What We Loved Spotless & Well-Equipped: The cottage was exceptionally clean upon arrival, with every essential thoughtfully covered for a stress-free stay. Unbeatable Location: You are a brief 5-minute walk from the beach and the main town, yet the property feels wonderfully quiet and secluded. You get the best of both worlds - coastal convenience without the noise! On-Site Parking: Having a dedicated driveway is a massive bonus in a town notorious for difficult parking. Tip: Just be mindful that despite clear warning signage on the road, we had one person block the entrance, but they quickly moved. Good to Know Outside Space: The outdoor area could have benefited from a quick sweep to tidy things up a bit, but honestly, it wasn't an issue. While we usually go for places with a bit of a garden, being so close to the town and beach meant we didn't miss it at all. We didn't use the outside table as the inside was so nice! Cottage Quirks: We had some fun with the light switches guessing which ones did what, though we soon got the hang of it! Pillows & Comfort: We found the pillows to be very soft, so if you prefer a firmer pillow for sleeping, you may wish to bring your own. Door Locks: An improvement could be made to the upper door lock, it got temporarily stuck at one point, though we managed to unlock it by 'wobbling' the door slightly. Coastal Atmosphere: Expect an early alarm courtesy of the local seagulls! They love to wake you up in the morning, but that’s all part of what seaside holidays are all about. We loved our time here and would definitely recommend Honeysuckle Cottage to anyone visiting Lyme Regis.

“We have been visiting Lyme Regis for many years and this was the best location we've had.”

It was perfect, right in the heart of Lyme within easy access for the beach, shops and restaurants. Some of the reviews have mentioned the parking being tight, but we actually managed to get two cars on the driveway. The house had everything we needed and the kitchen was very well supplied. The welcome gift was exceptional so thank you for that. All in all we had a really comfortable and enjoyable weekend in Honeysuckle cottage and would definitely stay agin.

“Enjoyed our stay but a couple of things should be addressed.”

Outside is a mess, hasn’t been swept and tidied for yonks. Front door mat should be replaced……quite dangerous and l swopped it for the one outside the back door but it slipped. Shower floor very slippery and easy to fall so a mat should be supplied or ask visitors to bring one. Side bedroom lamp just lying on floor with no bulb??? Other than a slight musty smell when we walked in all good.

We have stayed in the cottage the last few years, does now feel a little tired inside , with some maintenance needed, leaking taps, missing light bulbs, plug in main bathroom not working, property is in a great location for making the most of the town and will stay again next year

“Hi - very strong smell inside the cottage, damp or drains, to the point we nearly left.”

Needed both doors wide open when at the cottage. - Cigarette butts across the court yard. - Recycling over flowing by the kitchen door. On arrival. Needs a proper wheelie bin. - Seagulls very noisy 24/7…not in your control I know, but never been this bad (also covering car and people in poop when sat outside) Plus: - Lovely cottage, well situated and layed out. - Very clean inside and everything worked. - welcome pack was excellent.

“There were no tea towels or a non slip bath mat in the shower.”

The towel rail in the en-suite did not work. The access to the car parking was severely restricted both by the scaffolding to the next door property and the overgrown bush (with thorny branches that could scratch the car) and the picture on the website is a misrepresentation. I have a medium size car and scratched my wing mirror, which was folded in, on my first attempt to get in. However, good location and a good time was had at the property in spite of the issues identified

“This was a lovely cottage, well equipped in the kitchen and comfortable.”

It's location was great, being close to the town and seafront. The only area of concern was parking. The parking space on the property was fine for one small/medium sized but it was the access to the parking that presented the biggest problem. Whilst the access was marked keep clear, it did not provide enough width for manoeuvring given the off angle of access. To add to the problem, there are two parking spaces to the side of the access which makes it virtually impossible to manoeuvre in and out. A small car would be best when staying here.

“Miele dishwasher needs an upgrade as we found it quicker and more hygienic to hand wash all crockery.”

Previous use of some crockery and cutlery prior to our arrival had not been quality checked. Lovely accommodation with high quality furnishings plenty of space to spread out and enjoy your own company. 4 adults sharing. Reality of the actual entrance gates picture disappointing

It was supposed to be two parking for four cars outside the cottage drive. A van was parked outside for the duration of our stay which made it extremely difficult to manoeuvre out the courtyard.

“Couple of issues, first one was the washing machine it needs some attention urgently as it struggled with the washing and was very noisy (bearings).”

Second was the dishwasher no matter what setting you chose it would not clean all the items, the dishwasher tab would not be dispensed could do with a service.

“Thank you for the use of your cottage We thought the location was great and easy to get into Lyme Regis ….”

The cottage did smell damp and the bedding etc had a musty smell. The front door is not easy to open due to the wooden door swelling in wet weather. The towels were tiny and not enough of them the en suite toilet broke on our first day we could not use it When it’s flushed the toilet makes the sink gurgle and the smell from the toilet comes up through the sink. We found glass in our shower tray. The welcome pack was very nice

“Fabulous week the holiday delivered in every way.”

