“Clean spacious 3 bedroomed house.”

Excellent facilities in the house.Position of the house is excellent close to local shops and beach. Small outdoor flagged seating area with garden furniture accessed directly from living room. Good sized bedrooms with the main en suite. Bed in main bedroom is very firm not so much the others. Towels and bed linen provided and all clean. There’s a large playground behind the shops opposite and great walks for dogs too. The beach is mainly dog friendly apart from one area and is a 15 ...

Good sized bedrooms with the main en suite. Bed in main bedroom is very firm not so much the others. Towels and bed linen provided and all clean. There’s a large playground behind the shops opposite and great walks for dogs too. The beach is mainly dog friendly apart from one area and is a 15 minute stroll Next door is a fish and pizza bar that also sells ice cream. Very handy but the smell sometimes drifts into the garden and house when windows open at the rear. Wasn’t open Sunday and Monday . Parking in the attached garage is tight with a small SUV. There is parking at the side of the house but not always available. Would recommend as we enjoyed our stay.

Excellent double glazing so we weren't disturbed in the noisy location. Shower head in main bathroom needs descaling. Note for Sykes: now guests are required to do so much housekeeping before they leave, check out times need to be later.

“Spacious and comfortable, well equipped, both in the kitchen and the house.”

Could do with a tumble dryer - in the garage, maybe? Otherwise, having used washing machine, there is nowhere to dry clothes, other than on the drying racks provided in the garage.

Thank you for your kind feedback — we're delighted you enjoyed your stay. Following our insurer’s advice, we’ve opted not to install a tumble dryer due to potential fire risks, primarily from heat and lint buildup. For smaller items, in additional to the drying rails, guests are welcome to use the electric towel rail in the en suite (with a timed shut-off of 1–4 hours), and during winter, all radiators are fully operational for drying needs. We love this house and Charmouth. It’s ideally located in the centre of the village yet only 5 minutes to the sea front. The house is lovely and warm in the winter and the little garden is perfect to catch the sun. Looking forward to our next visit.

“This is a wonderful cottage which we thoroughly recommend - you can stop scrolling here if you’re looking for somewhere peaceful with good amenities on hand and well placed to explore Dorset.”

Deceptively spacious, immaculate inside, everything you could possibly need provided. Comfortable beds, lovely lounge with living flame gas fire, very warm throughout, completely dog friendly with hard floors throughout. Location is perfect for exploring Dorset and only a 5 minute walk from a superb beach. There’s a fish and chip shop next door, and a small supermarket opposite. The village of Charmouth is lovely. We had a wonderful time all round. Advice to any renters with dogs - we have 3 dogs, quite small and they settled really well. Good to know for owners that it’s a very small courtyard garden, patio only which was good for us but be prepared to walk your dogs for their toilet breaks if they are grass lovers! Thank you to the host and Sykes Cottages, we couldn’t have asked for more.

“Stayed at Vine many times and really love the house .”

I have marked cleanliness down as follows: The pillows in the master bedroom were not clean they smelt of stale sweat and perfume. There were no protectors on the pillows just double pillow cases which are not protectors therefore bacteria can easily grow . It is also noted that mattress protectors are not changed. All protectors ought to be changed for new guests arriving . We also found the duvets were not warm enough for winter No refuse bags left .

We’ve just had a lovely bank holiday break with great weather. The only negative is not about the house but the refuse disposal . I contacted Sykes on our first day stating the bin was full and nothing was done to action assistance.

“We had a lovely few days.”

Vine Cottage is ideally located in the centre of Charmouth and we made good use of local services including the pubs and the excellent grocery shop. The house was ideal for our needs. It was well equipped with good quality linen and towels. The welcome 'hamper' was most appreciated. The garage is narrow for modern wide cars and as we had two cars, parking was occasionally tricky. A little maintenance is needed to make Vine Cottage perfect. There were some hinge screws missing and one of the bedroom doors has a faulty mechanism causing it to stick. All in all, a comfortable property in a charming seaside village.

“We three friends really enjoyed the cottage and Charmouth itself.”

The welcome pack was gratefully received, however we found the kitchen really lacking in basics like sugar, vinegar, tomato sauce (for the fish and chips from next door) and other items that we didn't want to buy but would have appreciated. I went on to stay in an Airbnb cottage in Lulworth and really appreciated all the basics were included very generously. Otherwise a very enjoyable stay.

“Lovely house perfect for two couples and two children and a dog.”

So close to the beach and lovely walks. The main bedroom door is faulty - unable to get out a couple of times. From the scratches round the handle looks like its not the first time! Also 'please do not park here in use constantly' signs may put some off. In front of the garages seems to be a popular place to park for the chippy!

“Enjoyable stay in a nice cottage.”

Highly recommended village to stay in with 2 nice pubs , good fish and chip shop and short walk to superb beach . Great hills for the runners in our group. The main issues we had with the cottage was the fact it advertised for up to 3 dogs and we assumed the courtyard garden would therefore be a good size . It wasn’t !! Just about enough room for 4 chairs and a table and definitely no room for the dogs as well . The bushes hanging over were overgrown and sitting on the table . I had to cut them back . Surprising given a previous guest had reported it and nothing done to rectify. Additionally we reported a problem with dishwasher on day 2 but had no reply . No big deal but I would be disappointed if I was the owner. Garage really not big enough for a family car . Seems a waste of space - maybe could be converted to a games room ? However we had no problem parking our car outside. Electric needs an overhaul upstairs as the owner’s hairdryer kept tripping the electrics . In summary though , nice , well maintained (inside) property in superb location.

Thanks for your constructive feedback. We employ someone to maintain the patio area. The hedge you mention is from our neighbouring property but will ensure it is in the remit of our team to cut it back. The dishwasher (new last year) developed a fault on the door during your stay and, according to LBH maintenance, it was that which tripped the electric. It was rectified by the installer under warranty the day after you left. In addition to describing the patio as a small patio garden there are also pictures which you may not have seen? We are glad you otherwise had an enjoyable stay and loved the local area. Property Owner

“We had a lovely stay at the cottage we had 2 suggestions.”

One is that there is a front gate fitted as the main road is very close and when you have a small child and dogs it can be a risk. Also i took the door key of the main bunch as it took us 15mins to try and get them all in the key safe when all we really needed was the front door key. Thanks and we hope to stay there again in the future.

I gave a 4 stars for cleanliness because it wasn’t as clean as it could have been . There was dog hair under lounge furniture which wasn’t our dogs . The floors downstairs were not as clean as they could have been. I have to say the Lyme bay maintenance team were quick and efficient to respond(Issue with windows)

Could you not have a key box at the property to save having to drive into Lyme Regis. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay at Vine Cottage in Charmouth.

“We had never visited Charmouth before and this property was ideal for a first time visit.”

Centrally located, ten minutes walk from the sea, with all the local facilities almost on the doorstep and with inland walks close by this property filled all our needs. The property is spacious and comfortable and felt like a real home from home. Having two bathrooms and three toilets was a real bonus. This is somewhere that we would hope to come back to on future visits to the area.

Excellent property, well equipped, great with new kitchen, bathroom and windows. Wonderful to be so close to the beach and great countryside walks for our dog. Had an issue with the tv not getting the basic channels but Lyme Bay Holidays sent someone round very quickly to sort it.
