Susan “This is a comfortable, cosy cottage - light, airy & very well equipped.”
The location is perfect for those whose mobility is compromised - i.e. for those who can cope with stairs but need a walker outside to travel any distance. It's on the flat which makes a walk as far as the wonderful Mary Anning statue in one direction & the entrance to the Cobb in the other with sea views all the way. Have been before, loved it & will undoubtedly go again.

Carol “We felt privileged to stay in this lovely historic cottage with its panoramic views of the sea.”
Close to everything, shops, the museum, bars and restaurants. Drop off of luggage easy, no problems with the front door key. Cosy and comfy and well equipped. We would recommend Tom’s restaurant only yards away - fantastic food. Communications with Sykes Cottages and Lyme Bay Holidays friendly and excellent. We will be back. Thank you x
- Carol, November 2025Clare “Lovely cottage in amazing location.”
Bigger and more spacious than we expected. Comfy beds and good shower. We have always wanted to stay on the promenade and this lived up to all our expectations.
- Clare, October 2025Andrea “Jane Austin and love Lyme Regis.”
Great place to stay.
- Andrea, October 2025James “Really nice place.”
Only slight confusion was the location of refuse bin outside. Upper small bedroom was drafty as window didn't fully close. We would stay again, great location, loved the sound of the sea ! Our favourite property so far in Lyme having stayed nearby twice before.
- James, October 2025Nicholas “We loved this cottage - actually I could live there!”
Warm, comfortable, quiet except for the roar of the sea! Our problem was the parking situation. We are elderly, and found this a problem. It was just too far and too steep for us. The welcome pack was superb - loved it. All I would request is packets of S&P, vinegar and ketchup, and sugar! Thanks for making our short stay very happy.
- Nicholas, October 2025Susan “Beautiful cottage and exceptional location and views.”
The only reason we probably wouldn’t book again is because we missed our new puppy so much as we didn’t have him when we had made the booking.
- Susan, September 2025Helen “This is a gorgeous little property and, as previous guest have remarked, its main advantage is the great location.”
It was clean and well thought out in terms of equipment and safety features.
- Helen, June 2025Lucy “This is our fourth year in this charming cottage.”
We love the location by the beach and being in the centre of the town. It’s now becoming our home from home. The new lock on the front door is much better. Also thank you for the new mattress. Nice to know that my previous comment was noted. Love the new air fryer but disappointed that still there’s no Nespresso machine. I could really use one on this visit as I didn’t like complimentary coffee in the welcome pack. We would normally have booked our return for next year but due to other commitments, our visit next year would be later than our usual time
- Lucy, May 2025Sarah “With this house you are paying for the location and view, which are absolutely amazing, but the house feels tired and a little uncared for.”
Cleaning isn’t brilliant, basics are fine but the doors and skirtings are dusty and the window frame in the bathroom was really dirty. It makes the house feel uncared for. The drain for the shower was completely clogged and it wasn’t possible to run the shower for more than a couple of minutes without flooding the bathroom floor, we bought drain declogger and fixed it overnight but just a shame no one had resolved it, it would have obviously been a problem even from cleaning it. There’s a piece of carpet in the sitting room, clearly there to protect the doorway which is fine, but its bent and moves every time you step on it which means you just keep having to put it back. It’s not the end of the world, but just feels like someone should have noticed and bothered to put something better there. It’s an old house and it’s going to have its drafts and quirks, but the window in the upstairs bedroom needs some proper attention. The decorating feels tired, things just look like they need freshening up and a bit of care rather than just painting over. The kitchen is basic but fine, the rubber stoppers on the chairs are a pain, falling off whenever you move a chair and giving an old peoples home vibe. The table isn’t brilliant for the space. It’s equipped to a fairly basic level but with things I can’t imagine getting used often, like a slow cooker, and missing things that would be really useful like pasta bowls or more cutlery. The beds are reasonably comfy but being made really badly and we had to remake the two upstairs because the sheets were positioned so they didn’t tuck under the mattress at the end and so came loose after a night of the kids sleeping in them. Again, it’s obviously not enough to ruin a holiday but just feels a little slapdash, we holiday in a lot of cottages and it’s not something I’ve ever had a problem with. We have been to this house several times over the years, and would come again for the location, but I wish just a little more thought and care could be invested in it.