Close to sea, amenities, pubs, bars and restaurants. The house was clean, comfortable and was everything we wanted and more will definitely be back A**** For future holiday makers we managed to get 2 cars in the space with a lot of shuffling which was great. Only down was no internet for the week as there were issues and it wasn’t able to be sorted.

“We’ve been to honeysuckle cottage for at least the past 4 years we reported a leak in the shower that has come through into the sitting room making it damp, a few years ago.”

It didn’t actively leak this week but you can see it’s still happening a shame as this is a beautiful property a few extension leads would be good as everyone has different devices and it is difficult to accommodate everything and everyone. Also though comfy the bed in the main room is very small. Overall we love this cottage and it’s situation

“As other reviewers have said, apart from the kitchen, the cottage is run down and in need of considerable refurbishment.”

We had to go and buy an oven glove. Our problem with overflowing rubbish bins was dealt with quickly and effectively. But the main problem is the parking and the information supplied on line is misleading. Access to the parking is not only dependent having a small car (unlikely if you are a family of four or more) with wing mirrors that fold in, it also relies on the people using the adjacent public parking space parking well within the marked bay which they do not always do. As we discovered to our cost, including a scraped front car wing, planned excursions may have to be abandoned because it is simply not possible to get the car out. In desperation, on our last afternoon we parked illegally on the access area so that we could be sure of getting our car out by 10.00 am as required for our departure the following morning.

“Great location.”

We loved being in the center with everything within a short walk. Although parking was tight having a parking space was great and we didn't go out much in any event. The accommodation was disappointing though, it was very tired looking and in need of refurbishment. The carpet downstairs was heavily stained, the wall paper was peeling off, some windows were broken and the sofas were extremely uncomfortable and are in desperate need of replacing. The kitchen was lovely and newly refurbished. It had everything you would need for a stay. The dining room furniture was great and nice to have a large table to play games on etc. The beds were comfy but the bedrooms themselves could again do with a repaint and there were some broken windows which really need to be replaced. The location as I say was amazing but the property itself is in need of some redecoration.

“Excellent location.”

Handy parking space. Well equipped kitchen. Great to have two bathrooms. Settees/sofas in lounge are uncomfortable and need to be replaced. Carpets down stairs appear dirty and marked. Outside furniture was covered in bird faeces and hasn’t been moved for a long time so we were unable to use. Just a short walk from the beach, but the accommodation was not as high a standard as previous four star properties we have stayed in with Lyme Bay Holidays.

“We stayed for 2 weeks and had a lovely time.”

On arrival hand soap, bin bag and toilet roll provision were not adequate for a 2 week stay and there was no pro active approach from Lyme Bay to replenish. Over a 2 week stay we would have appreciated either better initial stocks or a replenishment visit after a week and clearer guidance on clean sheet and towel provision so we could change them. The cottage isn't well set up for lots of linen laundry.The cottage is well located and comfortable but looking a little tired for a 4 star rating: one window pane was cracked, dvd player did not work, one bed partly collapsed, shower knob jammed, kitchen sink mixer spout came off. All things that were mostly manageable but not expected at 4 star. Parking space was very welcome but on one occasion we were blocked from access by a lyme bay holidays van parked in the keep clear area in front of the gates. Instead of an apology we got a " got do my jobs" from the driver. We had a lovely holiday and enjoyed staying in the cottage. It is a big and well located just some quality aspects weren't quite up to 4 star standards.

Beds very comfortable. The window ledges a bit dirty ( one with crawling ants) The outside courtyard needs attention. My husband spent an hour sweeping it, cleaning the furniture and cutting back the overgrown shrubbery. There is a dangerous broken wooden bench which needs to be removed. Overall a lovely family holiday cottage. Could be outstanding with a few tweaks.

“Whilst the cottage was in a very good central position, as per a previous review we were disappointed with the quality of the cottage.”

The sofas in the sitting room seem to have lost their support and we found them very uncomfortable. The inside looks in need of redecoration and the courtyard area is very unkempt and not welcoming. We did take out some of the larger weeds! On the plus side the kitchen is good and the furniture in the dining room is very good. We also found the bed in the en-suite very comfortable.

“Hm...”

. Lovely cottage, in brilliant location. But. Despite being rated as 4-star (and with a 4-star price) in our view it was only really at most a 3-star. The inside was dowdy, same dreary colour in the whole cottage, needed a good decorate, hardly any power sockets, several windows that wouldn't open and all single glazed with broken latches. Looks like it hadn't been touched for many many years except it had a nice new kitchen. One settee was broken and very uncomfortable, the other and the chair just uncomfortable. Was a bit grubby throughout, cobwebs in corners of every room, carpets cheap, same thoughout and several stains. Heating electric and uncontrolable. Outside hadn't been swept for weeks if not months, plants overgrown, pots untouched and unweeded. Very grubby by kitchen door with some plastic toys full of stagnant water and just been left for quite sometime... Whilst we have enjoyed our break very much this is the first time we have had a poor experience with a Lyme Bay Holidays cottage. It seems to us that it is being used as a cash cow, getting away with spending anything on it to maximise profit. The TV did breakdown and Lyme Bay Holidays were exceptional in replacing it the same day....
