“We spent a week here and the location of the property was ideal with plenty of pubs and a lovely walk away from lyme regis beach.”

The property has stunning views with plenty of wildlife to keep you entertained. We was welcomed by the owner who was more than helpful and was very warm and welcoming. We loved it here the only thing for us which is maybe personal preference was that the bed was way too firm making it hard to wind down after a busy day and waking with a bad back. We would love to return if the mattress was made more comfortable as everything else was perfect.

I can only apologise that the bed mattress was too firm; unfortunately we went for a mattress that we thought would please most of our lovely guests. It's a pity we didn't know about this sooner as, purely by chance, ,we happen to have a spare mattress or two in the main house. i know back pain can be awful, so i do hope it feels better soon. our best wishes Justin and Lisa Property Owner

“A relaxing laid back holiday in a beautiful location surrounded by wildlife, trees and great views.”

The George Baker cabin is very comfortable and cosy for two people and not overlooked. A nice big Hot Tub to relax in with a nice country view. Justin the owner is very friendly and willing to help you If need be. You could not ask for more. A short walk away Is the Talbot Inn for pub meals and the people there are also nice and friendly. You have nice wide parking for your car.

“Beautiful cabin and spotlessly clean!”

Lovely view across the garden, fields and over to the village. We enjoyed watching the birds on the bird feeder and were lucky enough to see two dear in the nearby field. I would suggest bringing an extra layer if coming in cold weather as the one radiator in the bedroom didn't warm the main living area sufficiently. Would definitely return for a warmer weather break through!

Enjoyed every minute. Justin was a super host. The location was great for exploring the jurassic Coast. Had a lovely meal at the Talbot Arms and meeting the local cat. Enjoyed using the hottub and seeing the birds feeding in the garden. Saw a nuthatch fir the first time. Would highly recommend for a couples quiet get away.

“We enjoyed an excellent week.”

The property was extremely clean and well equipped. Justin the owner was friendly and welcoming and had already answered a question we had prior to arrival, promptly. We were seeking a bit of quiet relaxation and could not have chosen better holiday accommodation. The hot tub was fantastic and provided great views while soaking. The decor was beautiful and added to the air of calm. A long private driveway set us back on a private estate but we were still close enough for a good walk following the stream into Lyme Regis and all it has to offer. We have over 30 years self catering experience and have never stayed in better and will definitely return. Thank you Justin

Beautiful accommodation and if you are a nature lovely the deer visiting the garden and the bird variety was fabulous. Hot tub gorgeous and private. “We were looking for peace and relaxation and that's exactly what we got at the Sir George Bakers lodge.”

Attention to detail was superb the views from the veranda were stunning with an abundance of wildlife and we were entertained by the birds visiting the feeders daily. The hot tub was fantastic and kept in top condition by the owners. The owners were great hosts, they were available if needed and respected our privacy. Thank you to Justin and his family. “Great little property for two.”

Only let down was the size of the sofa and storage space for clothes in bedroom. Could have done with a chest of draws in the cubby hole. Apart from that fantastic, very peaceful and private. Super clean too.

It’s in a lovely, peaceful location overlooking rolling countryside whilst handily located for Lyme Regis and the coast. The space was great for the two of us, and was very thoughtfully kitted out, comfortable and clean. Nice outdoor decking area complete with hot tub which we used every night! The owners live on site and were really helpful. Would definitely return to Sir George Baker Cabin!

Great attention to detail has been given to create extremely comfortable, roomy studio-type accommodation. The hot tub is glorious with spreading arms of a pine tree forming the canopy with a view over a deep valley. Our hosts were fun and generous with their time introducing footpaths.

Sir George Baker Cabin is a superb couples' retreat located in Uplyme, a village on the Devon/Dorset border, near the stunning World Heritage Jurassic Coast. Set within private grounds with a hot tub, decked terrace and garden area, and located in a peaceful woodland setting, this romantic hideaway is only a short drive from the popular seaside town of Lyme Regis. Approached by a long sweeping drive which takes you through the impressive grounds and electric gates to your allocated parking space. All on one level, this impressive, charred cedar-clad abode boasts a spacious open-plan living area with a vaulted ceiling and bi-fold doors which flood the room with light and make the most of the impressive views. The well-equipped kitchen provides everything needed to showcase your culinary skills with the decked terrace providing the ideal spot to enjoy a romantic meal or cosy evening drink. Steps lead from the terrace down to the pergola-covered hot tub, where you can sit back and relax amidst the bubbles under the stars. When it comes to nighttime, retreat to the king-size bedroom, which has been furnished with a real eye for detail and designed to provide a relaxing and restful break. The shower room with a waterfall shower is a delightful contemporary area in keeping with the rest of the property. The property boasts a woodland backdrop of giant redwoods, specimen trees and mature planting, including azaleas and rhododendrons. A haven for wildlife, take a stroll stroll through the adjacent pinetum which link up with footpaths traversing this area, including the nearby nature reserve at Trinity Hill. The village of Uplyme is a short walk away, with its shop and friendly village pub. Follow the riverside walk to Lyme Regis with its iconic Cobb Harbour and an excellent range of independent shops and galleries. When it comes to eating out, you will be spoilt for choice with a fantastic selection of fine dining restaurants, pubs, and takeaways that serve great food, local beverages, and seafood. The sandy beach is popular with beachgoers and for water sports such as paddle boarding and kayaking, with the Lyme Rib Rides offering a more thrilling experience and a thrilling way to see the coast. The beaches in Dorset are a paradise with fossil hunters, and you can learn all about the area's rich geological history at the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre, located on the seafront, before trying to find your own ammonites hidden on the shorelines.