- Sarah, April 2025David “A lovely property, great location and very comfortable.”
Well stocked kitchen and nice welcome pack. Only issue with the property was the bedroom windows. It was very windy and the wind blew through the windows. A couple of issues with information, first given wrong code to get the key. Second wrong code for rubbish bin with weird comment on its at the top of the window!
- David, January 2025Peter “Second stay here - amazing views and especially siting outside on one of the many (public) benches to catch the sun rise as well many people swimming .”
Once unloaded and parked up the hill etc lots to do . The Oyster House (formerly Hix's - I had booked 12 months ago for this )and the Pilot pub very good . Black dog cafe in Uper Lyme excellent . Harville Cottage was great.
- Peter, November 2024Richard “Lovely property and beautiful sea views.”
So convenient for the town, walks and activities. Really enjoyed our stay. Thank you for the welcome pack! Very much appreciated. Would love to stay again.
- Richard, October 2024Benita “A lovely stay, warm and cosy and the beds were so comfortable.”
The downsides were: .shower had to be unblocked after flooding (Response was quick) .Light bulbs missing or not working in the kitchen and main bedroom .Paint flakes on the carpet behind single bed .Table lamp next to the same single bed unable to plug in as the extension lead was too short
- Benita, September 2024Ian “Fantastic all the way round.”
Would not hesitate to recommend. Thank you for a great holiday.
- Ian, September 2024Sallie “Lovely cottage and a lovely stay - I’ve been coming to Lyme Regis for 50 years and will hopefully continue to come for another good few years.”
However, the prices now being charged are proving too high - it was the quietest I’ve known Lyme in June and the general consensus from people we spoke to is they will not return as they can go elsewhere for half the price - can’t say I disagree - it would be interesting to know why the prices have been increased so much as I can’t see any other reason than greed
- Sallie, June 2024Rob “Just had a very enjoyable holiday in Harville Cottage.”
The cottage is very well located pretty much right on the beach with short walks to Broad Street and all the facility's that Lyme has to offer. The property is well maintained and had all that we needed whilst on our stay. The parking permit supplied with the cottage was very useful also. We would defiantly stay here again. As ever we great service from Lyme Bay Holidays.
- Rob, June 2024Wendy “This was our 6th or 7th stay at Harville Cottage, which I think says it all.”
Outstanding position and redecorated since last year. a very comfortable and welcoming cottage. Unfortunately, I think this may be our last visit as the trek to the car park is becoming increasingly difficult now at our age, even though we only attempt it once leave Lyme.We did try to get a taxi but one wasn't available.
- Wendy, June 2024Lucy “We love Harville Cottage.”
We have stayed in two others places in Lyme Regis before we stayed in Harville and this is the third year we have stayed here and it feels like second home. Well done for the refurbished downstairs toilet. It looks great. Thumbs up for the cleaning team. My white socks were as white as when I put them on in the morning after walking up and down the floors.
- Lucy, May 2024Stuart “The sound of the sea is always with you here and I just love that.”
The shops are a couple of minutes one way and the cobb the same the other. The cottage itself is well appointed generally although a smart TV would be a nice addition The proof of the pudding etc and we have booked this a few times now- enjoy!
- Stuart, October 2023Rebecca “It was a pleasure to stay in Harville Cottage.”
It had all we needed for our stay and what a stay we had. What a view to wake up to and to be able to walk out the door onto the seafront. My son even played the sound of the sea on our first night back home. It was certainly a memorable family experience. I think most of us would agree we’d love to come back
- Rebecca, September 2023Lindsay “We took my elderly parents here again, this time for their 66th wedding anniversary and it was perfect, restaurants etc easily accessible and a great view from the bay window.”
They enjoyed sitting outside and chatting with friendly (and envious!) passers-by. Great to be able to swim straight from the cottage. The main bedroom is spacious and welcoming. We had the small twin room up in the attic but the beds were very comfortable! Sadly I don’t think they could manage the stairs this year, otherwise we’d be back there again!
- Lindsay, September 2023Sandra “Very enjoyable stay in this lovely cottage.”
Love watching the waves from the windows. Will definitely be returning, ideal position on the seafront very relaxing.
- Sandra, June 2023Michael “Overall location stunning, facilities good, decor and furnishings looking a bit tired.”
- Michael, June 2023James “We loved our stay at Harville Cottage.”
