys of walking the river walk down into Lyme and just meandering the local lanes ‘discovering.’ I would very much recommend this fab cottage, with the downstairs bedroom and shower room the flexibility for all ages to stay has been considered. The property

Upper Cottage is a charming Grade 2 listed thatched detached cottage enjoying a beautiful rural location in Rocombe on the outskirts of Uplyme near Lyme Regis in Dorset. Suitable for families or couples on holiday together, this 18th century cottage has been lovingly extended and refurbished. It combines traditional features with modern conveniences to create the perfect home from home. On the ground floor the kitchen has recently been modernised with underfloor heating, modern appliances and granite worksurfaces to provide everything needed to cook the perfect meal. There is even a wine cooler to chill your favourite tipple and a pod coffee maker. Off the kitchen is a separate utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. The cosy and welcoming dining room has a traditional woodburning stove as its focal point. This room offers the perfect dining experience and provides a large table with seating for six. The room also has underfloor heating and features an exposed wall that reflects the age and traditions of this beautiful cottage. If guests fancy a different room to relax in, read or play board games, there is a cosy snug located near the kitchen. The ground floor also has a luxurious modern bathroom with shower, bath and WC. A recent extension, accessed from the main cottage via a glazed link, houses a bright and spacious living room, a king-sized bedroom and a well-equipped bathroom, all with underfloor heating. French doors open from the bedroom and living room to provide views of, and access to, the beautiful garden and a large patio area where you can enjoy al-fresco dining. The living room has comfortable seating for six and provides a large flat-screen smart TV. Two further double bedrooms are located upstairs in the main cottage, via steep wooden cottage stairs. Both are beautifully presented with views over the surrounding countryside, the ideal place to curl up for a restful night’s sleep. Each bedroom has access to a shared WC and sink. The garden is a particular feature of this property. It has a large patio area with outdoor lighting, and a summer house with lovely views, all of which are surrounded by greenery and shrubs. The garden is enclosed by walls and fencing to keep any visiting pets secure. On occasion, you may catch sight of alpaca grazing in the adjoining paddocks. Please note that guests do not have access to the paddocks. There are two large private parking areas, both are within a few yards of the gate to the property. There is also public parking opposite the cottage for visitors. Upper Cottage is located in a peaceful rural location yet within easy reach of the nearby village of Uplyme with its village pub and store . A scenic riverside stroll will take you into Lyme Regis itself which has delightful selection of independent shops, galleries, cafes and restaurants as well as popular family friendly beaches, visitor attractions and the renowned Cobb Harbour. The town of Axminster is nearby with more shops and a large supermarket The World heritage Jurassic Coastline has a wealth of wonderful beaches, seaside towns and picturesque villages to discover whether you are on foot or in the car. The quaint fishing village of Beer is well worth a visit with its iconic limestone cliffs providing a dramatic backdrop to the sheltered beach where you can sit watch the local fishing boats come into shore. For walkers, the area is criss-crossed with footpaths and bridleways and this popular stretch of the South West Coastal footpath rewards with breath taking scenic views. For some great family days out why not take a tram ride from Seaton along the River Axe to the historic market town of Colyton or take a drive to Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens or The Donkey Sanctuary at Sidmouth. Upper Cottage is a picture postcard, chocolate-box cottage and the perfect rural retreat at any time of the year. The area was chosen by TV chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall for his River Cottage HQ at Park Farm, where you can treat yourself to a great meal. Just a short drive takes you to the stunning Jurassic Coast at Lyme Regis.