It's the perfect location for a seaside break - right on the beach and within minutes of shops, restaurants and bars. Comfortable and well stocked, with a lovely welcome hamper of local (and very tasty) food, the house is perfect for a family of four. Thank you.
- James, May 2023Lucy “We love this cottage.”
This is the second time we returned to this property. Slightly disappointed not to see a nespresso machine as suggested in my review last year. The cottage is very comfortable and almost everything is branded with John Lewis. The kitchen is well equipped. The location is idea, right by the beach and very central to quite a few eateries. Highly recommended.
- Lucy, May 2023We're so pleased that you chose to return to the cottage for another holiday. All of our properties do provide a cafetirere to make fresh coffee. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner
Hilary “Easily the best holiday cottage we have taken in the UK ever!”
Location location location and lovely, homely facilities with everything you could ever need provided. The welcome pack was super - thank you. One very minor issue - the front door lock was temperamental and needed a good bit of wiggling the key to open door from outside!
- Hilary, April 2023Thank you for making such kind comments about Harville Cottage. We will ask our Maintenance Team to take a look at the front door lock. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner
Janet “Cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed.”
It was lovely seeing and hearing the sea so close. We are looking forward to coming back
- Janet, April 2023Clare “We’ve had the best time at Harville, just loved the sound of the sea being so close.”
We cooked lovely meals & had a relaxing few days with our friends x
- Clare, March 2023Thank you for such lovely feedback, a joy to hear you enjoyed yourselves. Please come again. Property Owner
Keith “The cottage is in an amazing location, right on the beachfront, so there are wonderful sea views, and lots of seaside activity to watch!”
Plus, there is the constant soothing background sound of the waves. The cottage has been very thoughtfully furnished and equipped, and helpful notes have been provided on practicalities.
- Keith, March 2023What a lovely review, hearing the waves in the background is just the best! Thank you for staying at Harville. Property Owner
Helen “Lovely cosy cottage with fabulous views to the sea and The Cobb.”
The welcome pack provided on our arrival was much appreciated. The cottage is very well equipped and provides a parking permit for one of the local car parks which is very handy. There are also two EV chargers in the car park which was great for us having an electric car. Staying in the winter meant we were able to watch the rough seas from the comfort of the lounge and lying in bed listening to the waves at night was very relaxing. Lots of good eating places within walking distance of the cottage. Would highly recommend staying at Harville Cottage to others.
- Helen, December 2022Lynda “Really enjoyed our 4 day stay in December 2022.”
Thank you.
- Lynda, December 2022Charlotte “The property needs a bit of tlc, the windows were constantly letting water through in the strong rain no wind!”
Which lead to the property being quite cold! Other then that we would stay again
- Charlotte, November 2022Ashley “We absolutely loved this cottage, the only negative was the heating.”
We had to switch the radiators off, particularly the one in the entrance hall it was overwhelmingly hot. Other than that the cottage was stunning
- Ashley, November 2022Lindsay “Harville Cottage was the perfect place to celebrate my parents' 65th wedding anniversary.”
They loved sitting outside on the folding chairs provided and chatting to all the friendly passers-by (someone said 'you've got the best spot in Lyme Regis!') It was well-equipped and comfortably furnished and the view from the sitting room bay window was amazing. We loved it too as we could pop across to the beach for a swim whenever we liked, and it was so easy to get to pubs and restaurants along the sea front. Having the car park permit was very handy too. We would definitely stay here again!
- Lindsay, September 2022Lucy “This cottage is the third one we have been in in Lyme Regis in as many years, and we lucked out with this one and it’s a keeper.”
It’s charming and comfortable. Amazing sea view. If we had wanted to cook, everything was there in terms of equipment. It’s almost home away from home except for a Nespresso machine! The Yale door lock is a bit tricky to open. It needs patience and wiggling! I would also feel safer if there was another bolt lock at the bottom of the door on the inside. We’ll be back here annually! In fact we already booked for a week for May next year.
- Lucy, June 2022Esyllt “Such a delight to stay in this lovely cottage a step away from the sea.”
The only minor point was that the correct bin bags were not left for rubbish collection, but when I rang the bags were left that day for us. Also as there were two of us staying who did different things during the day it would have been helpful to have 2 keys instead of one. Thank you Esyllt
